No nasty smells.
My mother was a resident at Newlands for two years, during that time my mother received excellent care at Newlands, I was most impressed by how the staff took the time to get to know my mother. I personally was most impressed by how hard working the staff are and how they looked after my mother. When my mother passed away many of the staff from Newlands attended her funeral and I expressed my sincere thanks to the staff and introduced the staff as my mother’s second family. It is never an easy decision to place one's loved one in a care home but I’m sure that the decision to place my mother in Newlands was the correct decision and that she received the best possible care in the last years of her life. I will always remember the care and compassion given to me by not only all staff at Newlands but especially the one staff member who stayed with my mother when she died and remained at work long after her shift had finished meeting me at the door and comforting me in my time of loss.
The staff were very helpful and caring and did as much as they could within the very limited range of what was possible in my wife's case (not all of the ratings below are relevant to my wife's situation and I have left blank those which do not apply).
Everything is well organised with a happy atmosphere.
The Care our relative has received is nothing more than disgraceful. He had 4 falls which we were supposed to be advised about and we weren't. We arrived one night to see him shirtless and sat on his own. The home is in a disgusting state and I have images to share.
We are very sorry to hear of your concerns about the service you and your relative received within the home. The home is currently going through a period of refurbishment and therefore there are many areas of the home that are affected by the building work. In relation to the areas of concern...
My mother has become very settled and happy at Newlands Nursing Care Home. My mother has been a resident at Newlands Nursing Care Home for three years. The staff are friendly and helpful. They work hard to get to know residents and treat them with respect. Residents are seen as individuals and care is provided in a dignified way. Although the home provides residential and nursing care, the emphasis is on a homely environment and atmosphere. Any concerns we have had have been dealt with by discussion with the management team and resolved quickly. The newly refurbished communal areas are lovely.
So far I have only positive things to say about Newlands Nursing Care Home, my grandma's care home. The friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff are always on hand to help and treat her with care and respect. Her room is cleaned regularly and bathroom. She seems to be happy and well cared for and the food is nice and home cooked. She hasn't been there long and is on the high dependency floor so is just in her own room and interact with other residents at the minute.
I was horrified to read the late CQC report and think there is a little too quoted on paperwork.
We had a very short but amazing experience of Newlands in Heaton Moor. My father was terminal and we knew the end was near. We transferred him from another home so he could be close for my mother and my family to spend as much time as possible with him. It was hard work arranging the transfer and it was only possible due to the immense effort and assistance from one of the main nurses who looked after him .
I have a lot of experience with care homes through my role as a clinical negligence lawyer and I am always looking for the faults. I can honestly say this home and the people who looked after my father were exceptional! My mother spent every day there and I and my family popped in regularly at various times night and day. It was always the same calm and dignified and always clean and fresh. My father had the most cruel of diseases, dementia, and yet the staff without exception were truly amazing . Thank you!
Excellent service.
You really have professional but caring staff at Newlands and I hope you appreciate them as much as I do.
My partner is permanent in Newlands for the rest of his life. He needs constant nursing care 24/7, he can't do anything at all for himself, he isn't living, he is existing. His life is watching television and sleeping. He can't get out of bed because of various strokes and other health issues. All the staff look after him 100% and all like him. Therefore it makes life more bearable. I am very pleased. The staff are brilliant.
My sister is a resident and receives really good care. I am most grateful to all staff.
This home is very clean and tidy. Staff are very helpful. When I have asked for assistance. It was nice to see them having staff training (moving and handling).
