My mum has been in the care home for 11 months and suffers from severe dementia. I have always been thoroughly happy with the care she has received. She is always well cared for, clean and well-fed. The staff all talk to her regularly and more importantly quietly even when she doesn't understand. No
one expects more of her than she is capable of providing and understand her many fears. Well done to all the staff.

My Dad was a resident in Victoria Care Home for about 3 weeks but in that short space of time, the staff ensured they knew my Dad's likes and dislikes and their care for him was exceptional. All the staff were respectful, caring and empathetic at all times, this also extended to us, his family. In my
Dad's last few days, the staff ensured he was comfortable, clean and pain-free at all times.
My Mum was so impressed with the care my Dad received she said if she ever needs to go into a care home, this is the only one she would go in.
I would like to thank all the staff for the care they afforded my Dad but there are 3 particular members of staff I would like to say a special thank you to.
I have recommended Victoria Care Home, without reservation, to someone I was speaking to today as she is looking for somewhere caring and comfortable for a family member.
Reply from Olivia Shields, Marketing Assistant at Victoria Care HomeThank you, Janette, for your feedback and for taking the time to share your experience at Victoria Care Home. We are so sorry to hear about your Dad but pleased you felt he received great care and hope that his time at Victoria did see some friendships flourish, especially with the care team. Victoria Care Home is the nicest care home I have visited. Very caring staff, extremely kind to my friend's mum who is a resident and everything is put in place to make sure she settles well and feels like she's at home. It's a pleasure to visit, there are no 'bad smells' and we are free to wander back
to my friend's room whenever we like. Well done Victoria Care Home! Highly recommended!

My dad has been in a few care homes that I have not been satisfied with. Victoria Care Home, on the other hand, is amazing. They have always shown the highest level of care, attention and compassion to my dad. He is happy and settled and I know no matter what day or time I visit and I visit a lot he
is always shaved, showered and well dressed. Lots of activities keep him engaged and content.
Reply from Ronnie Cavanagh, Marketing at Victoria Care HomeThank you, Jane, for your positive feedback towards Victoria Care Home. One of our top priorities is to provide comfort into the home so all residents feel welcomed. We are so pleased to hear how well your dad has settled in. My mother has been cared for at this care home for the past two years. She has been treated with the utmost care and respect. I cannot thank the lovely, caring staff there enough, they are brilliant.
My mother was aged 100, the staff gave her a fantastic 100th birthday party last February. Sadly she
recently deteriorated and was ill for a few weeks. The staff cared for her absolutely fantastically making sure she was as comfortable as she possibly could be, and ensuring there was no need for her to leave her home and be taken to hospital. They really went the extra mile to keep her reassured and peaceful.
This is a fantastic care home.
Reply from Ronnie Cavanagh, Marketing at Victoria Care HomeThank you Jean for your kind comments about our care team. We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback for Victoria Care Home. We understand how upsetting it must have been, and are so pleased you felt that our team lived up to expectation and treated your mother with dignity and the compassion she deserved during her time at our home. We hope that her time at Victoria did see some friendships flourish with both the care team and residents. Thank you again Jean, if there is anything more we can do please do not hesitate to reach out.

After visiting most days for the last 18 months, I have seen the wonderful work all the staff do for the residents and their families. The staff go above and beyond to make lives happier with lots of multiple activities. Music, Bingo, light sensors, visiting performers, ladies days (Aintree), St Patrick's
day etc., etc. After seeing a home on TV saying about it being outstanding I can only say Victoria Care Home falls into this same category. To all staff, I thank you.

Respite stay as my daughter was getting married in Billinge and the reception was in Billinge. Consequently, I can only comment on the breakfasts which were very good. The care was very good also and they were ready with a manual wheelchair late at night when I needed to be transferred from a landrover,
carried by my daughter and her fiance, who then reassembled my powered wheelchair while staff waited with patience and good humour.

Overall the care is good. Personal hygiene could be improved. Some days when I visit my Mum she looks quite dishevelled. Always have to ask for nails to be cut as sometimes they are very, very long. The staff are always willing to do them when asked. The staff, on the whole, are good. Don't see management

A big, heartfelt thank you to all the amazing staff on the EMI unit for the outstanding care that you provided to our mum until her passing. You are exceptional and we are so happy that mum spent her remaining year and a half here. Not only did you look after mum, but you provided superb support to
our family too. We are blessed by your care and at peace knowing that we couldn't have put mum anywhere better. The staff are simply the best and we will remember you all with warmth and love. Thank you xxxxxx

I like that the carers are down to earth. Everyone is very friendly, not too posh. The activities are fun, everyone joins in and tries there best with the singing and dancing including me. I can not fault the food, there is always just enough to eat. Then the staff assist me with my daily needs. I have
never felt embarrassed and they treat me with respect. I love having a cup of tea and a good natter with the staff. I am very very glad that this home was made and I'm glad to have the help and support that I need from the staff. It's like a home away from home and I feel at home here.

I am happy with the care and the health care assistants are very good with all the service users. Trained staff keep me informed and involve me in my mums care. I do think that the furniture could do with being renewed in the lounge, chairs smell at times, of urine. It is more to do with renewal, as
cleaners work hard and keep the home looking clean. Could be more activities/better for the patients upstairs. Therapy groups, training for activity nurses.
Reply from Vicky Kelly, Home Manager at Victoria Care HomeHello there, thank you for taking the time to review Victoria Care Home - we appreciate all comments and feedback. From your review I can see you have a couple of concerns which I will address for you. We have recently added a new sofa in the main lounge and the team are also planning a deep clean of all other furniture in the lounges. We also have a dedicated Personal Activities Leader who has put together an activities programme for the residents, alongside a year planner which includes special theme days and celebrations throughout 2016. If you do have any activities you’d like to see introduced in the home, we’d love to hear them! I will discuss these with you in further detail in person, but if you do have any further concerns then please do not hesitate to raise these with me. Best wishes, Vicky.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.592)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.592) out of 10 for Victoria Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.592 for Victoria Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (156 Excellents x 5) + (79 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 245 Ratings = 4.592
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victoria Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
