My auntie lived at Swanholme for 18-months until she passed away last month. The staff were always friendly and welcoming. It is a small home with a cost atmosphere. My auntie was well cared for, and treated with dignity and respect. She enjoyed outings to gardens centres and the coast in the homes minibus and the freedom to choose to join in activities in the lounge or stay quietly in her room. Thank you Swanholmw.

We had to put Dad into respite care when Mum became ill. We were unsure to start with as with the present COVID restrictions we were unable to view the home beforehand but once meeting the friendly staff they soon put our minds at ease. Nothing was too much trouble if we couldn’t get hold of Dad, they would take a phone so we could speak as visiting was restricted. We lost Mum whilst Dad was staying and they made sure Dad was always ok, spending time with him so he can talk about Mum. They were really professional and took all the COVID restrictions very seriously. Once dad returned home, he came back looking better than he had for ages and all his belongings were nice and clean. Can’t thank the staff enough for looking after Dad through these tough times.

Since Dad has been at Swanholme Court he has really come out of himself this is because the staff have been fantastic, I have seen the photos of Dad he looks so happy, especially helping out in the kitchen!
Activities have also helped him too in mixing with residents which has definitely helped him with his mental well being.

Thank you to all the staff at Swanholme and look forward to seeing Dad once this Covid-19 has gone.

My husband was in Swanholme for respite care for three weeks. He usually goes for respite at Swanholmes excellent sister home over 40 miles away and where we live, but they were unable to take him, and suggested Swanholme.
I was distressed by the appalling level of care he received, he spent most of the time in a bed with the sides up, something he never needed, even in hospital, he had meals in bed. He had no opportunity to take any part in activities and was grubby, with food around his mouth and his jumper two hours after lunch.
His physical condition had deteriorated and he was unable to move around safely. After a week at home, he was again able to walk ten metres using his stick.

When he left, his medication was returned in a dangerous manner and the times he was supposed to take it were incorrect. Some clothes were missing and no one bothered to say goodbye. Swanholme charges £950 a week for respite, over £200 more than others and the care is inadequate at best.

I liked the friendly welcome as I arrived for my short stay. Everything looked clean and cosy. The staff were lovely, very kind and caring. I enjoyed my food. It was excellent. I was fearful of care homes but found my experience here a happy time. I will miss the staff but hope to call back and see them again.

My mum had a stroke back in September 2019 and spent 7 weeks in hospital, she then went to Swanholme Court Care Home. She spent 4 weeks there and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They helped mum with her progress which was wonderful. My mum is 95 years old and was a determined strong lady who has now managed to return to her home for Christmas. Thank you to all the staff who made that possible.

My 95-year-old mother had a severe stroke in September 2019. Initially, she was not expected to survive. After 8 weeks in the stroke unit, we got respite care in Swanholme Court. The care home gave her the confidence to be independent, maintained her dignity, encouraged her to eat and to attend to personal care. She was often difficult, but every member of staff maintained a positive outlook. They were supportive to the family. I could not thank them enough. Mum returned to live independently partly due to their support. Thank you.

Mum said she was treated very well and felt special.
All staff are extremely kind, looked after her pet budgie which made the experience like home.

Only negative feedback is mum was quite confused, probably not enough water given and taking a while to get walking again (as before respite) Also, no shower given, Mum refused. Gentle encouragement would have been nice for just once in nine days.

The care and kindness shown to my mother and family over the last thirteen months was excellent - especially the end of life care. Unfortunately, due to the progression of her dementia, Mum was unable to access/engage with many of the activities/events organised. We received a warm welcome from all the staff and mum always had a smile for them. A great team who deserve much praise.
