Windy Knowe is a Birkenhead care facility that provides both EMI nursing and residential care, as well as being skilled in a range of mental health care needs.

A traditional building, Windy Knowe has extensive grounds and spacious communal areas, while being fitted with modern care technology and equipment in order to ensure that high standards are met.

My wife has been a resident in Windy Knowe Nursing Home for almost four years where she is receiving excellent care. Two weeks ago I was informed that she was suffering from a chest infection. On my arrival, it was agreed to ask the doctor to attend. After his examination, he told me the prognosis was
poor. During this difficult time, all the staff involved, up to and including the manager, were professional, caring and attentive. One carer stayed with my wife overnight. Happily, the medication was effective and she recovered. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness and expertise during this worrying time.

As a family, we looked at many care homes (15 in total) and Windy Knowe stands out far above the rest in every way; the staff and management are excellent.
The home has a very good feel and atmosphere, this is all down to the staff and management, everyone is friendly, caring and understanding, they
also understand what our mum's individual needs are and ensure that they are fulfilled in every way.
Mum is very happy, very settled and safe after moving into Windy Knowe. After spending 60 years in her family home we were all worried about how long it would take for mum to settle into her new life but mum has settled in so quickly, and mum has exceeded everyone's expectations.
This is down to mum and the management and staff helping mum settle in, it now feels like mum has always lived there.

Mum had lived in her house for 60 years and never even spent a night in a hotel room on her own.
Mum had received good care at home during the day from a carefully chosen team of carers and family. Mum then needed 24-hour care.
I viewed 15 care homes in Liverpool but I felt that I could not leave
Mum in their care.
Windy Knowe from the management to all the staff I have met, from day one Mum settled really quickly, and the care team made Mum feel so welcome. Ensuring that Mum was receiving the attention and care she required. That Mum's food preferences were addressed. The TV is on and a good choice of programmes to watch and music played regularly all in the lounge.
Mum is so happy, a fab choice of food, it really does have a family feel. The residents have a balance of entertainment for residents of different capabilities and family events also.
Mum has a curly blow dry every week.
I am very focused on Mum's care, ensuring all care plan needs are addressed, nothing is too much trouble.

She is always treated with kindness and dignity, the staff go out of their way to make sure she feels safe and secure and that gives me peace of mind.

My mother has settled in very well to Windy Knowe. She seemed to settle straightaway. She moved from a previous home as they were unable to support her with her dementia. This place is an EMI home and specialising in it.
She is very happy there, the happiest I've known her for about 2 years since her
diagnosis of dementia. The staff are always pleasant and approachable and like my mum.
My mum has said she likes it there and I can see she is happy.
She has a lovely room which she enjoys. The place is set up with the bedrooms on the corridor and then the dining room, lounge after that. This gives the impression that it is sheltered which is good. Very spacious.

Samantha Hamon

Job Title: Registered Home Manager

Samantha has recently joined the team at Windy Knowe and we are so excited to see her flourish in her new role with Springcare!


Having started her career in Health and Social Care following in family footsteps, Sam has progressed her career to Home Manager from being a Care Assistant straight out of college, achieving her life dream along the way. 


I have worked in health and social care for 12 years, and I have been in a Home Manager role since July 2021. I love the open, honest and transparent approach of the company. I appreciate the guidance from my Senior Management Team and love the friendly feel of the care homes in the group. I like that I can support others in their journey and career within the company and that I can support our residents to have the best life possible whilst living at Windy Knowe.


I am a family person and when I’m not working, I spend a lot of my time with family and friends. My biggest achievement outside of work is a once in a lifetime trip to Disney World Florida sharing memories with family.


I completed a trident in high school at a care home near to where I lived. I went straight from school into college to study Health and Social Care, being successful in an apprenticeship. Following the apprenticeship ending, I was offered a permanent role.
My passion has always been to succeed in my career and become a Home Manager by the time I reach 30 – that dream came true!!! 


I was a Care Assistant until 2016 and achieved my Level 2 & 3 in Health & Social Care. I then trained as a Care Home Assistant Practitioner until 2019 and then became a Regional CHAP Facilitator and achieved my Level 5 in Management. In 2020 I then returned to working in a care home, and over the course of a year became Unit Manager, Acting Home Manager, Deputy Manager, reaching my end goal in 2021 of becoming a home manager.
