Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to give residents and visitors such a lovely Christmas the Christmas decorations and activities went above and beyond. Not only are the rooms kept very clean and tidy but the grounds around the building are kept the same not an easy task at this time of year
and always food and cups of tea in abundance. Happy new year to everyone.

My Mum moved to Westwood Hall in the summer of 2025 as my Dad who was suffering from stage 4 cancer could no longer look after her at home. My Dad then himself became too ill to be at home and following a brief spell in hospital he was also lucky enough to become resident for several months on end of
life care. My Dad sadly passed away in December and my Mum still remains at Westwood Hall.
My Dad could not commend Westwood Hall high enough as do all of our family. The staff are all so friendly, cooperative and extremely approachable. The management are impeccable and extremely supportive and maintain excellent standards. The Dining hall, front lounge and main lounge are a perfect environment for the residents to feel "away" from their rooms and the external grounds in the summer months provide a calm exterior escape for both residents and visiting family. The home feels like an extension to our own home as we come and go frequently which says it all. Superb.

My Mum has been a resident at Westwood Hall since March 2025. She suffers with dementia and as a consequence now her mobility is severely impaired. In my opinion Westwood Hall is a well managed facility, clean, warm and welcoming to residents and visitors alike. All the staff, Nurses, Carers, Auxiliary
staff are professional, caring and friendly creating a homely atmosphere whilst ensuring residents have the appropriate level of care for their needs.
Entertainment is well planned and caters for all, the office support is strong and nothing appears to much trouble. Catering is good and the gardens are kept beautifully.
I have had very few concerns in respect to my Mum's welfare but any issues that have been raised have been resolved quickly and to our full satisfaction. Thanks to all the team for their on going care and support.

I wrote a review a while ago after my wife had been in Westwood Hall for nine months, in which I praised the Home for professionalism and caring of the staff, with friendliness for both residents and visitors. After more than two years, my wife still feels well cared for and I agree and cannot add
anything except regret that her being bedridden stops her using the facilities and gardens.

Mum was with Westwood Hall 18 month ago, and we had every confidence she was being cared for. Sadly mum passed away after 6 months, then dad needed more care and he too, went to Westwood Hall. My sister and I, and my dad, again have every confidence in this home. The manager and all the team ate great.
Highly recommend!! Nothing is too much trouble everyone us caring, attentive and listens to dad and ourselves. Great atmosphere and thank every member of staff for taking care of our precious mum and dad.

My Father went into Westwood Hall in April 2025. He has dementia with Alzheimers and it was a worry for us when he first went into nursing care at Westwood Hall. Dad settled into Westwood very easily and is happy there, the staff all know him by name and are very friendly to all residents and visitors.
The food always looks nice and all Dads needs are met at Westwood. Would not hesitate to recommend

Dad is always well looked after here, by cheerful and attentive staff.
He always enjoys his food.
He enjoys his occasional trips out on the minibus, and also the entertainment that takes place.
He also has a ladyfriend who is also a resident, that gives them both a daily interest.

My dad moved to Westwood Hall just over a year ago after a severe stroke left him paralysed, with high care needs. I was very anxious, but from the moment he arrived we felt welcomed and supported. Sadly, Dad was initially very unwell and placed on end-of-life care, but through the exceptional compassion,
skill and dedication of the team he recovered and has since thrived as best he can. Despite being bedbound, he is always clean, comfortable and cared for with patience and kindness. Staff take time to chat, find his favourite TV programmes and encourage him to eat and drink. The whole team - carers, nurses, domestic, kitchen and maintenance - are consistently warm, friendly and respectful, and their kindness extends to me too. Management are approachable, responsive and supportive, always ready to listen and help. I never imagined I'd feel this way, but I actually enjoy visiting my dad here. I feel lucky to have found this home. I can't thank the team enough.

Westwood Hall is a pleasant community of care and kindness and my parents are comfortable and settled there. They are enjoying the food and the regular activities including a couple of trips in the mini bus. The staff at Westwood work hard to ensure that residents join in social time where ever possible.
In spite of my Dads severely reduced mobility every effort is made to help him join other residents in the dining room and the lounge daily. My family are confident that all aspects of my parents care are attended to. We enjoyed the recent summer fair in the homes gardens and really appreciate the determined efforts of the staff to make sure that everyone who was able came out to enjoy the day.

Excellent nursing home, cannot fault it, looks after all aspects of care. The summer fair seemed to be well organised, and it was a pleasure to donate. So pleased the weather held up and the money raised was great, well done to everyone.

My mother has been a resident at Westwood Hall for some time and I have nothing but praise for the staff. The fact that many of them have been there a long time tells me that they are happy in their work and that the place is very well run.
I have been reassured by the care and attention that the
staff have consistently provided over the years. For example, during the Covid epidemic, staff enabled me to talk to my mother via video call on a tablet, which was a great reassurance. When visiting recommenced all the strict procedures were followed.
The home itself is a pleasant building as are the gardens for those who wish to use them. There are weekly activities for everyone and a sunny reception room. I have no hesitation in recommending this home to anybody looking for a care home in the area.

I would like to personally thank the manager and her amazing staff for all the care and help my aunt receives continually every day.
Last August the manager offered the use of the home's lounge so we could surprise my aunt with a Birthday party.
We as a family enjoyed the best afternoon tea, making
a special birthday full of happy memories.
The manager and her team were outstanding and nothing was too much trouble.

My mum was a resident for approximately 10 weeks. In that time her health and well-being deteriorated rapidly. My mum was bedbound and was left in a wet and soiled bed on more than one occasion and was left for up to an hour. My visits were extremely stressful. Several issues were simply overlooked
by the management and two incidents led to safeguarding being put in place. Clothing and underwear went missing and were replaced with other resident's items. The whole experience was an absolute disaster the lack of compassion shown by management was very poor.
Reply from Macie Cox, Marketing Executive at Westwood Hall Nursing HomeHi there, we are sorry that this is the experience you had with us. We looked at this in depth whilst discussing and liaising with safeguarding and CQC. We have been open and honest with all services and the individual concerned was kept at the centre of their care always. I understand any issues have been dealt with by management who have discussed and given you answers to concerns.

We moved my auntie to Westwood Hall last March as it had become impossible to care for her in her own home.
She is completely immobile, but now has lunch in the dining room and is able to join in those activities which interest her.
Her personal care is really good, she is always lovely and clean
and has her hair done most weeks. All the staff are very friendly and we feel this is the best we could do for my auntie.

From the moment Mum was admitted December 2023 until present day. Mum was treated with dignity and respect. The staff are excellent, caring and compassionate in every way. Mum always looks clean and tidy and well cared for at all times. I am impressed with how friendly everyone is, always thinking of
Dad and the family and how we are feeling. If we are worried about anything all staff do their utmost to help and accommodate us the best they can. The management are excellent, it's obvious to see they run the home beautifully and with skill.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.595)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.595) out of 10 for Westwood Hall Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.695 for Westwood Hall Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (169 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.695
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westwood Hall Nursing Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
