from the day my uncle was sent to the home by the hospital, he settled, we liked the general nice feeling the management and staff gave off towards everyone. We chose for him to stay on a permanent basis.

I've got no concerns with my Dad's care at Red Oaks, all staff do their best for Dad. In the warmer months, I do think they should try and arrange outings to nearby places, as the residents seem to be in one area and I don't think this is doing much for the resident's mental health, even if they ask the resident's family to help out. More entertainment would be nice.

Mum entered as an end-of-life resident and received the best care we could have wished for. She was treated with respect and care by every member of staff.
The staff were so supportive of the whole family as we went along this journey and gave so much support to us all.
I would recommend this home to everyone who needs to pass their loved one to the care of a home.
Mum had been in a different home for a month before moving here from the hospital and the staff and care at her previous home were not at the same level of Red Oaks Care Community.

I will be forever grateful to the staff.

Friendly, caring staff who are all approachable.
Any concerns have been allayed and remedied where applicable. Prior to his admission, my father was beru agitated and aggressive at times. He settled in the care home within days and is now calm and settled into the new environment.

I didn't want my father to go into a care home, but seeing how happy he is has made me appreciate what they do for him and how appropriate his admission was.

Our family was very apprehensive when placing father-in-law into the care home. The introduction and settling in has been seamless and worry-free. Any problems and complications due to his condition have been dealt with promptly. We cannot thank them enough. He is cared for in a safe and happy environment.

The care home has been very good towards my auntie, helped her recovery along. If it wasn't for them she would have been bed-bound. She is now able to walk with a frame, eat by herself and communicate better. She had a bad stroke and we were told she wouldn't walk again. Red Oaks Care Community spent time helping her and she gained the ability to do things for herself. We cannot thank them enough. Staff are very caring and patient.

My auntie has been a resident since January 2023. It is because of the care and attention she has received that she started to walk again and gained the use of her left side, which having a stroke stopped working, she could not walk or eat by herself and was bed-bound until she came to Red Oaks Care Community. We have to commend Red Oaks on their determination towards her and now she has a better quality of life so thank you.

Review from Nancy C (Sister of Resident) published on 5 July 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I live in Scotland and so do not visit the this Care Home regularly. On 17th June 2018 my sister and I visited Red Oaks Care Home unannounced. When we arrived our sister the service user was sitting and chatting with some of the staff and looked very happy. She told us that she was very well cared for and loved all the staff. She was dressed nicely and was clean. She was also wearing her ear rings, bracelet and other jewellery, which she likes. We found the staff and the management to be very helpful, friendly and professional. We noted that all staff treated the residents with dignity and genuinely cared for them all. The care home is bright and cheerful.

My sister's room and the ensuite were spotless. We were also impressed with the idea of the wish tree where residents can place their wishes on the tree. My sister and I went home very happy, feeling very confident that our sister - the service user - would be well looked after and cared for in Red Oaks care home.

I love this home for my mother. The staff are so respectful and courteous and obviously do this as a vocation and not just a job, they are so caring and loving to all the residents it is wonderful to see. They knock every time they enter a room and genuinely care about the residents like family members not like patients. The activities vary every day and captivate the attention of my mother who suffers from vascular dementia. Day trips out, break up the day to day life and music therapy reminds me of songs my mother sang in my childhood. The housekeeping staff do an excellent job and treat the residents like family members. The home is well run and managed by a wonderful lady who always has time for a chat no matter how inconsequential the subject matter. The home is being fully renovated and even the renovations are managed to reduce stress to the residents.

Red Oaks care community is a community, All the staff care and are not just there for the money or a job, their actions on a day to day basis shows the love and affection that they hold for all the service users and nothing is too much trouble. They treat people like family. The manager has an open-door policy and is easy to talk too about and concerns you may have about a relative. The housekeeping staff take pride in their work. The catering staff cook fresh nutritious meals daily and make birthday cakes for every resident. If the service user refuses to eat what’s on the menu they go out of their way to prepare something special just for that person to tempt them to eat. The specialist dementia care activities coordinator is nothing short of brilliant with a large array of activities to keep the mind active.

I cannot express how good this service is, it is so good my Grandmothers sister was moved to this home from another one, the staff are wonderful! It is clean, warm and inviting. The service users are well cared for and entertained. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone. There is tea and coffee available 24 hrs a day. The food is home made and absolutely wonderful, since moving here my grandma seems so much happier, she suffers from dementia but at least now she is settled and happy. I cannot thank this home enough for that. I would recommend this home to anyone who needs residential or nursing care, they are the best around this area, before moving my grandmother here my family looked at 11 in the local area and none of the others compared. Thank you again for the wonderful service you provide.

My mother has been here for at least 6 months, she has breathing and heart problems and dementia. I cannot believe the level of care she gets, the nurses and carers are fantastic, they are so friendly and look after the residents brilliantly. My mother is warm, well fed and cared for.

1st class all round. If they put Avalon and staff management etc. in the Olympics they would achieve gold. Out of all the homes my mother-in-law and my handicapped son have had Avalon is by far the best.

The staff are all very helpful but can be very busy at times due to the diverse needs of the residents. All our concerns about our mother have been addressed and any requests have been met within the constraints of the carers working guidelines.
We like the fact that there is an activity co-ordinator working there 5 days a week which provides stimulation for the residents. Some areas of the home do look a little "tired" e.g carpeting but this is due to wear and tear and should not be confused with being unclean.

The nurses are very helpful and answer medical queries for us. The residents are toileted regularly and our mother is dressed in clean and different clothes every day. We are very happy with this care home.

Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at Red Oaks Care Community

Thank you for identifying that some areas look tired because of wear and tear and not because they are unclean. We make every effort to ensure the carpets are as well maintained as possible and these are vacuumed daily. Nevertheless, the carpets in the main entrance and corridors have been...

My mum has been a resident at Avalon for two years until her death on 21st November, the staff were so caring, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Mum was always kept clean and tidy, just as she would have wanted, being a very smart and well dressed woman before the ravages of Alzheimer's took her dignity, pride and personality.

Carly Creswell
Carly CreswellJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2020

Hello, my name is Carly, and I am the newly appointed Home Manager of Red Oaks. My connection to Red Oaks goes back to 1999, when I first joined the home as a Care Assistant, not long after the home first opened. I remained there for a number of years before I stepped away when I became a mum, but returned in early 2020 and haven't looked back.

Over the years, I have grown into every part of Red Oaks, becoming - I hope - a familiar and trusted face for staff, residents and families alike.

I progressed through the team to Deputy Manager before being promoted to Home Manager in April 2026. My love for Red Oaks is genuine, and I hope that shows - in the culture of the home, in the relationships I build, and in the standard of care we deliver here every day. I am excited to see where we can take Red Oaks Care Home.
