What a lovely place. Care staff excellent, lovely staff tending to service users with comfort and reassurance in every step/ Polite and very aware of any problems service users have. Lots of team spirit. Every time we visit, we are made welcome. Great atmosphere, nice and clean. The food looks fantastic.
Nice facilities to use. Activities each time we go, always different ones. Keep up the good work.

My wife has been a resident at Maple Leaf House for nearly seven years. Her care throughout this time has been very good. The pandemic of the last two years has been difficult and several excellent staff have left, but good replacements have been found. Things began to improve considerably when I was
made an 'essential carer' and I am now able to visit her nearly every day. I would be pleased to answer anyone's questions about the home.

My husband seems very settled and content to be at Maple Leaf House and I am grateful for that, but poor communication from the home has been a problem and has caused me some anxiety. Contact with a care home was new to me when my husband was admitted last year, an introductory booklet would have been
helpful as well as the key information booklet. Lockdowns haven't helped but it sometimes seems that the home assumes we know what is happening, how the home is run and the day to day routines. Communication between the home and relatives may be improving with the introduction of friends and relatives meetings.

My aunt died at Maple Leaf House in September after 3 years there. The whole team were excellent through the 3 years from cleaner to Home Manager. They learnt to understand my aunt. Thank you for a dignified end, despite the Covid epidemic and the precautions that were needed. The whole team understood

I am very disappointed in this care home, mainly in the way things are run and the lack of leadership from management. A very poor attitude from those at the top, while those at the bottom are left fighting to do the right thing against this poor leadership. On many occasions, I see bad attitudes towards
staff. Which in turn has a negative effect on how the staff themselves behave. This place has a, treat them bad so they work harder mantra. Putting the attitude of the staff who actually keep the place going down. A few words of encouragement from management would go along way and make the place feel and work so much better. I have also come across many things I would deem as unacceptable. Medication on the floor, which anyone could pick up. Dirty conditions while the cleaners are seen chatting away in corridors and being told: "It's not my wing" when asked politely if they will clean something up. Carers telling me they are going on their break so won't help. Please sort it out MHA.

My husband was a resident in Maple Leaf House, Ripley, Derby for three months. Maple Leaf House and all of its staff were kindness personified, not only to my husband but also to our family when visiting. They were sensitive to all of our needs in what could have been a very stressful time. Every member
of staff maintained a truly professional attitude, combined with cheerfulness in their care for residents' personal dignity within all aspects of their caring roles. Nursing care at Maple Leaf House is second to none; my husband and chaplain were ably led by management, all of whom ensured that my husband's last three months of life were as comfortable as possible. We are forever grateful. Thank you to all of you.

I am neighbour/carer/power of attorney for my dear friend who has been in residence since 2017. It was with anxiety that a dementia specialist home was chosen, but there were some issues which necessitated it. I was reassured fairly quickly that the choice/decision had been right.
Her room is lovely,
the building design is appropriate giving the opportunity for alternative areas for relaxation, meals, socialising/entertainment etc, and provides a clean (odourless), calm and comfortable environment throughout.
Their priority is always the care and happiness of residents. The manageress, administration and all support teams function brilliantly with a calm, friendly, professional approach. This enables the 'front of house' carers to fulfil their role so well; always tolerant, gentle, kind and go to great lengths to ensure the happiness of all residents with individual characters and needs. Always cheerful with fun/entertainment as appropriate.

My husband is very settled at Maple Leaf House, and it has now become his home. The staff at Maple Leaf helped my family during his transition to living at the home and from then on, they could not be more loving and caring towards him. The staff team work diligently to ensure that the residents are
clean and warm, active and entertained, and we can see that he feels loved. His room is spotless, and he even gets his favourite mashed potatoes most days! Residents and visitors are treated respectfully, and we always feel welcome when we visit. Both I and my family, can't thank Maple Leaf enough for the care they have provided to my husband.

Maple Leaf nursing home is a warm and friendly environment which brings lots of happiness to residents and their families and has always worked hard to protect my mum and all the residents during this awful pandemic.
My mum has been a resident since she was 88 and during this time, staff have genuinely
cared for my now 93-year-old mum with mixed dementia and other health needs. Difficult as it is that I can't see her, I know she is being well cared for, so just wanted to say a big thank you to each and every one. Stay safe.

Dad arrived at Maple Leaf House at the end of January, transferring from a residential home, which had been unable to meet his increasing needs. We have seen a wonderful improvement in the intervening months. Dad always looks smart and clean-shaven. He has a lovely room with a view of a courtyard garden.
When
Dad had a serious fall, we were concerned that he would lose mobility and become a wheelchair user full time, but the team at Maple House were so caring, attentive and encouraging that Dad was back using his walking frame within a fortnight.
We are unable to visit during the Covid lockdown, but the new social media page, gives us regular updates and photos and we have regular telephone conversations with Dad.
We are so grateful to all management and staff - nurses, carers and caterers, for giving Dad the best quality of life possible.

My mum has been at Maple Leaf only a few months but I am so pleased with the care and support that she, myself, my brother and sister have received. The staff are so friendly and show genuine concern for all the residents which is heartwarming to see. We are kept updated on mums situation at all times.
There are plenty of events and activities which visitors get involved with too.
My thanks for what the team at Maple Leaf do day and night to keep the residents safe and happy.

My mother moved here a couple of months ago and from the start of her living here I can only say how brilliant all of the staff have been. The manager and administrator made the move extremely simple and mum settled in immediately. The accommodation is 5 star as is the care given on an on-going basis.

My mother has been in the nursing home since November 2018. We are extremely pleased with the level of care/nursing that my mother is receiving. The layout of the home is excellent, all on one level with the rooms set out in a circle around a central enclosed garden. The standard of housekeeping is
very high. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with full en suite facilities. The environment is very calming. There are nurses on site 24/7 and they keep me fully involved with regards to my mothers care plan. They do not hesitate to contact me concerning my mother's welfare. All the staff, from the home manager through to the cleaning and catering staff work tirelessly to make all residents as comfortable as possible. They are all very friendly and approachable.
I have no hesitation in recommending this home to any potential new residents and their family.

We looked at a number of places in Derby to place my father who was in need of palliative care. Maple House was recommended and as soon as we arrived we knew this was the right place for Dad. We were shown around the safe and comfortable surroundings. The facilities are well laid out and well thought
through, from the reminisce room, hairdressers, sensory room and kitchens, everything is here that is necessary. We can't praise the staff enough for their care and empathy they give, they all deserve the highest of praise. Their gentle approach and empathetic nature is highly effective in how they treat families and visitors, nothing is too much trouble and how they helped us celebrate what we thought would be a very upsetting and difficult festive period was so heartfelt and we can’t thank the staff enough for their thoughtfulness.
We can not recommend this place enough and we hope that this review will endorse this home for more families to get the specialist attention they may require.

Having to move my mum from another care home due to her worsening condition I found Maple Leaf House. From looking around the home the staff were so friendly and the home had a lovely welcoming atmosphere. I was so happy that my mum could go there. The staff are wonderful, caring and nothing is too
much trouble for them, from the manager to the cleaning staff. Everybody has a smile on their face and always speaks. My mum settled in really well and enjoys going to all the activities. Mum enjoys the religious services as well.
All her needs are expertly dealt with and I feel such a feeling of relief that she is in such a loving place with all her needs catered for.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
