Overall Experience

The staff seemed genuinely helpful. The medication was missed resulting in antibiotics being administered. Unsure about monitoring hygiene. Moved rooms several times we were told, mum has dementia. Poor communication between home and relatives. A lot of lost/missing property on discharging mum, including glasses and hearing aids. We were given someone else's medication to bring home. Belongings not treated with respect and some clearly remained unused despite the home requesting them for mum. Rotting food in mums bags which was from the home. Felt totally let down by the system, staff, and authorities. Such a shame.

My dad has been in The Lodge Care Home for almost two weeks. During that time, he has received excellent care. The home is friendly and welcoming, the carers are kind, compassionate and very attentive, nothing is too much trouble for them. They have also been extremely supportive to all the family during this transitional period. The activity coordinator is very engaging. The residents enjoy all aspects of the activities provided. In conclusion, all our family have been very impressed by all aspects of care provided by The Lodge Care Home.

We moved my brother from a care home in Chesterfield in January of this year to The Lodge Care Home at Killamarsh. My brother was given 7 days to live, we are now in June and my brother, although very ill, is happier than he has been for a long time. The care and love he is given at The Lodge has prolonged his life and made us family very happy.

My mother was resident at the Lodge for three months during that time she was treated with great care, compassion, dignity and tenderness. My family and I were always made very welcome and kept well informed about her care. Her last days were made very peaceful and the family was given great support by everyone. I could not have chosen a more caring team to look after Mum and would not hesitate to recommend The Lodge.

My aunt has been in the care home for 12 weeks. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful which enabled my aunt to settle in straight away. She suffered a three-week spell when she was confused due to the effects of an infection and they gave excellent care and security to help her through this period. She is now back to her usual self and enjoying being there again. I can feel settled now knowing she is well cared for and most of all safe. I personally have found the management and staff very helpful to me. If I have had any issues I have wanted sorting, nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Mum has been here for 14 months now and it has been the contributing factor to her 99th year last month. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and there is always laughter in the place. Be it, staff, residents or both which lightens the situation. Always a pleasure to visit and I know mum is looked after.

We are always made to feel welcome when we visit. My only issue is with the commode being left in Mum's room she cannot get to it herself, so there is no point it being there all the time. It could be brought in when she needs it. She often feels unwell, so has her meals in her room. I would not like to eat in the same room as my toilet. Otherwise I am very happy with all the care.
