Birkdale Park Nursing Home

Well looked after under the Covid circumstances. A short stay of 2 weeks after a hospital stay.

Overall I feel Birkdale Park has been the best place we could have found for mum with the resources at our disposal. The carers really do care. Mum's room is kept clean and she always has clean clothes and bedding. The carers show compassion and interest in mum and have been very kind and thoughtful with dad when he visits too. Birkdale Park has been managed particularly well throughout the COVID pandemic and families of residents have been kept informed at all stages. All staff have worked really hard.

My sister transferred to Birkdale Park a few years ago as her previous home was closing. Although anxious at first, it was the best thing for my sister. The staff encouraged her to come out of her room more and use the lounges and courtyard where my sister has developed friendships and joined in the activities within the home. In addition to the activities in the home, my sister has enjoyed trips out on the rickshaw for ice cream along the promenade, minibus trips to gardens centres and even a trip to Blackpool. It is a new lease of life for her being a resident at Birkdale Park.

My sister has been in Birkdale Park for over two years now. She is happy, well-fed, and looked after at all times. Staff are very attentive, and ensure the home is kept clean and all residents are given the best of care. If I ever need to go into care I hope I'm lucky enough to go into a place like this. It doesn't look or smell like a care home, and all the residents are treated with dignity and care.

My mum has been in Birkdale Park for 2 1/2 years now, I cannot recommend this place enough. All the staff which includes everyone in the building is caring kind and thoughtful. I have been so grateful throughout Covid for the care given to mum and the safety she has received, we have been given updates at very regular intervals including zoom meeting, Skype and walk rounds to ensure us of the wellbeing of our relatives. The staff are caring and considerate to mum and myself approachable and friendly nothing seems too much trouble and importantly to me laughter can be heard throughout the building when I visit making it a happy place. Mum had a pacemaker fitted at the age of 97 and has recovered remarkably with the help and care from the staff, she has a lovely single room with her personal belongings around her. Thank you, Birkdale Park. I would strongly recommend it to everyone.

My mum was in Birkdale Park for two and a half weeks. I can honestly say she was so well cared for. The care and support was given not only to her but to myself too. Such a worrying time when a parent can't look after themselves anymore. I could tell they all treated my mum with respect. I just wanted to say a big thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My dad very much enjoyed his stay at Birkdale Park and particularly appreciated the care and dedication of the staff. He has strengthened significantly during his stay and is now in a position to move to a residential home. I found the staff (both management and operational) to be very good, helpful and considerate with a particularly sensitive and evitably accommodating approach to the interaction between the resident (my dad) and his family. I also appreciated the warmth, friendship and openness/franchises in their engagement with me, my dad and the ability to bring humour in an appropriate manner to a tough situation.

Since mum was admitted in December the team have been great with both her and our family, through some difficult times. They have helped facilitate contact via visits and phone calls and it's now great to be able to visit on a regular basis. The care and contact have been exceptional and the hygiene in the building has been the best I have experienced in any similar facilities.

My friend was only here for 5 weeks but I was impressed by the friendliness of all the staff and their cheery attitudes. All were helpful in trying to meet my friend's needs. They were also caring and compassionate in their dealing with me.

Communication prior to admittance was excellent and on arrival. All staff very approachable, professional with care and dignity. Personal care and in house staff transformed my mum. Hairdressing, nails polished, clean clothes at all times. I saw her (via first-floor window due to covid). Mum arrived with badly long dirty nails form the hospital, Birkdale Park immediately cut and cleaned her nails. Her overall care and well being is a credit to them, A big thank you - sorry Mum had to move on.

I would like to thank the manager and his team at Birkdale Park who looked after my mum after a terrible stroke during a very traumatic time for the family. The Management and the staff who cared for my mum could not have been more professional but equally as important they were gentle with her. She had lost her memory and most of her eyesight and was extremely confused. Despite this, the staff were always on hand to help and encourage my mum. We as a family felt that mum was safe and also felt comfortable talking to the nursing staff who provided us with peace of mind that mum was being looked after. Nursing staff have a tough job and the staff at Birkdale Park went the extra mile with my mum. Thank you very much to the manager and the staff including the Admin team.

My mother-in-law moved into Birkdale Park in October 2020. I have always found the care she received to be exemplary. From moving in there until she passed away in March, she was shown nothing but love and care. All the staff are so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for my mother-in-law. I highly recommend this care home.

Our mum who was aged 77 has been in Birkdale Park for the last 4 years. She was admitted straight from hospital originally for respite for my dad aged 83 at the time. Sadly within 3 months, my dad passed away. Mum has dementia and is unable to live alone. Birkdale Park has been her ‘home’ for 4 years and I have to say particularly over the last year this place has got better and better and I would highly recommend if you are in the dilemma of choosing care for your relative look no further.

The care during the covid-19 crisis has been exceptional. The manager and the staff amazing as always.Thank you to everyone at Birkdale Park.

My aunty has been there for nearly two years and at first, any home seemed not the ideal place as we were very upset. This place has been a godsend as it’s really looking, after all, it’s residents and making every effort to keep everyone happy and safe. They couldn’t do more. We see a video every day and can look into everything that is happening to our loved one every day. They seem really happy. We can video call if we want to and send messages. All the staff are so lovely and helpful. I’m glad we picked this care home.

The team are hard-working, dedicated, respectful, and we appreciate the care Mum is receiving.

My cousin has been receiving continuous care in Birkdale Park for nearly 10-months. Because I live in a different area and have other "vulnerable" relatives to attend to regularly in my locality, I have only managed to visit my cousin in this care home three times during his stay there. However, I can honestly say that this care home is an absolute delight to visit. The staff have always been so welcoming; it has always been clean, tidy and fresh smelling. I can tell from my cousin's demeanour that he is so pleased and happy to have Birkdale Park look after him in the kindly and professional way that they do. Please keep up the good work Birkdale park; you run an establishment to be very proud of.

Respectful, professional and happy staff that are brilliant with the residents. The home was recommended by a health care professional and I couldn’t be more pleased with my fathers care.

My aunty is in Birkdale Park and has been there for the past three years and in that time has received excellent care from all the staff. All the staff are very friendly and caring, from the cleaners to the carers and the catering staff. We as a family are quite content to leave her there knowing she is receiving the best care possible. It is a very clean and comfortable home and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. During the terrible coronavirus, the Manager of the home does a daily walkabout which he videos so that we can see our loved ones, as we are not allowed to physically visit and it puts our mind at rest. If there is anything wrong in normal times, we are informed straight away by telephone. Normally they provide entertainment and have their hair done. My aunty, unfortunately, has dementia and is treated with dignity. We would be very happy to recommend this home to everyone.
