We couldn't have wished for a better place for my wife to spend her last few weeks of her life. The staff had so much love and care for my wife.

The staff gave me and my family all the support from the day my wife came to Sycamore's.

In my opinion I think the staff and care are more than brilliant with the way they are taking care of my mum, they're absolutely excellent, I've noticed such a big change in my mum's care from the last care home. I can't fault any of the staff. I'm so pleased as at a few times we had a fear of our mum
giving up, now since we have got mum in The Sycamore we have really got grins, smiles and kisses off our mum, it's making us feel better, noting mum's care is to the best ever, knowing mum seems to be more content now and that's absolutely brilliant. Thank you deeply to all the staff at The Sycamore I hope I get this care, and staff bless them all, brilliant work.

Under difficult circumstances we had to place my father-in-law in a care home, immediately we were made to feel we had chosen the right home, he was made welcome and comfortable. The staff were checking he was all right constantly and provided excellent care, this included every staff member, he retained
his dignity and independence, the room was comfortable and well decorated.
When he needed extra medical care this was arranged without hesitation, the staff were compassionate when we lost him and helped and took some of the pressure off us.

Throughout my father's stay he was treated with the greatest of respect. The team go beyond what I thought would have been the standard. The care and compassion was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble.

On visiting a friend and neighbour. I was greeted very warmly and shown to my friends room at once. Even though my friend was sleeping I was offered tea and biscuits, as she woke the carer made her comfortable and offered her tea etc. I thought the Sycamores was a very hospitable and caring home, clean,
warm and active.

Current Review Score: 7.7 (7.699)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.7 (7.699) out of 10 for The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.435 for The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (14 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.435
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.264 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.139
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2024

I joined Springcare in June 2024 as the Manager for Sycamore and Poplars Care Home. With over 18 years of experience in the NHS and social care industry, my passion for caregiving has been the driving force throughout my career. My journey began at Thames Valley University London where I trained to be an RGN. I have held various roles including RGN, Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager, and Home Manager, each contributing to my deep commitment to providing exceptional care.

Living with my grandmother during her last five years and participating in her care profoundly enriched my dedication to the field. Making a positive difference has always been my motto and motivation. I embrace the challenges in my career as they inspire me to grow and improve continually. Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my family and enjoy cooking. I participate in marathons to raise funds for worthy causes, combining my love for fitness with philanthropy. To unwind, I delight in reading a good old-fashioned hardcover book.
