Sherwood Forest care home celebrates cultural diversity while providing residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, along with respite breaks that can be booked in advance - ideal for family carers seeking peace of mind during a short break.

The home embraces many faiths and cultures, with team members speaking several Asian languages as well as English. Residents enjoy home-cooked meals featuring both Asian and English dishes, from roast dinners to homemade curries and daal. Freshly baked cakes and treats are served daily for afternoon tea. The care, compassion and genuine affection shown to residents, families and visitors is wonderful. Individual needs are catered for as much as possible and residents are treated with dignity.

There is plenty to stimulate residents and areas for restful quiet, if that is preferred. The management

of staff is excellent - and as for the food - it is delicious and varied.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Sherwood Forest Residential and Nursing HomeDear Ann, thank you so much for your kind words about our home. Your feedback is truly invaluable to us and it is much appreciated. Best wishes, Fae

The few times I have been to see my nanna, the staff are friendly and caring. It's nice and clean. My nanna seems happy and well. The staff have done a few activities with my nanna, like painting flower pots, which she enjoyed.

My mother spent the last year of her life at Sherwood. The staff were always very caring and attentive to her needs. On all my visits I was made welcome and fully informed. I got to know a lot of the staff well. I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for my family and myself during the time
of my mother’s eventual death.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Sherwood Forest Residential and Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words about our home and team. Whilst I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, I am glad that both yourself and family were supported through this time. I will be sure to pass your review onto the team. Best wishes, Fae.

My Father has been at the Sherwood Nursing home for most of this year since his diagnosis of Dementia. Not having any previous experience with care homes we were very lucky to find a placement within this care provider. Since he arrived he has been treated with the utmost dignity and respect despite
presenting some challenging behaviour. The team at Sherwood have gone out of their way not only to support my Father but also they have made themselves available to support the entire family at this challenging time. One of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make was to find a placement for our father however, we have peace of mind in knowing that he is safe, cared for and treated with dignity and respect. The entire team are passionate about the role they each play in caring for a wide range of residents each with their own care needs. The Management team are very approachable and its clear to see they ensure their team are not only well trained but understand how important what they do is.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Marketing Officer at Sherwood Forest Residential and Nursing HomeDear Stephen,
What a heart-warming review, thank you so much for your kind words. We appreciate that the transition into the care of a loved one, can be a difficult time for families, so we are really glad that you are confident in the care that your father is receiving and that you now have peace of mind. I will pass your lovely comments onto the team at Sherwood Forest. Best wishes, Fae.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.471)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.471) out of 10 for Sherwood Forest Residential and Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.496 for Sherwood Forest Residential and Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (78 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 238 Ratings = 4.496
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sherwood Forest Residential and Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
