St Catherine's

My dad was a resident at St Catherine's for almost two years. He was happy and well cared for always. All the staff were brilliant and spent lots of time with him and he felt loved and cared for. Thank you for taking such good care of my dad.

My husband had to go into St Catherine's today for respite while I was recovering from an accident. I was assured that he could have his Kindle, his only reading matter because of his eyesight, his mobile phone and laptop to keep in touch with his family. I have just heard that he has none of those items. They have been taken for 'checking'. I was not told that this would happen. He now has to get through the night without reading or music. He is in a strange place with strange people and extremely vulnerable. They have not been caring or sympathetic at all. I shall fetch him out of there tomorrow.

The daily provision of tea/coffee and snack items is an excellent service. I have appreciated the help given to me with getting up each morning.

A beautiful place with a lovely, smiling team of helpers and cheerful residents. We had a peaceful time and plenty of chat. Thank you all.

I like the way in which the care home is turning into a pleasant place to live.

I think everybody that has a loved one in care would agree that the past few months have been very difficult and challenging. My dad only went into care last November and to St Catherine's February 2020. As a family, we were a bit hesitant having seen the CQC rating and how Dad would be cared for and then lockdown happened which, has been very upsetting and traumatic. However, we can't praise the staff enough they are all hardworking and so caring towards all the residents. They treat everyone with dignity and respect and we feel Dad is well looked after. The Manager and staff need to be congratulated as they have managed to keep the home COVID free which is such a relief. A big thank you to all the staff including kitchen staff and domestics.

The staff at St Catherine's went above and beyond to ensure that my grandparents were kept together. After my grandfather passed away, they gave my grandmother such care and affection and helped her get ready for the funeral, which was during the lockdown. The staff cannot do enough for the residents here and for that, I will be forever grateful.

We would highly recommend St Catherine's to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one.

Management have kept family informed and updated, particularly through this pandemic. I cannot thank the team at St. Catherines enough.

My mother was a resident at the home for over twelve months and spent her final days there. The care that she was given, in particular during the last months of her life was excellent. This was due to there being a change of management roughly halfway through her time at the home. There is now more continuity and familiarity between the staff, the residents and their families. The staff seem to now have clear task instructions to which they follow in a professional and emphatic manner. My family were given comfort knowing that our mum was taken care of safely in her time of need and we will always be grateful to the staff at St Catherine’s. Thank you to all of the team.

Not always included in activities, although we have requested her to be asked at every opportunity.

I feel safe and well looked after. The staff are very, very kind - nothing is too much trouble for them.

I was concerned a few months ago, as the home went through a rough patch where the standards slipped due to staff leaving. A new manager arrived a few weeks ago and things have turned around for the better. There are new office staff plus carers and nothing is too much trouble. If something is not right, they will go above and beyond to sort it out.

I wish my husband had received the same level of care in hospital as he did whilst he was at St Catherine's. The staff were always attentive irrespective of their role at the home always ensuring he had everything he needed. We are grateful for everything the team did and we were always kept up to date with my husband's condition which was so important.

My dad could not have spent his last few weeks in a better place. The care he got from everyone was second to none. The staff were extremely supportive to the family at a very difficult time. I can't praise this home enough. As a family we are so grateful to them

Staff went to a great deal of trouble to make relatives Anniversary or Birthday a very happy day.

He loves all the carers they are so kind and caring to him.

The staff need to feel appreciated.

My experience has been mixed. The daycare has been good but overnight not good. The staff take a long time to answer the call bell and one not sensitive to my needs. I am not happy with male carers to take me to the toilet.

On accompanying our auntie to St Catherine's we were greeted with a homely atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. The friendly and professional staff showed care and compassion dignity and respect to my auntie during her short time in the home. She received excellent personal care and her room was very clean and comfortable. As a family we were updated regularly and sensitively regarding my auntie's condition and were offered refreshments and a place of privacy as and when it was needed.
