  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.682 for Ringway Mews Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (97 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.682

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.2 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ringway Mews Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 30 positive Reviews (150 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 30 Target = 0.200

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My dad has been in Ringway Mews for eight years. The staff are wonderful and treat the residents with care, compassion and respect. It can be very distressing at times but I know my dad is being well cared for. I would not want him to be anywhere else. Many of the staff have worked there for many years which is good for the residents.

Mum has dementia, 93 years of age. I feel secure and happy knowing she is treated and cared for by understanding staff. It gives me a great deal of peace of mind.

I would prefer full-time staff though as when I observe bank staff, some staff are tired and also don't always know the resident.

Our mum has been a resident at Ringway mews for 8 months following a long spell in hospital. The kind, caring and cheerful staff made her feel welcome on her arrival and she settled very quickly. She has a lovely light and airy room which is filled with her own furniture and pictures. She loves the big open plan lounge, dining room and TV area, but the wonderful staff are the real key to her happiness.

On the whole a very pleasant experience, kind staff and very human, not stuffy like some places. More staff are required so they could spend more time with the clients.
There are no activities which is sad. I feel activities would benefit the clients, keep them more alert instead of sleeping!

It's a pleasant place to be in, yet the boredom gets to you.

Clare Sheehan at Ringway Mews Care Home responded to this review on 26 Apr 2018:

Thank you for your review; we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Our Wellbeing Coordinator on Lancaster House has a full activity programme and we also offer activities at the sister homes which Residents can access at any time if they prefer to join in on a variety of group, art and craft, reminiscence, baking and board game activities. It is up to individual resident discretion whether they choose to join in the activities or not.

I live a long way from the home, it is approximately a three hour drive and therefore my visits are often spur of the moment and unannounced. On every visit I have always found everything completely satisfactory.

My mother has lots of needs but in my opinion, the home has cared for her superbly. We as a family are always made to feel welcome and absolutely nothing seems to much trouble for them. I feel at last very much at ease knowing my mother is safe, secure, and well cared for.

Very pleased with my dad's care. Encountered a few teething problems initially but these were swiftly dealt with and resolved. All staff deserve medals for their care and understanding. Recently refurbished too.

My nan has been a resident for around 3 months, previous to this she was in another care home where she deteriorated very quickly! She was in hospital for around 2 months and after being transferred to Ringway she is thriving!! She has her own personal room which is lovely! The staff are amazing and give her attention and dignity! Every time we visit the staff are chatting with her, they are fantastic! My nan is so much happier now she's here! She's in the EMI unit so she requires a lot of care and I honestly can not fault this care home! It's a clean and lovely place, they have a lovely day room for residents and the food always goes down a treat with my nan! Very grateful and happy with the excellent care and support! 5 stars!

My husband has been very well cared for since his admission to Shackleton House in July 2015. He suffers from cardio-vascular Dementia which has worsened rapidly since a chest infection last January. Our family chose Ringway Mews as it offers purpose built ground floor accommodation with a private room where he could retreat and an enclosed garden. In previous Respite stays in other homes, there were problems with his safety using lifts/stairs and going outside for fresh air. He can no longer walk so has to stay more in the communal areas but he praises the staff and the food. Whenever our family has visited we have found him clean, less agitated and the staff are always welcoming and cheerful.
