From the moment we met the manager, deputy manager, the lovely carers and staff, Mum and the family have been shown nothing but kindness, care and respect. Mum could easily become agitated and angry but she has settled straight away. Mum is happy, laughing a lot due to the carers and other staff with her. The lovely activity coordinator provides so many activities and Mum is joining in. This is lovely to see. When I visited recently, Mum actually said 'it is lovely here'!

Thank you to you all.

My mum has been a resident since 2021 and we are very happy with the care she is getting. Her room is very clean and tidy all the time, it's bright and warm. The staff at the care home are fantastic and can not praise them enough, what a credit to the home they are. I feel very happy with my mum being here and the rest of the family are. Excellent care.

Mum recently moved here for full-time living, we have found management, senior carers and other carers to be very kind and competent. I especially am impressed with the very lovely activities coordinator, I attended a 'mad hatters' tea party and loved it. The manager is very friendly and approachable, looking after our needs as a family too. Reassuring us along a very upsetting and difficult path.

I couldn't recommend the home enough! The staff go above and beyond to care for the residents and fit with all their needs. They are welcoming and caring to all family - the place feels like home! We, as a family, feel happy leaving Grandma in their care because we know she is safe, happy and cared for amazingly!

Mum has been a resident for 7 months and has received the very best of care. The staff are amazing very knowledgeable about dementia care and genuinely care for their residents and their families. It's the hardest thing to place your mum in care but they have made it so much easier to accept knowing mum is in great hands and is genuinely happy there. I cannot thank the staff and manager for all their continuing help and caring for my precious mum so well.

Mum has been in care for 3 years and we have been extremely happy, generally with the care she has received. It is difficult to comment on some items eg activities as if these are carried out we are never there to witness them.
We don't feel that care for the elderly is good value for money. This is no reflection on the care home but the care system generally.

Mum and dad have lost all their savings to care fees.

My mother has been a resident for fifteen months and although her health has deteriorated in this time, she has received dignified, respectful care at all times and I am always made to feel welcome whatever time of day I visit. My mother's dementia is understood by the caring staff and mum always looks clean and well cared for. I cannot thank them enough for the peace of mind this gives me and my family.

Even though the building may appear a little "tired", that can not be said of the attitude of the staff. They have all welcomed dad. They are friendly and very hard working. All of his individual needs are being assessed, met and monitored. Dad is comfortable and made to feel safe and secure.

Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff, ready with a cuppa at all times. A beautiful environment with skilled and caring staff, fresh, bubbly and energetic.

Overall Experience

My mother was in this care home for a number of years and the staff there were quite simply brilliant. All the staff are trained and sympathetic to the need of residents who lack capacity. The level of care given and the way it was delivered provided constant reassurance to me and other family members. The home is managed very well and every effort is made to make residents comfortable. The kitchen made significant alterations to accommodate changing dietary needs and did so without any fuss. The home is well run and although the decor may be a little dated in certain areas this does not detract from the excellent care given by the staff.

Residents and their families are encouraged to take part in activities and fundraising events and these help to foster good relations. What matters is the standard of care and this was excellent.

My husband who suffered from Parkinson's Disease spent four months in Canwick Court. All the staff were consistently caring, sympathetic, understanding and, above all, cheerful. His speech had become impaired by the PD but they became adept at understanding him in his various likes and dislikes. I cannot praise them all enough for the way in which they looked after him.

I have a couple of comments. I felt the staff are very much overworked, there weren't enough of them. However, they overcame this difficulty with great good humour. The second comment is about the food. I realise that feeding people in care is very complex, providing for the hugely varied needs of the elderly and disabled. but I do feel quite strongly that my husband would have benefited from a more varied diet.

Finally, I and my family were extremely touched by the turnout of staff for his funeral in spite of the difficulties that much have presented.

I was ill - having falls and was give respite care. I ended up in hospital, then returned to the care home. I found the whole episode frightening and distressing. At the home I was made welcome and at ease, the staff were so friendly and helpful. They encouraged me to eat and drink, soon I was feeling right at home. My independence was encouraged, but where I couldn't manage their interaction was so professional I never felt any embarrassment. The home is inviting - sweet smelling and fresh - the staff smart and well trained.

Visited the home during a busy period. there was a warm friendly atmosphere and staff were buzzing around and caring, having fun with the residents.
I did notice that information boards ie. menu and staff on duty looked untidy and were not up to date.

The grounds of the care home at the bottom of the car-park were in a deplorable state with old chalets left to rot. Clearly a health and safety issue. My mother loves living at Canwick Court.

Reply from Denise West, Head of Care, England at Canwick Court Care Centre

We appreciate the comments of GK and would like to note that the works to the car park and grounds are ongoing following the road works to the main road by Lincoln County Council which have had an adverse affect on the premises. Hopefully these will be fully addressed during 2016. Your comments...
