Sandiway Lodge Nursing Home

My mum moved to the home when she was no longer able to live independently and lived there for over 2 years. She was welcomed from the start and received a lot of support in adjusting to her new situation. She celebrated her 104th and 105th birthdays there, with lovely parties on both occasions. When
it became clear that the end was near the staff did all they could to keep us as a family well informed and to make her comfortable. She passed away peacefully in the home in her own bed and in a room she knew well which was important to her and her family.

The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home

Over the Christmas period the staff did their utmost to make it a very happy festive season for the residents and for visitors too. We enjoyed the cheerfulness of the decorations and the beautifully decorated live Christmas tree in the lounge with a staff member carefully following the strict instructions
of a resident! During the extremely cold spell afterwards the carers and the caretaker made every effort to make sure that the residents were warm and comfortable. To return to the events of Christmas Day, the cook of the day is to be praised for serving such a wonderful traditional meal for us all. Once again I would like to stress the great care which is taken with the complete accuracy of our medication and specific dietary needs.

Brimstage Manor

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife has been at Brimstage Manor for 18 months. Doubts about moving from home have been eased by the care she's having, the family atmosphere, and how she's settled. The staff, in whatever role, are cheerful and engage sensitively with residents. Attentive and personal care is matched to people's
personalities and needs. Activities are enthusiastically led and organised. On-site management is brilliant: the manager and deputy are committed, imaginative and lead by example - their positive approach with residents, staff and relatives bringing significant improvements. Having five different social areas to choose from is important; the recent refurbishment of the home has made a big difference to its comfort and social life. During a recent illness the nursing care for my wife, and liaison with the GP, was excellent. On Christmas Day she was sufficiently recovered for us to have lunch together in her room, the table beautifully decorated and the service like being at a restaurant!
Reply from Macie Cox, Marketing Executive at Brimstage ManorThank you so much for taking the time to write such a heartwarming review. Hatton Court Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife has dementia with quite complex emotional needs. She was in 2 previous care homes and really could not settle. From the first sight of her room at Hatton Court, she seemed more settled. Staff have built a really good, caring relationship with her and react very well to her sometimes challenging
behaviours. She has had quite a few falls, but each time the medical care/regime has been spot on. I feel confident she is in a caring environment. I felt a large amount of guilt when I had to move her to a care home, but I know she is being well cared for by manager to cleaning staff, and everyone is between. A big thank you to all the staff at Hatton Court.

Brockhampton Court is a lovely care home with friendly, caring staff who treat residents with respect and kindness. It has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and provides excellent care. Park House Care Home

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Park House has cared for several members of my family, they were treated with respect and dignity. My mum is now a resident there, and she is well looked after, and she always says how nice the staff are to her. She always looks clean, and her room is always tidy. My only negative is that it's virtually
impossible to gain access during holiday times. My daughter waited almost an hour on Boxing Day and gave up in the end. I have mentioned this to management, and they said they would look into it. Someone should always be available to answer the door to family and relatives. Waiting this long is unacceptable.
Reply from Macie Cox, Marketing Executive at Park House Care HomeThank you so much for all of your positive feedback, we really appreciate it here at Park House! Canal Vue

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
Received a call from Management on 25th November giving me 28 days to move my husband who has Alzheimers. He had been there for 2 weeks. She told me there were 33 incidents of bad behaviour-none of which I had been informed. (Even though I visited frequently and had been told that everything was ok).
When I asked to see the Incident Log I was refused. I managed to acquire a copy and the incidents were normal behaviour for someone with Alzheimers. One incident said he refused to put his slippers on! It said that he didn't understand that he couldn't walk around and enter peoples rooms. People with dementia don't understand rules or being told their behaviour is not appropriate. Management don't seem to be aware of this. They were told about his behaviour but say they weren't. I don't feel they assessed him properly. Before the move I was told of lots of activities. In reality staff seem happy to make residents sit around when the activities person is unavailable. The homes policy is to rotate staff daily between floors so residents don't see familiar faces regularly. I don't think this is good for people with dementia.
Reply from Macie Cox, Marketing Executive at Canal VueThank you for sharing your feedback and we are sorry to hear that this experience was upsetting.

