My brother has been in the care home for a few years. I have thought he has always been looked after well as my brother can be a bit abrupt at times but staff never let this get to them one staff member takes time on her days off to take him into Mansfield which he does enjoy the staff work hard to
achieve a really nice and homely home the home manager is really good always keeping me up to date with things so I would like to say a big thank you from all of our family.

I was not allowed to come home after being discharged from hospital. I was placed in The Sycamore Care Home until carers could be put in place at my own home to look after me.
I was highly delighted with the service I received whilst in care. The beds were good and the rooms were clean and airy.
The
carers in place were good and handled me with dignity. They all seemed to enjoy their work. I cannot fault this home in any way.

Mum's 87th birthday coincided with the official opening of the adjoining 'Poplers'. I was assisted to take Mum across to watch the entertainment. It was no trouble to the staff.

Whilst there, she was presented with a card and Birthday balloon and sung to which was lovely and we both enjoyed tea

and cake. Back in The Sycamore staff presented Mum with a Birthday cake lit with candles and more Happy Birthday singing. We both enjoyed tea and cake again. I felt very welcome. All staff in both homes were caring and kind. Thank you.

When a relative is admitted to a care home we worry that they will not be properly looked after or stimulated in unfamiliar surroundings/faces they become distressed/depressed. This home has an air of happy competent support with lots of laughter and chatter. The rooms are beautiful and homely and visitors
and residents are treated with the utmost respect. Clothes are laundered and ironed well, food is good and never a smell of urine (or other) when you walk in reflecting the standard of care throughout this facility. My step-father is happy from day one and looks 10 years younger. It feels like one big family supporting one another this reflects directly on the management as an organisation is only ever as good as the one at the top.

Knowing that the standard of care and commitment that she is receiving and has continued to receive from day one (April 2016).
All of the staff are just amazing and we as a family are so very grateful for them
giving mum, and us the care and support over this past year, we would not change a thing, they are all amazing and for that, we are all truly grateful.

From my initial visit in February 2017, when looking for a care home, I found the atmosphere cheerful. The staff were kind and informative. I had a conducted tour of the home, which I found clean and tidy. I selected a room there and then and made my decision that this would be a suitable place for
my husband and my opinion hasn't changed.

My mother passed away in this care home April 2017, the staff and nurse were fantastic with us. My Dad was there on my Mam's last day from 8.15 in the morning and they kept popping into her room to bring him tea/coffee/food as well as what ever he needed. Nothing was too much trouble, I would like to
say a big THANK YOU to everyone involved.
When my Mum was in her last hours most of the care worker that had been involved with her in her five-year stay here, came and said goodbye and gave her a kiss, very emotional. Highly recommend this care home the staff are great and nothing is to much trouble.

Love and best wishes to you all x x

I have always been satisfied with the care and attention my father has received since he became a resident.
It is not the most modern of buildings but for me, it is the care and humour of the dedicated staff that is far more important, they go over and above the call of duty.

Pleased with mum's health care. The carers are very good at their job, but they are very stretched with their time to have a few minutes to have time with them but they do their best. Have had problems with her clothing not wearing new clothes that we have bought.

Current Review Score: 7.7 (7.699)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.7 (7.699) out of 10 for The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.435 for The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (14 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.435
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.264 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.139
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2024

I joined Springcare in June 2024 as the Manager for Sycamore and Poplars Care Home. With over 18 years of experience in the NHS and social care industry, my passion for caregiving has been the driving force throughout my career. My journey began at Thames Valley University London where I trained to be an RGN. I have held various roles including RGN, Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager, and Home Manager, each contributing to my deep commitment to providing exceptional care.

Living with my grandmother during her last five years and participating in her care profoundly enriched my dedication to the field. Making a positive difference has always been my motto and motivation. I embrace the challenges in my career as they inspire me to grow and improve continually. Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my family and enjoy cooking. I participate in marathons to raise funds for worthy causes, combining my love for fitness with philanthropy. To unwind, I delight in reading a good old-fashioned hardcover book.
