The home was originally built as a local authority care home, designed from the outset to serve the people of this historic Nottinghamshire market town - and that sense of purpose and community connection has never left it. After passing through private ownership, the home joined the Oak Tree Care Group in 2016. Situated on Strawberry Hall Lane, just...

My friend is very happy living at Strawberry Fields. She enjoys the range of activities, food is well served and looks appetising, and her hygiene appearance needs are met. As her LPA, I am kept informed and feel included in her care, which is individualised and appropriate. Excellent communication continues through the Covid-19 pandemic.

The team at Strawberry Fields always show great care and compassion to all the residents. The has shown during the recent pandemic lockdown, allowing families to Skype their loved ones, holding a VE Day party and allowing relatives to call whenever they want to. Updates on social media and a newsletter letting us know what they've been up to is a big reassurance.

It is very difficult for me to answer because of lockdown as I have been unable to visit my husband during his stay, however, my experience on the telephone has been excellent. My husband has said the food is very good and he has praised the staff highly.

Excellent care. I have no worries about the care my mother is receiving. I can see that the staff care about the residents and include all residents in activities even if they don't really respond. I have been very impressed with the activity staff who encourage the residents to engage in creative and varied activities.

A very welcoming, clean fresh environment. My family member looks so well and settled. The care staff are warm, friendly and extremely helpful. Even with the Covid lockdown, I am able to contact my family member via Skype if required. Thank you for caring for her so well.

A brilliant care home with very caring staff they go that extra mile by trying to help with anything that worries you. They help with our relatives stay the best they can. They are all happy while they are working and getting the residents to join in when they have sing-songs and dancing. They treat the residents like family which is lovely.

It is a very loving care home. From what I see, everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Mum is well cared for and I do not have any worries at all. I know that when I am not around Mum will be ok.

I would highly recommend Strawberry Fields as an excellent care home. The staff are all well presented, friendly, professional and caring. The care home is always spotlessly clean and the living rooms and dining room all have lovely views out of the large windows. There are excellent choices of fresh cooked meals every day and lots of different activities for residents to take part in. The bedrooms are all really homely with plenty of storage. There's always a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and staff are always happy to help.

Strawberry Fields is lovely. The staff are very helpful but more importantly kind. Nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. All meals are homemade and fresh. Unfortunately, the exterior of the care home does not reflect the high standards of care found inside.

I find the care home very clean and tidy when I visit. The staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The staff are constantly dealing with the needs of residents. They try and get the majority of the residents to interact with the activities within the home, ie quiz, bingo, baking, pamper days. The residents all seem content and happy within their surroundings. I enjoy coming for my visits.

Whilst the fabric of the building remains tired and in need of attention, the staff are very friendly and helpful to residents and visitors.

I visit the home regularly to see my mother who has been in the home for 6 years.

Overall Experience
My husband is in the middle stages of Alzheimer's Disease. This home was chosen for him as it claims specialist knowledge of Alzheimer's and speech difficulties. During his several months' residency, issues arose.
These included daytime staff supervision, night-time staff ratios, staff training and experience, protocol following injury, laundry, cognitive stimulation and hygiene. Residents' behavioural difficulties seemed largely uninformed by outside expertise. Many of the care assistants were lovely, compassionate people who absolutely did their best every day for the residents.

The home itself looks quite institutional on the outside but is pleasant and light-filled inside, and the dining room looks out over the peaceful and extensive lawn area. The home has potential to be a caring and compassionate space for people who need professional care and human kindness as they reach this most vulnerable stage in their lives.
