My overall experience is excellent. The staff are particularly kind and helpful. The nursing staff understand my needs and are happy to provide the care that I need. The food is my only issue, I understand it is to the taste of most people my age but I have difficulties sometimes. I do have relatives
and friends who are willing to supplement my meals. Overall my experience is good.

My mother-in-law came to live in Victoria in February, she is in the Elderly Mentally Infirm nursing unit due to dementia. The staff have been very welcoming and caring. Our anxieties have definitely reduced and I would definitely recommend Victoria Care Home to others.
The decision for 24-hour care
was a difficult one but we’re happy it was the right decision and feel my mother-in-law is safe and looked after.

Dad and I are so grateful to all the staff for their dedication, expertise and sense of humour. This caring job is such a tough one, requiring great patience, compassion and resilience. The staff at Victoria Care Home have all these and so much more.
They also listen - such an important thing is to
be able to ask about any concerns. They always listen and act on our questions. On behalf of my mum, thank you so much.

The care from staff is very worrying. My uncle was discharged into this care home to receive care. Within three weeks of being here, he passed away. He was never moved into the home as end-of-life. Nor did any doctor mention end-of-life care. He deteriorated due to lack of fluids and his dignity was
not protected. He was left in bed with severe safety concerns from family, we have raised a formal complaint following his treatment at the home.
Reply from Hannah Burke, Marketing Executive at Victoria Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of your loss, so offer our deepest condolences to you and your family. All of the staff are committed to providing the best possible care experience for all of our residents and we are sorry to hear that you feel this has not happened in your case. I picked this care home as it was in the same village as me, so easy to visit. It was clean and very friendly. The staff are lovely and take great care of the residents, even when some days you can see they are understaffed. I understand, that while in the midst of covid, they were not able to have
a mobile hairdresser in, but think it's about time they brought it back. My only complaint is they have no activities for the residents. They need something more than just sitting in front of a TV all day and everyday.
Reply from Olivia Shields, Marketing Assistant at Victoria Care HomeThank you for your comments about Victoria Care Home. We appreciate you taking the time to give feedback and thank you for the kind comments about our team. We are sorry to hear your concerns about the activities in the home. We are pleased to announce that we have recently recruited a new magic moments coordinator, so moving forward there will be plenty of activities and entertainment on offer for our residents. Our magic moments together programme, encourages all-round wellbeing. In equal measure we focus on keeping the mind sharp and agile, the body fit and mobile and the soul lively and engaged through entertainment, challenges, discoveries and personal interest activity.
We have lots of exciting events and activities to look forward to in the home this summer, including big plans for the Queen’s Jubilee. Please do get in touch with the home directly if you would like to discuss anything further.

I would highly recommend Victoria Care Home to friends and family. My mum is treated very well indeed from the care provided and has been treated with the utmost dignity. The surrounding area is very good in making it feel homely in a secure environment and making her feel safe. They do their very best
to make sure both she is happy and contented with her life.

My mother was resident at Victoria Care Home, Rainford, Merseyside from 24.12.2014 to 16.6.2020 when sadly she passed away at 83 years of age. Mum suffered from Alzheimer's disease. During her residence, Mum was looked after and cared for to the highest standards in my opinion. All staff were totally
professional, pleasant and cheerful. Mum's end of life care was excellent. Staff showed great compassion. Thank you all!

Victoria Care Home has exceptional staff. Their prime concern is the residents; their wellbeing, safety and care. They take time to sit with them and chat. It can be very busy at times but that does not phase them. They create activities, sing-a-longs, painting etc. They get to know the residents as
individuals. They always keep you informed of any situations. They all get on, it's a happy home. My dad and I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for Mum. We waved to her nearly every day. Thank you.

My mum has very recently been placed at Victoria after a long stay in hospital. With the current situation, we haven’t had the opportunity to go inside, but the staff have been really accommodating in allowing my dad to see her through the window and wave whenever he wants to. This has been just what
he needed after not being able to visit mum in hospital. The half an hour he was able to visit for on the outside last week was so lovely for them both too. We are really happy with Victoria’s care of my mum so far, but I am only able to answer the questions on what we have seen through the window.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.592)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.592) out of 10 for Victoria Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.592 for Victoria Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (156 Excellents x 5) + (79 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 245 Ratings = 4.592
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victoria Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
