Fees quoted are the residential room rate only and based on facilities such as (ensuite, ground floor, garden access etc) but may also be increased due to level of personal care dependency. Respite is for a minimum period of 2 weeks. Please note that the costs quoted are the room costs only. Funding Nursing Care (FNC) if assessed and granted is retained by the Birkdale Park to cover the necessary costs for the specialist nursing care and clinical supervision for that individual. Weekly hair dressing is available and approx £12-£20 dependent on treatment eg Cut and Blow - Cut and Set. Other chargeable services could include physio or podiatry. All rooms have TV and WIFI. There are no other costs.
These prices are only a guideline, please contact Birkdale Park Nursing Home to find out the exact price for your requirements.
If you chose a care home based in England, you may be eligible for NHS Funded Nursing Care (FNC), which helps cover the cost of nursing. This is worth £254.06 per week and is usually paid directly to the care home.
No restrictions, however, Birkdale Park does operate protected mealtimes nicely 'discourage' visiting to allow staff to focus on ensuring lovely residents are served food without distraction. These times are 1230 -1400 and 1630-1730 hrs.
Rear car park, however, if car parking and reversing skills aren't what they used to be then it is recommended to park on the main road outside the care home.

Dear Lorraine, many thanks for taking the time to write a review of your Mother’s care at Birkdale Park. I also welcome the 5 Star reviews you have provided for care, food, dignity, cleanliness etc. I agree aspects of the nursing home appear dated. This is not surprising as a converted Victorian dwelling. It is also equipped with the latest facilities and rooms with views onto our landscaped gardens. I fully sympathise that you were upset that we asked you to find another home for your mum but we were unable to effectively manage her behaviours. I must thank you for recognising that I provide a weekly video update to all relatives. Birkdale Park is one of the few care homes in UK that provide this service. Other families comment and value our effective communication so I must apologise if this was not your experience. I do hope your Mum is now settled in her new home. She was a lovely lady and quite a character. It would be lovely to see you if you are passing. Thank you, Jonathan

Jonathan is the Registered Care Manager and eldest son of the owner Mrs Cunningham. Birkdale Park is very special to Jonathan as it is where he grew up as a child and watched the home convert into a nursing home in the mid 1980s. Room 27 is his old bedroom! Jonathan has had a varied career. He spent 16 years in the Army reaching the rank of Major, he was awarded an MBE in 2010 for operational service and now uses all his leadership skills at Birkdale Park leading his amazing care team. He has been awarded multiple awards for services to social care and is a regular voice and face on radio and TV speaking about his passion for elderly care. He loves his team and his role as a registered care manager. He is the continuity over the care home and provides a calm hand of reassurance to staff, residents and relatives. He describes himself as the 'Captian of the ship' as the buck stops with him. All relatives have his personal mobile number so you have fabulous connection with the home and continual reassurance that your loved one is in good hands.
