As a relative of a resident on Lancaster House, I would just like to thank the new nursing assistant for constantly keeping me up to date and informed of any changes with my relative, from a positive side, from weight gain to getting up to go to the lounge. I also appreciate her accessibility with video
calling as I am aware some people are reluctant. My relative has gained 9lbs in just under 2 months, drinking a lot better since using something called a hydro bottle, something I personally had not heard about before. I have received pictures of my relative and also videos which I will treasure I would like her to know her work does not go unnoticed. Due to currently being required somewhere else, window visits will have to do for now. But thank you so much! Ringway Mews should be proud of you and your work.

My mother has been well looked after and enjoyed her stay. She smiles when she sees the staff, that tells me she is very happy. The downside is the food!
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Ringway Mews Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We are delighted your Mother enjoyed her stay with us. We know our staff team are a credit to our home so it is wonderful to receive such a positive comment. We are so sorry the food was not satisfactory however, we would really appreciate personal contact with the home so that we can review the issues in order to make any improvements.

My mother has had superb care before and during Covid. I can not fault the commitment and service all the staff provide. We could visit after work which made it so much easier to see mum before lockdown. I have every faith that mum is safe and secure in these difficult times.

All the staff on my mum's unit are amazing at every level. They are all extremely caring and really do care for the residents like family. If it wasn't for their dedication during these horrendous covid times, we would all be out of our minds with worry. We can't thank them enough.

I have recently come in to contact with Ringway Mews, Lancaster House. I was helped by a staff member. There was one thing that caught me about this young lady, her helpfulness, her ability to put my mind at rest. There was one thing that stood out to me 'if there is anything you would like to ask me,
please do, if I can help or answer I will do my best, nothing you ask me will ever be silly, if it’s on your mind’, this was refreshing and put my mind at ease. So thank you, Ringway Mews. I would recommend you massively. Keep going you are doing us all proud.

My brother-in-law was a resident in Shackleton house for a few months and the staff were very helpful going above and beyond keeping me up to date with his health situation and completely putting my mind at ease when I phoned to check on him. I felt that he was being well looked after. On one of my
calls, the week before he was admitted to the hospital one of the staff took the telephone to him so that I could speak to him which was really appreciated.

Mum was admitted to Ringway Mews Care Home a week after lockdown as an emergency as she had developed severe paranoia. Social services were brilliant and I cannot thank them enough. The staff have been really helpful in making sure I was able to keep some form of contact, by setting up video call sessions
with Mum. I have seen her through the glass a couple of times. She looks very well and praises the staff. She loves her baths. It is very hard not to see Mum, especially regarding the circumstances in which she was admitted, as she saw my brother and myself every day, but I am confident she is being well looked after and is safe. Thank you all the staff and management. I cannot comment on some issues as I have not actually been inside the home

My mum is a resident in the specialist dementia unit, after what has been a very difficult couple of months of not being able to see Mum, I would just like to acknowledge how the nursing staff have gone above and beyond to reassure me and even video called me just so I could take comfort in seeing Mum.
For this I am truly grateful, a special thanks goes to the nurse.

I was pleased the staff got my mum out of bed into the lounge as she had been stuck in a bed for 6 months (hospital and another care home). She is quite complex and does not know she has dementia and cannot walk. She thinks she is in the (Looney Bin) as she hears people shouting out bt she can be vocal
too. On the whole, I am quite satisfied with the home.

My mother-in-law has been in Anson House since July 2018. Initially, it was great but in the last few months, we have noticed her staying in bed more and more. When we ask her why she's in bed she gives different reasons obviously, she has dementia so take everything with a pinch of salt but when you
ask the staff they are just as vacant in their answers. When she is up in the lounge my mother in law is usually sat alone and they may be 3 residents in the lounge. She is expressing how bored she is and uses that as a reason to stay in bed, which as a family, we are concerned about. There seems to be a staff crisis on the unit with only 2 staff on shift and a lot of agency workers who don't know the residents. A lot of the time when I visit there are no staff to be seen in the lounge area and residents are left alone.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Ringway Mews Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve the service we offer. Despite staff always encouraging them to join in with our wellbeing activities, many residents living with dementia spend time in their rooms through their own personal choice and preference. We do have bespoke activity planners on all 5 communities so if an individual does not want to join in the group/individual activity on one particular community all residents can be assisted to visit other communities to join in their activities. There are occasions when we do require the use of agency staff, however, we endeavour to keep this to a minimum. We have a robust recruitment program in place, which helps us maintain safe staffing levels across the home.

Mum died in September 2018 after being in Anson House from June 2015. I visited her nearly every day during this time. The staff were mostly friendly caring and kind, however, Mum was bedridden after a stroke being paralysed down one side and had aphasia and dyspraxia and was unable to partake in any
of the activities on offer. She could only eat soft food and there was not much variety in this (mainly mince) and Mum did not find it at all appetising. Due to the limited number of staff, some residents with Alzheimer's disease and irregular behaviour were able to wander about without supervision and regularly wandered into Mum's room alone which made me concerned for her safety. The facility is probably OK for mobile residents however I wouldn't recommend it for bedridden residents like Mum as they are particularly vulnerable and need a greater staff to resident ratio than is provided and I think should be housed together for their own protection.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Ringway Mews Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. At Ringway Mews, we aim to provide the highest standards of care. Prior to all admissions, we undertake a thorough assessment of all potential residents’ individual care needs to enable us to make an informed decision of whether we can meet the person’s care needs. Many residents living with dementia spend time in their rooms through either choice or frailty. We also abide by the principle of ‘a room as your home’ asking families to help us personalise residents’ bedrooms by bringing in possessions and mementoes that will encourage their loved ones to feel safe and secure, which gives them a sense of reassurance that they belong. Residents living with dementia can be disoriented, so they walk, search and inadvertently walk into rooms. With diminished awareness and reasoning this can result in them entering other residents rooms and can cause distress when they disturb a resident’s privacy. We are very sorry for any upset this brought about; our resident's safety is of paramount importance to us.
We have a variety of meals available, there are always two choices and alternatives can be offered. We continually look to improving the presentation of texture modified diet and seek feedback daily from residents. Should you wish to discuss any of these issues further please do not hesitate to contact us at HC-One.co.uk

My wife has been a resident for over 2 years and I attend every day except when personal illness or appointments create a problem.

We have both been treated with extreme courtesy and respect by all management and staff.

The nursing staff respond quickly with all requests for assistance as do all

carers and housing staff.

Unfortunately, my wife is completely bedbound and cannot enjoy the many entertainments available.

During the last twelve months, the Halifax Ward part of Ringway Mews has improved 100%. The staff have been revamped under new management so the general care and comfort of the residents has been immense. The medical staff are very observant and quick to respond to any problems which is vital in this
ward. I am very happy to visit this unit and am made to feel very welcome by all the staff.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.591)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.591) out of 10 for Ringway Mews Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.983 for Ringway Mews Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (150 Excellents x 5) + (61 Goods x 4) + (34 Satisfactorys x 3) + (17 Poors x 2) + (29 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 291 Ratings = 3.983
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.608 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ringway Mews Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 150 registered maximum number of service users is 30. 19 Positive Reviews ÷ 30 = 0.633
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
