The Tithebarn has beautifully landscaped grounds complete with a duck pond, and lies in the historic town of Crosby in Liverpool. The team provide residential care and residential dementia support for up to 42 residents. The Dementia Support House includes a sensory garden, sensory boxes and assistive technology.

Our care fees for self-funded and local authority funded residents are subject to a preadmission needs assessment which is a requirement of admission, so the Home can fully understand the level of care and support required by each individual. The prices quoted are weekly and for guidance only. They will be confirmed following a full assessment. Respite care may be offered and is usually 10% above the permanent care fees, subject to availability and will depend on an assessment of a person’s care needs.

The staff I have talked to or seen with my mum al show a great amount of care and consideration for her. The activities I have seen or taken part in are excellent and directed towards the people being cared for. The area my mum lives in is always clean and tidy. It is a pleasure to enter.

My mum has been at Tithebarn for 12 months now. It was a big decision for us to make, but the staff at Tithebarn were very supportive. In the first few months they recognised that my mum's dementia was more advanced and supported Mum and us in moving her to the dementia unit. The staff are kind and
caring to the residents and supportive to family. The house needs work and a lick of paint in places, but that doesn't matter, it is the care of residents that matters, and that is good.

My husband has been a resident for about 3.5 years now. We both feel lucky that he is in this particular home and since the new manager took over about 2 years ago the home has become so welcoming, comfortable and like a home from home. Many changes have taken place, the staff are so friendly. All in
all these things seem to make the residents feel better, at least in my opinion. Nothing in life is perfect but The Tithebarn comes very close to perfection. I have many reasons to believe this.

My nan has been here for a few years and the care she has received has been excellent. The staff are absolutely wonderful with all the residents. They engage with everyone including visitors and you can see they genuinely care. They keep improving the facilities, we've now got a lovely coffee area and
they have put in a pathway around the duck pond where residents can sit and watch the ducks who hatched in the home. There is always entertainment if you want to join in and trips out. My nan's room is beautiful and always spotless. Very happy with The Tithebarn.

I chose The Tithebarn for my Mum almost 2 years ago as it was set in quiet grounds with a duck pond and is in a convenient location in Crosby, because it seemed homely and welcoming and you can pop in at any reasonable time without giving notice to see your loved one. That said, the most important factor
in choosing a home for me was the quality of care which is obviously hard to assess on a single visit (I looked round 5 homes). I needn't have worried. The Manager and his team clearly place a huge emphasis on recruiting and importantly retaining kind, understanding carers and support staff. They will happily try to tailor the care given to suit individual resident's preferences (important for me as when my Mum first went she was suffering from severe anxiety) and hold regular meetings for both residents and their families to facilitate collective improvements. This is an excellently run care home and I can recommend it without any hesitation.

This was a very easy transition into care at The Tithebarn. After a visit to the home and speaking with the manager, I decided that this was exactly the fit for my wife. The manager came to our home for the assessment, I found that he took in all that he heard from us and passed it on to the staff.
My wife moved in on the 1st of July 2024 and by the 4th had done 2 trips out. I now have complete confidence that I have made the right decision.

My Mother has been a resident of The Tithebarn for over five years now and in all that time she has received the utmost care and attention to all of her daily wants and needs. The food is of restaurant quality with as much tea, coffee, fruit juices, and the occasional tipple as she could ever manage.
Thank you for looking after my Mother in the way that you do so well it’s comforting and so good to know that they love and care for her needs as we do ourselves.

Mum has been a resident for almost 12 months. The care she receives is exceptional. The staff are so kind the her. They go above and beyond, even painting her nails! My mother is a resident at Tithebarn. She is in the Maud Wing. The staff here are very attentive to her needs and are always on hand. As I live some distance away, I generally use the phone to communicate. With my mother's dementia, the conversations are challenging and often short. The staff are supportive
of enticing Mother to communicate. They are proactive and always inform me of any incidents in a very timely manner.
When I visit, I find the place clean, and organised and am always allowed to conduct any conversation with my mother in a private location. I am made to feel very welcome and the staff appreciate my interest in my mother and the place in general.
The carers deserve thanks and recognition for the challenges of the job and hopefully are well looked after.

