My Mum passed away on 30th November after spending over 5 years in this home. We were called in as she was deteriorating and as soon as we got there we were told that only 2 people could go in to see her. She has 3 children, but this didn't matter. My brother spent a few mins with Mum before going to sit in the car. One of the nurses came in and I said my mum was in discomfort. She replied I think I know your Mum better than you. We were then told we couldn't stay with mum as there was covid in the home. We asked why we couldn't stay. Mum was in her own room with a toilet, so we didn't need to leave the room. We got told No you have to leave now. As you can imagine how we were all feeling when we had to leave our dying mum and could not be with her when she passed. A few hours later my brother got a call to say she had passed away. This home is a disgrace, they have no humanity. This was an extremely distressing experience for my family and my mother.

We were very sorry to receive your review. As you know, the home was in a major COVID outbreak at the time, and the home had to follow the rules in place regarding end-of-life care, visitors and testing. The home accommodated family members at the home all day and it was the night team that had...

Not a very relaxing environment - noisy, music and a gentleman in the courtyard shouting obscenities whilst his hands were down his trousers. Room is very sparse and in need of refurbishment. No food given all day - not taken out of bed at all. Lots of staff did not speak English and very difficult for patients and relatives to communicate basic needs.

How saddened we were to receive your review. The issues you raise have all been addressed directly with yourself, and we swiftly acted upon your concerns; there have been numerous conversations and an apology given. Unfortunately, room choice was limited upon move-in but soon rectified, as were...

Overall Experience

My mother passed away on the 7th of April 2022. She had been a resident of Manchester House since September last year when after a hospital visit she was unable to return to her previous home. Mum was bedbound after the hospital stay and needed extensive care due to dementia and the inability to move without a lot of help. The staff have been exceptional in their knowledge and care, always preserving Mum's dignity in very difficult circumstances as she was by now double incontinent. This time was made bearable for me because of the professionalism and human kindness of the staff and especially the manager.

I came in very sick underweight and depressed and was greeted from the offset with reliable, caring, professional, dignified, friendly staff who from day one made me feel at home again and like a person who mattered again, both physically and mentally. I have made a long lasting friendship with staff and residents. I hope I will be able to return after my operation for rehabilitation.

Staff are very kind and caring.

I have various allergies to some foods. They try to give me suitable meals most times - for which I am grateful - however - a lot of the food is frozen. I realise it is difficult with so many people to feed.

My son has received good nursing care for severe pressure wounds and progressive MS plus his general care and welfare. He is kept clean, warm and well-fed. He is comfortable there and considers it 'home'.

Every time I visit, I find the staff very friendly and accommodating, always around to make refreshments for me and my cousin. He seems happy with all staff and they all seem to have a good relationship with him, which is nice for me to see.

I am extremely happy with all of the staff at Manchester House. My brother has Down’s Syndrome and many complicated medical problems. My family and I feel absolutely, completely happy with how they have dealt with his problems associated with his needs. I have witnessed the staff on many occasions dealing with my brother's problems as well as other residents in a professional, caring and very calm manner at all times. Absolutely amazing staff and a very professionally run place.
