The Review Score of 4.3 out of 10 for Stewton House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 2.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Stewton House in Google's Search Results – more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 1.6 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 48 months. (A 48 month period has been used as there were no positive reviews in the last 24 months)
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 2.792 for Stewton House is calculated as follows: ( (1 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 2.792
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews; 3.00 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 1.552 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stewton House is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 48 months and is calculated as follows:
3.00 = 3 then divided by 2 = 1.500
Target of 9.6 positive Reviews (48 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 9.6 Target = 0.104, then divided by 2 = 0.052
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Review submitted on 17 April 2018 from a Website Submission by Jessica L (Granddaughter of Resident). on Tuesday 17 April 2018 . Relates to April 2018.
My grandmother in law moved here just over two months ago, and immediately alarm bells were ringing for herself and family members. The care she received was diabolical.
She was often left alone for long periods of time alone. Recently we were made aware that on one occasion, she was left for a whole hour with no response on pressing her call bell. May I add that she had a stroke before Christmas, and therefore was in 'high dependency' care.
Some of the younger staff were very good at their jobs, however, in my experience, the older staff that had been there long time were set in their ways, and were not effective communicators or remotely compassionate.
The lift was broken for weeks, meaning she had to stay upstairs and was often isolated.
These issues were brought to the attention of the manager, who said that she could not explain these issues and did not have an answer. The decision was made to withdraw her from Stewton House for her own safety and wellbeing.

Review submitted on 10 March 2016 from a Website Submission by Paula S (Resident). on Thursday 10 March 2016 . Relates to January 2016.
My Mum spent three happy years in this Nursing Home, cared for by a team of dedicated professionals.
Mum suffered a severe stroke in 2012, and was left wheelchair dependent and fed through a feeding tube, nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff. Even on their really busy days where they seemed to be rushed off their feet, they always had a smile on their face, and remained calm and professional. We used the home's mini bus that is designed for wheelchair users, to take Mum out for the day, this gave us lots of happy memories over the years. When there was a problem with Mum I felt that it was sorted out quickly with clear lines of communication between the manager and myself. My Dad was always welcomed into the Home and would have lunch there with the other residents so that he could spend more time with Mum, (they were a devoted couple). Mum sadly passed away in January 2016.
Well done Stewton House and thank you for all the care and support you gave to Mum and her family.
