Ideally located on the edge of Oldham and recently benefitting from a refurbishment programme, Avalon Park offers personalised residential and residential dementia care in a home from home environment.

Residents benefit from a range of comfortable areas where they can socialise and relax, including a number of dining spaces that provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends. The delightful tea room is also a firm favourite with residents and their loved ones.

The team across the home, from Care Assistants to Wellbeing Coordinators and Chefs, is dedicated to promoting and enhancing resident wellbeing. Dad has been in Avalon Park Care Home for his first month, when his dementia meant that he could no longer live in his own home with visiting carers, he needs 24/7 care. It was really hard to visit homes to be able to make a choice for where to place him, I’m sure everyone feels like this. I chose
Avalon Park Care Home for several reasons, it being a small home, the happy atmosphere, friendliness of the staff (both with residents and with each other), staff always in attendance and always someone I can ask for help or information. More too, and all has been positive. The staff are obviously very experienced in working with people with dementia, it is a horrible, difficult disease, but they get to know each resident individually, so they know when someone may be unwell or having difficulties, and they take appropriate action. I’m so pleased to see that all residents are treated with care and respect and their individual needs and choices are supported as best as they can. Highly recommended!

My grandma has been a resident here for just over a year now and I cannot say enough great things about this care home. My grandma is Italian and has dementia and the carers are just amazing with her. When she first came she was so unsettled and confused and we questioned whether we had done the right
thing. Now looking at how she has been cared for and how she has settled we definitely did make the right decision. My grandma was always independent and active and the care home has allowed her to help with daily tasks that she would have missed doing at home. Not to mention the dancing and singing my grandma loves to do. We are always able to contact the home and ask for updates, and I cannot praise the staff enough for their help and support through what has been such a difficult time. They have handled Covid very well, and although the shutdowns have been hard for us not being able to see my Grandma, they have maintained the safety of their residents successfully.

This place was amazing, the staff were brilliant in dealing with and looking after my Mum. They were very professional and caring with her. One member of staff, in particular, was so kind in arranging visits for visiting my Mum. We cannot thank you guys enough. 5-star service thank you.

Whilst visiting my sister recently I commented about a member of staff who always seemed to be smiling whenever I saw her. My sister told me that this was the entertainments manager and said: "...she is always happy and she makes us all happy". This was lovely to hear. It is a great gift to be able
to bring joy to others. Well done to her and all the staff at Avalon Park who take such good care of my sister.

This care home is excellent and awesome. The staff are awesome and first class. The activities staff are awesome too. The food could be improved by having baked spuds at night with different fillings, rice crispies in the morning.

I would like to praise the staff at Avalon Park for the exceptional care they are providing for my grandad. Unfortunately, we, as a family, had to make the difficult decision to seek care support for the most precious person in the family. This was extremely hard and caused lots of tears and guilt.
The manager was absolutely outstanding! Her dedication to the residents is unquestionable, and time spent with us as a family was never to much trouble. She answered all questions and ensured his personal preferences were catered for. The staff are also fantastic; I ring often for an update on Grandad and I am always greeted with a friendly voice; they always put Grandad on the phone, which he relishes.

My Mum moved to Avalon Park in January so it is very early days but I can see in the short period of time that she has been in that she has been treated with kindness, dignity and respect. The management and staff have been a pleasure to deal with and nothing is too much trouble for them. I can also
see that the staff do show care and compassion towards the residents. They also have a visiting booth so at least we can go and visit at a pre-booked time. Well done Avalon Park.

Grandad moved into Avalon Park at the start of lockdown (March 20). We have been unable to see the home or meet other residents or staff face to face. However, staff have been happy to do what they can to ensure my grandad feels settled with his home comforts around him. We ring each day to see how
he is and we are always given a full update including when Grandad's having a wobbly day. We are able to have Whatsapp calls and window visits with him which means a lot in these very difficult times.

Looking after mum very well.
Not good with the covid lockdown but these are unprecedented times.
My mothers overall care has been very good; we have had the occasional mishap but heyho. She has been well cared for and that all you hope and ask for.

Overall the care my father received in here was good and he's come on well, he is more confident now on mobility.
He has taken up residence today at another home nearer his home, alas, he had clothes not his for the journey, hadn't had a shave and food down his face.
Upon arrival, we then discovered
he had no trousers with him only the ones he was wearing (which weren't his anyway) also his dressing gown missing too. During a phone call to report this, I was quoted "he only had one pair anyway" and the phone slammed down.
As a mystery shopper for retail etc., I advise, it might be a good idea, to note, that people are more likely to discuss a bad experience than a good one!

My mum has stayed at Avalon Park for 6 weeks. Brilliant staff, nothing too much trouble for them, always approachable. Lovely rooms, food excellent. The manager is also fantastic and friendly. My mum is a service user here at Avalon. She had a wonderful day on Christmas day. Her son has learning difficulties and we visit most days and all the staff are wonderful to him, my mum and myself and I can't thank and praise them enough.
The resident's son had Xmas lunch with our mum and the other
service users and the atmosphere and food was a credit to all the staff.

My mother-in-law has been in the home a few months now and been treated with respect and cared for. The seniors have been outstanding with her and looked after. The carers even when they are busy have always been there to help her and always take time to speak to her when we visit. Excellent, nothing
is too much trouble for them all. Would also like to say that the manager is a very lovely person and they couldn't get a better manager anywhere.

Really happy with Avalon Park. I viewed a lot of care home and this is by far the best. All the staff are friendly, the place is very clean and there's plenty of activities for the residents.
