The home is always clean and tidy, the food is well cooked and the staff are always having fun with the residents. The staff member who looks after the games and films is very conscientious. She is always looking for ways of making the residents lives bearable and fun.

Since the activities coordinator took over daytime activities, she has taken a strong stand on involving the residents. Enthusiasm is her middle name. Great girl.

Me and my family find the staff very friendly and helpful. The room is clean and comfortable and the food looks appetising and he seems to eat it all.

My honest opinion would be that on arrival and during the first week, I was satisfied with the care provided for my mum. After that, the care declined each week resulting in my witnessing neglect of my mum who obviously needed help and more care than was provided. She was only at the home for 4 weeks
4 days before having to go into hospital. Had I not demanded a doctor's visit, she would have suffered longer in their care when it was obvious she was in a very bad way. The manager was pleasant but not as involved as she could be. The nurses were not good at all and could not seem to see how ill and distressed my mum was. Some of the staff were inexperienced and not enough staff.
The whole experience has scarred me for life.
My mum passed away early January 2017

As resident has dementia she does not remember to tell us anything. When she had a water infection the nursing assistant on duty came to us as soon as we came in and explained what she had (as the infection had made our friend more confused) and that she had been put on antibiotics to treat the problem.
This was explained to us which we are grateful for.

Staff are brilliant. I could not fault them.
The care and attention my husband (and myself) received while in their care was second to none.
Cannot praise them enough.
Many thanks to all.

Whilst I cannot fault the day to day personal care my Mum had in the 2 1/2 year stay at Cedar Court, I cannot say the same for the management and communication. Only a few hours after my Mum passed away in the night I was 'greeted' by "this is your account balance" by the office staff, not a word of
condolence - nor was I sent any letter or card of sympathy. I got a card from the vet when my dog died!
Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at Cedar Court Care Home

We are pleased to hear that you could not fault the care provided to your mum. Your comments have been passed to management with regards to the timing of requesting the account balance and this has been reflected upon. We can assure you that the whole staff team thought very highly of your mum and staff attended your mother’s funeral as a way of paying their respects.

My parents were both in care homes which we considered at the time to be of a high standard. Cedar Court Care Home, in my opinion, is relaxed, professional and with such dedicated staff. It was a relief to the family to know that we were leaving my wife in such good care. Having unrestricted visiting
times made it easier to call anytime of the day for our family and her friends. We consider that other care homes could learn a lot from the modern approach that Cedar Court Care Home administers.

My mother has been in this care home for 10 months now and being 95 and wasting away on arrival she is now eating well, active and joining in with other residents. The carers have been exceptional with prompting her to be interactive again after being almost a recluse and its lovely to have her back.

Was a trip out to celebrate someones birthday. We went to an area called Faxton Loch and has a very nice lunch followed by a trip around the area. We were well looked after by the carers who were with us and have came in on their day off. It was very nice day and I think all enjoyed themselves.

As per rating below the majority of things are good with a couple needing slight improvements e.g morning activities in lounge are popular but residents could benefit from more outings.
Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at Cedar Court Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. We really value the feedback provided by those who use our services.
We endeavour to have a dedicated Activities Co-Ordinator at each home to ensure a range of engaging and enjoyable activities are provided for all Residents, based on their individual likes and preferences. We have also provided all homes with a minibus so that day trips can be arranged for Residents. Planned outings are offered on a regular basis, last week we visited Foxton Locks. We also have ad-hoc trips in the afternoons especially when the weather is amenable.
At Cedar Court we have an extensive activities programme including group activities such as Zumba classes available every morning for residents to attend if they choose to. Our activity programme is advertised within the home and on the newsletter generated at the beginning of each month.
Thanking you again for taking the time to provide really helpful feedback about the home. We value all feedback and ensure it is recorded and acted upon.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.740)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.740) out of 10 for Cedar Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.759 for Cedar Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.759
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.981 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Court Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.481
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
