Overview

The Review Score of 9.1 (maximum of 10) for Swanholme Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 21 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Swanholme Court Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.108 for Swanholme Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (87 Excellents x 5) + (114 Goods x 4) + (42 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 251 Ratings = 4.108

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Swanholme Court Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 5 positive Reviews (25 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 11 Reviews ÷ 5 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

It's a nice clean and very friendly home, I know mum needs a carers 24/7 which is sad. She loves going to the day centre when it's open, it's just a shame that the two buildings are not allowed to work together (meaning the day centre facilities).
The staff are great with her.

On arrival, I found the home very friendly and warm. The carers were very helpful and I could tell that they had a lot of empathy towards the residents. I have visited many homes over the years and this was one of the better ones - very good impression.

Swanholme Court Care Home is kept in a very clean condition and the staff members are friendly and helpful. The rooms are en-suite which is helpful for those residents who are able to look after their personal hygiene. The care staff work hard to provide activities and entertainment for the residents. The food while well cooked is a bit boring and does not provide the variety produced by the homes previous owners. Parking for visitors can be a bit of a problem.

My father was a temporary resident whilst my mum was in a transitional care bed next door at Eccleshare Court. He spent his first week in there whilst she was in hospital was encouraged to join in activities. He settled very quickly and was reassured by the staff (he had Alzheimer and is often bewildered).
Once my mum was next door, my dad was taken round after breakfast to spend the day with her and brought back after tea. The staff at both homes co-operated to make sure that their stay was a pleasant experience.

As Eccleshare Court/Swanholme Court, the home required improvement, the response to this seems to have been mainly to change the home's name and manager. As a caring daughter of a resident who lives locally, I do not believe I am kept well informed about what is happening to my mother. The size and quality of my mother's room leaves a lot to be desired and the cost as a self-funding user is much higher than for other users which seems grossly unfair. I was also told we would be financially penalised if I did not set up a direct debit payment. Costs have also already risen in 1 year more than I think is acceptable. There is frequently no one to speak to in either of the offices downstairs when I visit my mother often late afternoon and my feeling is that there is the minimum of staff on duty.

Lisa Dent, Home Manager at Swanholme Court Care Home responded to this review on 08 Jun 2017:

We welcome all comments and are working hard to offer a good service to all our residents. We are sorry that you feel that some aspects of the care and environment in the home is not as you would like it we would welcome a chance to discuss this with you as we take any concerns very seriously. Please come and see me next time you visit our home or ring me to arrange a mutually convenient time.

I came here feeling very nervous having not been anywhere like this before but should not have been worried because it was a pleasant experience. The place was clean and the staff could not have been nicer. They put you at ease and made you feel as though they meant what they said and went on and proved what they said

I was very nervous about using the respite facility for my mother who has Dementia. I visited the home previous to mums visit and was shown around by the Manager who patiently answered all my questions and dealt with my doubts. The home was clean, tidy and appeared calm and had a welcoming feel. I was shown the actual room that mum would be staying in, which for me was re-assuring. On collecting my mum, she looked clean and tidy and was sitting in the lounge having a chat with some of the other residents (I had expected her to be looking out of the window, waiting for me!). We collected her things from her room and was given an update on her weekend.
I was told that mum had been very upset when she was collected from the day centre, (as she had forgotten that she was staying there) but had settled down after a while. I was expecting at least a day of drama for leaving mum, but she actually said it wasn't how she had expected it to be and the carers were just normal like us!

My mother was resident in Swanholme in January 2017 until she died on the 16th of February. This followed a spell on the nursing wing at Eccleshare Court Care Home in Lincoln after her discharge from hospital.
In Swanholme - the level of care, consideration and overall attention was on the whole delivered to a high standard. As she moved to an end of life stage, the care shown was excellent and at this difficult time, the staff worked hard to help my mother, ensuring she was comfortable and pain-free as far as this was possible. Communication regarding her situation was very good as well.

Care is excellent, albeit they are well overworked but always have time to help and advise.
My mum left yesterday after her second visit there and she was very happy and the staff are always helpful and made sure mum was safe.
If she is unable to live on her own, I very much wish her to go back to Swanholme Court.
You do need another rotunda as it was needed on both floors and is a very heavy piece of equipment.
Food excellent too.

Having been in hospital due to concussion and confusion after many falls of which I have a history of, my wife needed respite from caring for me and Eccleshare Court Care Home was chosen for my stay for 3 weeks. I was very well looked after and all the staff are friendly and caring. Regular on-time prescriptions of which I have many were dispensed and a GP from my practice was called out promptly when one of my abrasions/cuts was noticed to have become infected. The food was good. With my stay, I chose mainly to stay in my room with the door open as still confused and working things out, but plenty of staff popped in, so I was not isolated and I was not pressured to come out of my room.

I have been a volunteer for more years than I care to remember. Basically, helping with communion twice monthly and each week placing fresh flowers in the entrance. I am delighted to see improvements, such as decorating and crockery (gone, hopefully, thick heavy mugs). Change of name - great - again an individual building, upstairs office no longer a hide-away. Again for the use of residents, as it should be.

My elderly Father who suffers from Alzheimer's and dementia fell at home in early September of 2016 and after a brief stay in the hospital, he was admitted to Eccleshare Court Care home. A home environment was not something he was familiar with but the staff worked diligently to make him comfortable and feel part of the community.
Dad passed away in early December and the care that he received during his last days was exceptional. Every member of staff showed Dad and his family respect and compassion, constantly thinking of his dignity.
I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a home for a family member based on our experience.