The Tithebarn is a friendly, pleasant and beautiful place to be. The staff are lovely though sometimes overstretched when more help would be appreciated. The new manager has been making improvements and that included a more relaxed atmosphere and a comfortable place to be that applies to visitors also.
We have a nice dining room and the kitchen staff are nice too. The carpets here are frequently cleaned, I think that's excellent. Some rooms are small but adequate. We have entertainment and occasionally outings. I am cared for with regard to health and needs and lucky to be in such a good place.

The care staff provide a caring, inclusive environment for all residents. Birthdays are celebrated with cake and wine and everyone gets involved. They cope very well with tantrums and have learned the best way to manage them - even when Mum is throwing things. They always try to identify a reason for
her behaviour and address the issue rather than giving tablets to calm the situation. I have no hesitation in recommending The Tithebarn for all the care, support and understanding they provide.

In general, I think that Tithebarn provides good care for my father. The staff are very friendly and he gets on well with them. They are caring and professional in the work they do. Communication with the home is good. The food is also good, he enjoys the variety of food provided. His room and bathroom
could be a bit cleaner at times, as could his wheelchair. The facilities in the home are good and the home is warm and comfortable. Considering the difficulties the pandemic caused, I think they do a good job of looking after my father.

Pleased with the care Dad receives. I would like them to tell him a bit more about what is going on in the home because he only gets information through me. He seems happy, is well fed and is safe. All in all, he is satisfied with his situation and so are we, his family.

Very good care was offered. They are specifically good when there is a covid outbreak. Some of the rooms are a bit dated but have been refreshed over the last few months. Outside activities are limited but this could be covid related. Would strongly recommend it.

My mum has been a resident at the Tithebarn for the past 2 years +. Mum has come on leaps and bounds whilst in their care. The carers and all the staff at the Tithebarn have collectively tended to my mother's needs. The home is clean and tidy and the rooms are kept in excellent condition.

My father has been a resident in the Tithebarn for nearly three years now and even though he can be quite demanding, he settled in quite quickly. Some of the staff go above and beyond to make his daily life as comfortable as possible. If he has had any health issues, they have been dealt with quickly
and professionally. Because of the specific care the staff give, this has reduced any concerns the family have had. We can relax a little knowing he is in good hands. I would recommend the Tithebarn to anyone looking for a residential home for a loved one.

My Aunt was cared for at The Tithebarn for over 8 years, following a stroke. The standard of care given to her was always excellent. She was extremely happy with all the services provided to her by everyone there - they cannot be faulted in any way. She said it was like living in a 5-star hotel! I was
able to relax knowing that at all times, she was being cared for to the highest standards and being made as comfortable as possible. I was also made very welcome whenever I was visiting. The home is operated by the most incredible people from the management down, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The residents' welfare always came first. Thank you to all concerned.

Simon

Simon Doherty

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

Since becoming the Home Manager of The Tithebarn in September 2022, Simon has demonstrated a clear vision and dedication to the residents and continues to lead and inspire his team.


Passionate about delivering outstanding dementia care, Simon has successfully achieved a Dementia Care Mapping qualification. Using this knowledge, Simon improved the Home’s dementia house, focusing on the atmosphere, environment and enhanced activities. His vision is that every person should be supported to live an independent life.


Simon supports residents’ individual interests; activities have included a resident art exhibition, and arranging exotic animal visits for therapeutic tactile resident interaction.

His latest project is to further enhance the dementia house, to give residents living with dementia a familiar environment with items of their past creating positive memories. Furthermore, he is creating a well-being courtyard for residents to enjoy a tranquil sensory space.


Under Simon’s leadership, staff take part in an innovative training programme called Experiential Learning. Simon utilises the Dementia Bus, where staff have the opportunity to experience first-hand what it might feel like to be a resident living with dementia.
