My father has been a resident for over four years. I have no doubt without their care he would not of survived. He is not the most sociable person but has made many friends among the residents and staff. His room is always tidy, warm and well lit. He enoys all the meals, says they feed him too much.
He receives plenty of help with his mobile phone and charger, which he misplaces often. Overall I am very satisfied with the care and attention my father receives.

After a few initial issues and problems which had to be sorted, we have found the home clean and accommodating. The staff are amazing and the activities seem to keep residents active, as long as they stay awake.
Staff are available to answer questions and resolve and ease any worries or issues

This a well run home. The staff are very approachable, diligent and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them and father is appreciative of what they do for him and it is clear he is happy in his surroundings.
On the basis of the above I would have no hesitation in recomending the home to others.

My sister-in-law has recently become a resident in Olive Row Care Home. She is very happy there and has stated that the care, food, and activities are very good. On visiting, I have always been satisfied that she is happy and well looked after, the staff are always pleasant and always answer any questions
asked with confidence and knowledge of my sister-in-law's needs. We are very happy with the care she receives, and she is very happy there.

My mam's concern is the phone that does not get answered. An admin person is needed. One is the staff is my main point of contact. Overall clean rooms, food good, etc. Admission door bell needs fixing. Nurses should be permanent as no continuity with agency staff.

After teething problems and change of management things have improved but I am disappointed with activities and staff turnover in this area is rapid it seems.
Current management seems much better. I feel the place could be more comfortable looking, hard floors and pleather seating makes the lounge
not feel lounge like.
Much personal stuff was sent to the home - duvet, duvet covers, pillows etc, I haven't seen this for a while.
A better arrangement for incidental costs would be good, a separate bill sent out each month?

My grandmother has always been taken care of and I've never had concerns about her well-being.
The premises are always clean and tidy and residents all seem to be tended to in a timely manner.
My grandmother appears to be content at Olive Row which gives huge peace of mind to us.

After a period in hospital, Mum lost lots of weight, became incontinent and listless. She moved to Olive Row in November 2023 and within a short time, and much to her relief, the nursing staff helped her to no longer be incontinent. She is back to her normal weight as she enjoys the food prepared for
her. She has made friends and enjoys the activities as she finds them stimulating. Both herself and us are happy with Olive Row as we know she is safe, happy and well looked after. Mum actually refers to it as her new family!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.590)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.590) out of 10 for Olive Row Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.590 for Olive Row Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (183 Excellents x 5) + (78 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 278 Ratings = 4.59
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Olive Row Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
