Ringway Mews Care Home is situated in the peaceful residential community of Sharston in Wythenshawe.

I was pleased the staff got my mum out of bed into the lounge as she had been stuck in a bed for 6 months (hospital and another care home). She is quite complex and does not know she has dementia and cannot walk. She thinks she is in the (Looney Bin) as she hears people shouting out bt she can be vocal
too. On the whole, I am quite satisfied with the home.

My mother-in-law has been in Anson House since July 2018. Initially, it was great but in the last few months, we have noticed her staying in bed more and more. When we ask her why she's in bed she gives different reasons obviously, she has dementia so take everything with a pinch of salt but when you
ask the staff they are just as vacant in their answers. When she is up in the lounge my mother in law is usually sat alone and they may be 3 residents in the lounge. She is expressing how bored she is and uses that as a reason to stay in bed, which as a family, we are concerned about. There seems to be a staff crisis on the unit with only 2 staff on shift and a lot of agency workers who don't know the residents. A lot of the time when I visit there are no staff to be seen in the lounge area and residents are left alone.

Thank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve the service we offer. Despite staff always encouraging them to join in with our wellbeing activities, many residents living with dementia spend time in their rooms through their own personal choice and preference. We do have bespoke activity planners on all 5 communities so if an individual does not want to join in the group/individual activity on one particular community all residents can be assisted to visit other communities to join in their activities. There are occasions when we do require the use of agency staff, however, we endeavour to keep this to a minimum. We have a robust recruitment program in place, which helps us maintain safe staffing levels across the home.

My auntie has only been here for 3 days and we are very pleased we picked Ringway Mews Anson House.
The staff are lovely ad helpful and go out of their way to help us and my auntie.

Mum died in September 2018 after being in Anson House from June 2015. I visited her nearly every day during this time. The staff were mostly friendly caring and kind, however, Mum was bedridden after a stroke being paralysed down one side and had aphasia and dyspraxia and was unable to partake in any
of the activities on offer. She could only eat soft food and there was not much variety in this (mainly mince) and Mum did not find it at all appetising. Due to the limited number of staff, some residents with Alzheimer's disease and irregular behaviour were able to wander about without supervision and regularly wandered into Mum's room alone which made me concerned for her safety. The facility is probably OK for mobile residents however I wouldn't recommend it for bedridden residents like Mum as they are particularly vulnerable and need a greater staff to resident ratio than is provided and I think should be housed together for their own protection.

Prior to all admissions, we undertake a thorough assessment of all potential residents’ individual care needs to enable us to make an informed decision of whether we can meet the person’s care needs. Many residents living with dementia spend time in their rooms through either choice or frailty. We also abide by the principle of ‘a room as your home’ asking families to help us personalise residents’ bedrooms by bringing in possessions and mementoes that will encourage their loved ones to feel safe and secure, which gives them a sense of reassurance that they belong. Residents living with dementia can be disoriented, so they walk, search and inadvertently walk into rooms. With diminished awareness and reasoning this can result in them entering other residents rooms and can cause distress when they disturb a resident’s privacy. We are very sorry for any upset this brought about; our resident's safety is of paramount importance to us.
We have a variety of meals available, there are always two choices and alternatives can be offered. We continually look to improving the presentation of texture modified diet and seek feedback daily from residents. My wife has been a resident for over 2 years and I attend every day except when personal illness or appointments create a problem.


We have both been treated with extreme courtesy and respect by all management and staff.


The nursing staff respond quickly with all requests for assistance as do all

carers and housing staff.


Unfortunately, my wife is completely bedbound and cannot enjoy the many entertainments available.

During the last twelve months, the Halifax Ward part of Ringway Mews has improved 100%. The staff have been revamped under new management so the general care and comfort of the residents has been immense. The medical staff are very observant and quick to respond to any problems which is vital in this
ward. I am very happy to visit this unit and am made to feel very welcome by all the staff.

As a self-funder the fees are expensive, however, the activities person was/is very good. My partner is looked after very well. The manager of Shackleton House is great!

I cannot fault any of the staff they are supportive, positive, kind and humorous, which is key. A difficult resident like my husband who has no cognitive awareness is very well catered for and I appreciate their distraction and their sustained kindness to him. He is well looked after, clean and is happy.

There are 5 different sections for care at Ringway Mews, one is EMI nursing, Halifax House. The care home manager described it to me as a no-frills service.
My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and thus needed EMI nursing care. He was accepted for a place following an assessment from the house
manager.
My first impressions of the home were as described - a basic service - but mostly clean enough and mostly caring (lots of agency carers)
The vast majority of the residents there were immobile and sat in chairs in the lounge all day. My father was comparatively very mobile and able to walk around, including the large fenced off garden.
After an initial period, the house manager decided he wasn't "what she expected" and "wouldn't have accepted him". Following this, my father's care noticeably changed and he appeared to be treated differently. eg being denied breakfast at 5 am, having to wait till 9. As a result, he was transferred out by them, to the hospital and is now placed elsewhere.

My father was in Wellington House from May 2018 until his death in early January 2019. On behalf of my mother and brothers we would like to thank the care staff for their kindness and support. The 3 nurses who were on alternate shifts were always helpful in giving us an update on Dad's condition and
did this with care and compassion. The care staff were so nice with our dad and treated him with dignity and respect. They worked really hard and were always cheerful creating a very positive atmosphere. One of the family visited Dad 4 days a week and we had no complaints about the care he received. Thank you to all the staff.

My Nana has not been here for very long. I would like to say Ringway Mews is such a lovely place and the grounds are very well maintained. My Nana is in Wellington house and I can't thank them all enough for the care they give. Not just to my Nana but to all the staff, they are all very hard working
and the caring manner they all have is superb. While visiting my Nana, I watch and see how hard they all work and nothing is too much. They are all very polite and friendly and they are so attentive. We never wanted my Nana to go into a care home but unfortunately, due to ill health and my Nana needing 24hour care now, the only answer was to go into a care home. Coming here has broken my heart, but it's the best for my Nana and I cannot get to see my Nana every day because of ill health myself. I can honestly and truthfully say that my mind is at ease because I know she is getting the best care ever. Thank you to all for everything you do, it is above and beyond. Thank you.

I've found since my husband has moved to Ringway Mews he has improved is awake in the day, when I visit him he seems very interested in what is going on around him and engages in the many activities that they provide, he also responds very well to the staff who are all extremely pleasant and caring
and nothing is to much trouble for them when making a request. All the family are very pleased that Ringway Mews could take my husband.

Mum has dementia, 93 years of age. I feel secure and happy knowing she is treated and cared for by understanding staff. It gives me a great deal of peace of mind.


I would prefer full-time staff though as when I observe bank staff, some staff are tired and also don't always know the resident.

My dad has been in Ringway Mews for eight years. The staff are wonderful and treat the residents with care, compassion and respect. It can be very distressing at times but I know my dad is being well cared for. I would not want him to be anywhere else. Many of the staff have worked there for many years
which is good for the residents.

I have a lovely daughter who has a fierce love for life.
I enjoy travelling the world with my nearest and dearest.


Heather joined Ringway Mews as Home Manager because she shares Springcare’s vision of aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home
