A very professional and caring approach was taken from the staff at Birkdale Park from the beginning. I felt very satisfied and at ease that my Dad was being looked after by such lovely and caring staff in his short stay here. The home is very homely and welcoming and I felt happy and at ease to be able to visit Dad at any time. Nothing was too much trouble.

Birkdale Park is a first-rate nursing home. The compassionate and caring staff are truly dedicated to ensuring that my mother has all her complex needs fully met. They treat her not only with dignity but also as if she were a friend. They go out of their way to get to know their residents and their families. The home is very clean and beautifully appointed. I could not ask for better care for my mum.

The staff are fantastic and there's always something going on to interest her.
The manager even took her and her husband out along the pier in a rickshaw, he even did all the cycling.
We are welcome any time we want to visit and they even bring us a tray of tea.
It's her birthday on Thursday and we are having a party plus cake which they make for everyone's special day.
There seems to be lots of singing as one of the residents loves to sing and gets everybody joining in.
If it ever comes to the point where I can't look after myself I hope there's a Birkdale park near me.

Meet the Team (1)

Jonathan is the Registered Care Manager and eldest son of the owner Mrs Cunningham. Birkdale Park is very special to Jonathan as it is where he grew up as a child and watched the home convert into a nursing home in the mid 1980s. Room 27 is his old bedroom! Jonathan has had a varied career. He spent 16 years in the Army reaching the rank of Major, he was awarded an MBE in 2010 for operational service and now uses all his leadership skills at Birkdale Park leading his amazing care team. He has been awarded multiple awards for services to social care and is a regular voice and face on radio and TV speaking about his passion for elderly care. He loves his team and his role as a registered care manager. He is the continuity over the care home and provides a calm hand of reassurance to staff, residents and relatives. He describes himself as the 'Captian of the ship' as the buck stops with him. All relatives have his personal mobile number so you have fabulous connection with the home and continual reassurance that your loved one is in good hands.
