The overall care for mum is really good. They try to engage her in all activities. She is encouraged to try different foods and always cater for her needs. On the whole she is much more settled in Alexandra Grange and we as a family are more reassured.

From our initial meeting and viewing the home all the staff, from the manager to the cleaners, are all very professional and friendly. From what I've seen and my dad tells me its that everyone is helpful and respects his dignity and privacy. His room is pleasant and the lounge areas are good social areas. The home may need some TLC in places but this doesn't affect the care received.

After 6.5 years at Alexandra Grange following a severe stroke my mum passed away in her room with my sister and myself with her. She had returned from hospital 2 days previously for end-of-life care. There are no words to express our massive gratitude for the staff at this care home. they care. They know their residents. They are there front and centre. The carers domestic and laundry staff are simply the best in their field. They know every single resident and all of their individual needs. The atmosphere is one of calm with music and the radio playing. There is laughter too. They work hard and if there is anything that we have needed to address it is sorted. On 7th January they said goodbye to mum. The two night carers at the end were compassionate professional and simply wonderful. Thank you to the most amazing people. Thank you for giving mum the love and respect and forming great bonds with her You have our hearts.

When visiting my friend, I was always treated with respect and honesty. The home staff were always on hand to help my friend carry out his daily life. It can't have been easy for them, as my friend is severely disabled and can't get about. 10 out of 10 for the staff and the home.

My mother has been at the home for a relatively short time. Prior to this, it has been extremely difficult for me to accept I was no longer able to provide her with the care she needed. However, I can honestly say that placing her in full-time care, any concerns I may have had, have been blown out of the water. My mother has settled in really well at Alexandra Grange, and I can find no fault with either the staff or establishment. The staff are very warm, welcoming and amenable towards myself, and more importantly, my mother. When visiting my mother, I find it a very relaxed atmosphere whilst always maintaining the high standard of professionalism required/expected of them. I would strongly recommend Alexandra Grange to provide care for a loved one!

My wife has the best carers I could have ever wished for her. The carers were kind and very person-centred; they also made sure that they looked after me when I visited. My wife loved the carers, and they showed that they cared for her. Sadly, my wife was on end of life care, and I could not have wished for better care. They sat with her giving reassurance and kind words, and she was never left on her own. They kept me up to date with all updates, and nothing was too much trouble. I thank them from the bottom of my heart, and so do her sons. The staff, manager and administrator are wonderful.

I was worried about my wife going into a home, but I didn't need to have. She is well looked after, and I cannot praise the staff enough. The care team are wonderful, and I and my family, know that she is very safe, cared for in a dignified manner, and we, as a family, appreciate all that they do for her. Nothing is too much trouble. The manager, admin and carer team are very helpful and put our minds at ease as it has been difficult for us to make that decision for my wife to go in a home. I praise than every day and cannot find any fault. I again say it is a lovely, homely home.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all staff at Alexandra Grange. My mum has been there 6-years, and they have been brilliant with her, especially these last few weeks while she has been poorly. The staff care compassionate, caring, kind and always give the extra time dor all the residents through this difficult time of Covid. My mother is very happy, well cared for and I am kept informed about her care. The manager, senior staff and admin are excellent, always willing to help. I have peace of mind every day that my mum is safe, comfortable and well looked after.

No care home will ever be right for your loved one as you would never have imagined that you would ever have to put your loved one in to care, however, my mum has been resident in Alexandra Grange for 4 years. In that time she has been sent back to Alexandra Grange from hospital with end of life care and thankfully she is still here today to tell the tale! This is down to the love of a good family but also all the staff at Alexandra Grange. The manager is caring and compassionate and takes time to speak to all her residents and their families. The activities lady is amazing, arranging monthly outings, daily activities entertaining everyone, her talents are endless! The residents would be lost without her! All the carers and domestic staff know my mum and take time to speak with her. They treat her with dignity and respect and that’s all you wish for your loved one. During the time of COVID, all the staff have worked endlessly to provide excellent care to protect all their residents and keep them safe.

My mum has gone to Alexandra Grange for many years for respite care but recently moved there permanently. The staff are kind, caring and always pleasant. The manager and office staff are lovely. My mum says the food is very good and she has put weight on. During Covid they have kept all the residents happy, letting us visit and talk through the window or sending me cards and letters. I am happy that my mum is somewhere where she is content.

I would like to put on the record my thanks to the staff of Alexandra Grange Care Home in Wigan, especially one of the care workers for her tremendous service, help, and being such a genuine lovely caring person.
My uncle has been a resident there for just over a year and has recently had his 100th birthday doing lockdown. During his time in the home, he has received excellent care from the staff who are also friendly and helpful to residents and their families. The carers are always prepared to go the extra mile for the needs wishes of the residents and their families also helpful with any request we have made.
On my uncle's 100th birthday doing lockdown, we were unable to go ahead with the special plans for the day. However, the staff decorated his bedroom, made him a cake, sang to him, and dressed him up to meet the press, opened his 700+ Cards including one from the Queen!

During the lockdown, I have been able to visit my uncle through the window from the help of the staff who have been so helpful too.

I live at Alexandra Grange and I love it. The staff are fantastic and look after me like family. It has been hard recently with Covid, but they have looked after me so well, and the staff have been kind and arranged things for us like a man coming to sing to us, and we watched through the window; it was great. They make us happy.

My mum was a resident at Alexandra Grange where she lived; until she sadly passed away. She was always laughing and happy. The staff were a great team; nothing was ever too much for them. The home was lovely and clean, and there were always activities to do. I cannot thank the staff enough; thank you again.

Ok, I will start here. The manager and her team of girls have worked a miracle with my mum who went in in February of this year. She is 92 years of age and not once has anything ever been too much trouble for them, they helped her get back to who she once was, to the point she is now coming back home for her 93 birthday. This place must be the best care home in the North West and I won't hesitate to ask for their help in the future. Thanks for everything and for giving my mum a chance.

Management very understanding and accommodating, making it possible for my mum and auntie to be in rooms next to each other (as they lived at home). Staff very, very engaging with both, making them laugh and treating them with respect. Every effort is made to stimulate them without being patronising. The staff have a very busy schedule and this is obvious, but they always find time to accommodate any requests. I feel comforted in this time of change within our family that both are safe, warm, well fed and cared for.

My husband has just come home after respite in Alexandra Grange. This was the second time he has been here for respite. When visiting him I can honestly say it’s been a long time since I have seen him so content. The staff are lovely and the manageress of the home is so thoughtful and caring. I wouldn’t want him to go anywhere else. The home is so clean and the room he was in was also clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend Alexandra Grange 100%

I have always found the environment in the care home to be very friendly and efficient with a high standard of cleanliness. The staff work very hard to provide dignity and high-quality care to the residents with activities and entertainment on offer at regular intervals.

My nan has been in Alexandra Grange for a few years now and I have never had any complaints. Just recently my nan has become quite poorly and I am very grateful to the carers at Alexandra Grange (ground floor) as they have been amazing with nan and my family. Liaising with GP's to get relevant meds and x-rays in place and the communication and support shown is much appreciated. Keep up the amazing work. Thank you.
