Overall Experience

Recent changes in the management have shown an improvement, especially in communication. The staff are caring and friendly and treat all the residents with respect. The building (a converted school) is calm and maintained well but is showing it's age. Overall, the organisation cares for the residents.

Review from S D (Son of Resident) published on 20 April 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I have found this care home to be most suitable for my mother. The staff are courteous although some of the seniors neglect to call me if my mother has an issue, other are more diligent. My main concern is safety and security the lift is regularly out of order not acceptable in case of fire and the idea of "sliding" residents downstairs on a cushion is ludicrous. The entrance to doors are a hazard as the outer door does not lock and the inner doors don't lock if they're closed the wrong way Insecure!

Reply from Abin Francis, Registered Manager at St George's Nursing Home (Wigan)

Thank you for the review, we are aiming to improve our service all the time. With me as a new manager, all staff are getting training relating to contacting family and we will make sure this happens in future. The issue relating to the lift is been resolved now. But in the case of an emergency...
