Visiting

  • People move into Haighfield as their permanent home and it is promoted as such to residents and their family & friends. Accordingly, visits welcome at anytime although the home does however request that visits at meal times and late evening are avoided wherever possible.

Parking

  • The main car park was extended in 2015 and is at the rear of the home. In the very unlikely case that all spaces have been taken alternative parking is difficult but local businesses have been amenable to people utilising their parking facilities when asked.

From the first ten minutes on entering we were greeted with polite, personable and professional staff. Helpful and caring above and beyond the call of duty and constantly ongoing on a daily and evening basis. The rooms were pleasant and warm. The staff, from top to bottom always checking on our needs.

My mother has been a resident at The Haighfield for many years. The home is well maintained, very clean and provides good food. Mum has dementia and can be demanding. I am very pleased with the standard of care Mum receives. After visiting Mum I come away from the home feeling she is well looked after. The management and all the staff are friendly, caring and supportive and they always have time for you.

From the day my mum moved to Haighfield Nursing Home, we have found the staff and management to be very caring and cheerful in what can be a very difficult job. Mum has found the meals to be very good and she has the opportunity to sit in very pleasant lounges. We find that the overall atmosphere is very welcoming and would certainly recommend Haighfield Nursing Home.

We are very happy with the care Mother is receiving. The staff have been very friendly and helpful, willing to talk to us and sort out any problems which are usually very minor and easily dealt with.

We can visit at any time, no restrictions. Easy to park.

My Dad only came into the home on the 5th November. He was extremely distressed and needed better care than he had been given. Since coming to Highfield, after a couple of days, he is a changed man. I cannot thank the nurses and carers enough. They treat my Dad like part of a family.

This home lives up to the name as it is more like home than "a home". All the staff appear to me as very hard working but more importantly very caring and friendly. All the residents are extremely fortunate to be in Haighfield with its high level of standards and competence of its staff.

My mum is treated with kindness and respect by the Haighfield staff and it is a relief and reassuring to know that she is being cared for well when we can't be there. The nursing staff know the importance of medications being given on time, every time. Rooms are clean, they vary in size and some have lovely views of the hills and countryside. There are optional activities in place every week, which is really important as some homes don't seem to offer much in this respect, and a typical week may include across the week bingo, dominoes, arts and crafts, pamper sessions such as manicures, music and songs. A hairdresser visits once a week. They regularly have local singers, groups, or special interest activities (birds of prey with their handler, for example). There is always a choice at mealtimes and assistance provided if needed. The carers are very friendly and it is clear that this is more than just a job for them.