We understand that Alzheimer's and dementia can present complex behaviours, which are approached with compassion and understanding by our trained staff. In some instances, ongoing assessment shows that a more specialised care environment is required to safely meet a resident's needs. In such cases, it is our duty to ensure the individual is placed in the most appropriate care setting for their needs.

It is our responsibility to ensure that the wellbeing, safety, and dignity of all our residents are maintained at all times. We acknowledge the importance of open dialogue with families. We would also like to reassure you that a wide range of daily activities take place within the home, outlined in our activities timetable.

Thank you again for your feedback, which we take seriously as part of our ongoing commitment to learning and improvement.

Newton Hall Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My brother, who previously lived alone and is very set in his ways, had to move into a care home. Despite this, the Managers, Care Staff, Catering team, and Activities Coordinator at Newton Hall have all warmly welcomed him and have taken their time to get to know him. They've all gone out of their
way to help him settle in and make living in Newton Hall comfortable.
His individual needs are respected, and he is always treated with dignity. He joins in activities when he chooses, and it is equally respected when he prefers not to.
Security is excellent and reassuring. I am consistently welcomed with kindness, and the staff are friendly and approachable, with a nurse in charge always available to speak with.
The lounges are bright and welcoming, with space to socialise, and the gardens are pleasant with a covered seating area.
We are very grateful for the care, compassion, and commitment shown by everyone at the home.

Mum was a resident at Sandiway Lodge for 10 months. Throughout this time she received excellent care from the wonderful team at Sandiway Lodge. Family were always made to feel welcome when visiting and residents are treated with kindness and dignity. The whole of the staff team including nursing, care
staff, domestic staff, kitchen staff and management are friendly, caring and professional. As mum's health deteriorated in her last few weeks, the level of care and compassion that she received was truly exceptional. Family were welcome to be with her at any time, we were treated with great compassion and offered drinks, food and even a bed for the night.
I would not hesitate to recommend Sandiway Lodge to anyone who wanted a loved one to receive the best possible care.

Sandiway Lodge Nursing Home

My Mum moved to Sandiway Lodge after a respite stay at a residential home as it was clear she needed a higher level of care. She was reticent at first, being fiercely independent her whole life. She also wasn't always the easiest resident to care for (tirelessly ignoring safely advice and protocols
about moving around unaided, even after repeated falls when she'd lived by herself, and even once mischievously acquiring the door code to break out so she could take a brief walk around the gardens, much to the terror of the staff, spring to mind!). But the care and affection the staff had for her was always evident (my Mum was a keen artist and without asking they bought her a table for all her art projects, as well as a dressing table so she could sit and put on her make up in the morning...just out of pure kindness), and she too had such affection for them and was so grateful for all the kindnesses they showered upon her.
I too wish to share my gratitude to all who cared so much for her.

Westwood Hall Nursing Home

My Mum moved to Westwood Hall in the summer of 2025 as my Dad who was suffering from stage 4 cancer could no longer look after her at home. My Dad then himself became too ill to be at home and following a brief spell in hospital he was also lucky enough to become resident for several months on end of
life care. My Dad sadly passed away in December and my Mum still remains at Westwood Hall.
My Dad could not commend Westwood Hall high enough as do all of our family. The staff are all so friendly, cooperative and extremely approachable. The management are impeccable and extremely supportive and maintain excellent standards. The Dining hall, front lounge and main lounge are a perfect environment for the residents to feel "away" from their rooms and the external grounds in the summer months provide a calm exterior escape for both residents and visiting family. The home feels like an extension to our own home as we come and go frequently which says it all. Superb.
