I do not live locally and having my Dad resident in a Nursing Home where the care is outstanding is a huge weight off my mind as I know they look after him as if he was their own family.
A huge thank you to Jonathan and the whole of the Team at Birkdale Park.
It means a great deal to hear that your Dad is treated with dignity, kindness, and warmth every day - that's exactly...
My Auntie has many eccentricities and the home always does its best to accommodate her. My family is kept updated as to her care needs. I don't know any other home where the owner/manager can be found encouraging the residents to join in in a sing-a-long while Jonathan plays the ukulele. Furthermore, it is simply a unique experience for the residents to be taken out on the homes rickshaw whenever the weather permits. My Auntie isn't just a resident, the whole team make her feel like she is part of the Birkdale Park family and therefore Birkdale Park truly has become her home.
Knowing that your Auntie feels like a true part of our family means everything to us - because that's exactly what we hope for every person who calls...

The care & attention that all the staff gave my mum was outstanding! She was made to feel very welcome from the day she arrived which helped her to settle in quickly. They always made time for her when she needed, they never rushed her or made her feel like she was taking up people's time. It gave me great comfort & reassurance knowing she was being very well cared for in a kindhearted environment.

Mum entered her new home here in Birkdale Park on October 23rd. It was her decision and she embraced everything you need to offer. Mum was becoming more isolated at home, yes she saw family but friendships were few. Very soon she became an active member of the 'Blue Slipper Gang' meeting in the lounge to enjoy craft, make shortbread and sing and dance with the very full programme of events. Though her stay was relatively short, her life ended with a wonderful quality of care she would never experience anywhere else. I can't thank you enough.
Thank you for sharing such kind words. We're grateful your mum chose to make Birkdale Park her home, and it was a privilege to support her. We're so pleased she found friendship, purpose, and joy in our activities and community. Although her time with us was short, we are honoured to have been part...

Jonathan is the Registered Care Manager and eldest son of the owner Mrs Cunningham. Birkdale Park is very special to Jonathan as it is where he grew up as a child and watched the home convert into a nursing home in the mid 1980s. Room 27 is his old bedroom! Jonathan has had a varied career. He spent 16 years in the Army reaching the rank of Major, he was awarded an MBE in 2010 for operational service and now uses all his leadership skills at Birkdale Park leading his amazing care team. He has been awarded multiple awards for services to social care and is a regular voice and face on radio and TV speaking about his passion for elderly care. He loves his team and his role as a registered care manager. He is the continuity over the care home and provides a calm hand of reassurance to staff, residents and relatives. He describes himself as the 'Captian of the ship' as the buck stops with him. All relatives have his personal mobile number so you have fabulous connection with the home and continual reassurance that your loved one is in good hands.
