Review of

Newton Hall Care Home

from R M (Brother of Resident) published on 20 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My brother, who previously lived alone and is very set in his ways, had to move into a care home. Despite this, the Managers, Care Staff, Catering team, and Activities Coordinator at Newton Hall have all warmly welcomed him and have taken their time to get to know him. They've all gone out of their
way to help him settle in and make living in Newton Hall comfortable.
His individual needs are respected, and he is always treated with dignity. He joins in activities when he chooses, and it is equally respected when he prefers not to.
Security is excellent and reassuring. I am consistently welcomed with kindness, and the staff are friendly and approachable, with a nurse in charge always available to speak with.
The lounges are bright and welcoming, with space to socialise, and the gardens are pleasant with a covered seating area.
We are very grateful for the care, compassion, and commitment shown by everyone at the home.

Review of

Sandiway Lodge Nursing Home

from Mike W (Son of Resident) published on 20 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum was a resident at Sandiway Lodge for 10 months. Throughout this time she received excellent care from the wonderful team at Sandiway Lodge. Family were always made to feel welcome when visiting and residents are treated with kindness and dignity. The whole of the staff team including nursing, care
staff, domestic staff, kitchen staff and management are friendly, caring and professional. As mum's health deteriorated in her last few weeks, the level of care and compassion that she received was truly exceptional. Family were welcome to be with her at any time, we were treated with great compassion and offered drinks, food and even a bed for the night.
I would not hesitate to recommend Sandiway Lodge to anyone who wanted a loved one to receive the best possible care.

My Mum moved to Sandiway Lodge after a respite stay at a residential home as it was clear she needed a higher level of care. She was reticent at first, being fiercely independent her whole life. She also wasn't always the easiest resident to care for (tirelessly ignoring safely advice and protocols
about moving around unaided, even after repeated falls when she'd lived by herself, and even once mischievously acquiring the door code to break out so she could take a brief walk around the gardens, much to the terror of the staff, spring to mind!). But the care and affection the staff had for her was always evident (my Mum was a keen artist and without asking they bought her a table for all her art projects, as well as a dressing table so she could sit and put on her make up in the morning...just out of pure kindness), and she too had such affection for them and was so grateful for all the kindnesses they showered upon her.
I too wish to share my gratitude to all who cared so much for her.

Westwood Hall Nursing Home

My Mum moved to Westwood Hall in the summer of 2025 as my Dad who was suffering from stage 4 cancer could no longer look after her at home. My Dad then himself became too ill to be at home and following a brief spell in hospital he was also lucky enough to become resident for several months on end of
life care. My Dad sadly passed away in December and my Mum still remains at Westwood Hall.
My Dad could not commend Westwood Hall high enough as do all of our family. The staff are all so friendly, cooperative and extremely approachable. The management are impeccable and extremely supportive and maintain excellent standards. The Dining hall, front lounge and main lounge are a perfect environment for the residents to feel "away" from their rooms and the external grounds in the summer months provide a calm exterior escape for both residents and visiting family. The home feels like an extension to our own home as we come and go frequently which says it all. Superb.

My Mum has been a resident at Westwood Hall since March 2025. She suffers with dementia and as a consequence now her mobility is severely impaired. In my opinion Westwood Hall is a well managed facility, clean, warm and welcoming to residents and visitors alike. All the staff, Nurses, Carers, Auxiliary
staff are professional, caring and friendly creating a homely atmosphere whilst ensuring residents have the appropriate level of care for their needs.
Entertainment is well planned and caters for all, the office support is strong and nothing appears to much trouble. Catering is good and the gardens are kept beautifully.
I have had very few concerns in respect to my Mum's welfare but any issues that have been raised have been resolved quickly and to our full satisfaction. Thanks to all the team for their on going care and support.

I wrote a review a while ago after my wife had been in Westwood Hall for nine months, in which I praised the Home for professionalism and caring of the staff, with friendliness for both residents and visitors. After more than two years, my wife still feels well cared for and I agree and cannot add
anything except regret that her being bedridden stops her using the facilities and gardens.

Mum was with Westwood Hall 18 month ago, and we had every confidence she was being cared for. Sadly mum passed away after 6 months, then dad needed more care and he too, went to Westwood Hall. My sister and I, and my dad, again have every confidence in this home. The manager and all the team ate great.
Highly recommend!! Nothing is too much trouble everyone us caring, attentive and listens to dad and ourselves. Great atmosphere and thank every member of staff for taking care of our precious mum and dad.

My Father went into Westwood Hall in April 2025. He has dementia with Alzheimers and it was a worry for us when he first went into nursing care at Westwood Hall. Dad settled into Westwood very easily and is happy there, the staff all know him by name and are very friendly to all residents and visitors.
The food always looks nice and all Dads needs are met at Westwood. Would not hesitate to recommend

From my initial visit as I researched homes for my wife with dementia, I was impressed by the sense of family between residents and staff. I left that visit already knowing that my wife would be genuinely cared for.
I subsequently moved my wife in on 4th Nov and almost immediately knew it was the
right decision as I visited and got to know how the residents were treated with respect and humour. My wife is clearly happy and content.

Dad is always well looked after here, by cheerful and attentive staff.
He always enjoys his food.
He enjoys his occasional trips out on the minibus, and also the entertainment that takes place.
He also has a ladyfriend who is also a resident, that gives them both a daily interest.

Wellington House 1-2-1 ..after several months of issues it was agreed that mum could move to wellington I only wish this has been done sooner, the difference this has made to mum is great , she is more calm, settled, relaxed and most importantly less anxious and I can't thank the staff enough for the
time and care they give and for taking the time to understand what her needs are .I go daily and at different times and the staff are always busy tending to residents .the carers and the nursing staff seem to be a great team, friendly and hard working making sure all residents are seen to even when short staffed, we are happy with mum's room which is cosy and has plenty of space .Food is a let down for soft diets there is no option and consists of mashed potatoes for both dinner and tea with a bit of meat and 1 veg and pudding is usually a yoghurt, mouse supper is cereal .I have been assured for the last 12 months this is being addressed however I have yet to see any improvement..

The staff are amazing at Sandiway Lodge. They are all polite and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The care and attention was above and beyond and they keep you informed at all times.
Staff are all permanent and they also have a nurses onsite 24 hours. They don't use agency temp staff, so
you see the same smiling faces.
Rooms are all clean and tidy and the residents all look happy and relaxed.

It was a difficult time for the family, but the care staff and management made the move seamless. The level of care, respect and dignity was never less than excellent throughout the whole experience. They all work as a great team and each member of staff was thoroughly professional and always approachable
and always looked after the family during their visits. The building itself is very special and parking was never an issue.
I can't recommend this care home enough and wanted to thank all the staff for their kindness

Staff always greeted me with a smile and warm welcome and Nan felt at home instantly which was nice.
You could tell staff had a genuine care for her and it never came across as just

a job.

All residents on my visits also seemed relaxed and well cared for, I never noticed any lingering smells and the room and communal areas were always clean, tidy and well maintained, She also never had dirty clothes on and always looked presentable
Thank you to the whole team who looked after my Nan in one way or another.

My cousin was a resident at Oxton Grange for many years. The care was excellent throughout her time there, right up to her recent death at the age of 96. She considered OG to be her home and had a good rapport with all the staff, who respected her and made her life enjoyable. It was a joy to see her
so happy and it was comforting that she ended her days amongst her "family" at Oxton Grange.
Her family would recommend Oxton Grange to any prospective families looking for a place for their loved one.
