Overall Experience
I moved my uncle from a care home that in my opinion was not meeting any of his needs and in fact after complaining was deemed to be failing numerous standards by The Care Quality Commission.
From the point of contact, over two years ago, to the present date my uncle has had exceptional care and respect. The manager is exceptional in her delivery of excellent care for all the residents and there is a strong sense of teamwork whenever I visit, which is frequently. He has the onset of dementia and at times can be very difficult but nothing phases the staff team and they have dealt with all incidents appropriately.
He is always well cared for physically and staff take pride in ensuring he receives encouragement when he gets distressed. I have witnessed many occasions when staff have been dealing with other relatives/residents in exactly the same way.
I frequently ask to view his bedroom and it is always spotlessly clean and fresh smelling which again is important to him. If he needs anything the staff will speak directly to me and always include me in any discussions made about him and his care. When he has had falls or an incident this is always reported to me immediately by whichever staff member is in charge on that shift.

Staff spend time with the residents and talk to them which is unlike his other home where they were always huddled in groups or in the dining room drinking tea. Overall I am extremely happy with Millbrook and hope he will remain there for some years to come.
