We are pleased with the care the service user has received thus far and that the service user is encouraged to participate in many activities when they have been at their lowest. However, communication between staff and families needs much improvement as the service user's needs are changing all the
time and it would be nice to be updated by telephone once a week, as they have lots of news.

My dad has settled reasonably well in his first month. The food is good and the staff are all very pleasant and upbeat. The activities are varied and enjoyed by residents. Dad was thrilled with the scrapbook about his life skillfully made by the activities team.

During my time at Woodview, there was a lively and engaging atmosphere. All residents were offered the chance to join the Christmas fair and appeared to be enjoying themselves. The areas I saw were kept very clean and tidy and staff were nice.

Although my mother was only in Woodview for a short period the care and support she received was excellent. Then nursing and Care staff were so polite, helpful and friendly it made a difficult time easier. They were kind and considerate and always treated my mother with dignity and respect. Although
very busy they took time to talk with us and explain my mother's condition. During the last hours of her life, the staff showed great kindness towards us, I can't praise them enough.

So on behalf of our family, our sincere thanks go out to the Manager and all the members of her team.

The care home is good, though rather noisy at night! Carers very attentive and helpful. You can do as you like, go to bed when you like. It is a home from home - food is OK, the cook uses puff pastry when normal pastry will do (it is difficult to cut up).

My sister has been at Woodview in Branston for some 10 months and I have visited her regularly. During this time, I have always found the staff to be very professional and caring. They seem to have infinite patience with the residents despite the obvious difficulties encountered and the demands on their
time. I have nothing but praise for the way my sister is being cared for.

Current Review Score: 7.0 (7.035)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.0 (7.035) out of 10 for Woodview Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.3 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.343 for Woodview Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (28 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (21 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 3.343
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.692 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodview Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.6 = 0.317
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
