We moved my brother from a care home in Chesterfield in January of this year to The Lodge Care Home at Killamarsh. My brother was given 7 days to live, we are now in June and my brother, although very ill, is happier than he has been for a long time. The care and love he is given at The Lodge has prolonged
his life and made us family very happy.

My mother was resident at the Lodge for three months during that time she was treated with great care, compassion, dignity and tenderness. My family and I were always made very welcome and kept well informed about her care. Her last days were made very peaceful and the family was given great support
by everyone. I could not have chosen a more caring team to look after Mum and would not hesitate to recommend The Lodge.

My aunt has been in the care home for 12 weeks. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful which enabled my aunt to settle in straight away. She suffered a three-week spell when she was confused due to the effects of an infection and they gave excellent care and security to help her through this
period. She is now back to her usual self and enjoying being there again. I can feel settled now knowing she is well cared for and most of all safe. I personally have found the management and staff very helpful to me. If I have had any issues I have wanted sorting, nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Mum has been here for 14 months now and it has been the contributing factor to her 99th year last month. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and there is always laughter in the place. Be it, staff, residents or both which lightens the situation. Always a pleasure to visit and I know
mum is looked after.

We are always made to feel welcome when we visit. My only issue is with the commode being left in Mum's room she cannot get to it herself, so there is no point it being there all the time. It could be brought in when she needs it. She often feels unwell, so has her meals in her room. I would not like
to eat in the same room as my toilet. Otherwise I am very happy with all the care.

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.857)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.857) out of 10 for The Lodge Care Home (Killamarsh) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.982 for The Lodge Care Home (Killamarsh) is calculated as follows: ( (25 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 3.982
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Lodge Care Home (Killamarsh) is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
