The staff were very caring towards Mum and worked hard to help her settle. The service managers were very kind and patient with all family members during our visits and telephone calls. It was difficult that Covid restrictions impacted on visiting, but the staff encouraged us to phone whenever we wanted. We were very grateful for this.

Thank you for your review and kind words. We are pleased that our solutions to manage Covid restrictions met your needs, and we were happy to be able to help facilitate care for your mum.

As a resident undergoing respite care for a number of weeks, I became a resident of Kings Court Care Home. Throughout my stay, I was treated with dignity and kindness by busy professional staff who ensured that I was well taken care of and comfortable in my surroundings.

I live a long way away, and the staff always make it easy for me to communicate with her (taking care to stick to regulations). On a recent visit, I was given a recent photograph of her to take home with me, which meant a great deal.

Reply from Sarah Wilson, Operations and HR Assistant at Kingscourt Nursing Home

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad you liked the photograph, it is important for us to keep families in touch at this difficult time.

Mum spent the last two months of her life in the care of Kingscourt and I could not rate them more highly. So many of the staff went out of their way to ensure she felt valued, respected and loved, and as pre-restriction visitors, we were always welcomed and included in activities as family.
COVID-19 lockdown prevented family being with Mum as she passed on the 9th April, from an aggressive and rare brain tumour, and we will forever be grateful to the manager for holding her hand in her final hours, ensuring her passing was peaceful and that she knew her family loved her and were there with her in spirit.

Our hearts go out to these caring people during this time of crisis and I fervently hope the many residents and staff we got to know in such a short time remain safe and well, my sister and I think of you often.

Our mum spent the last few weeks of her life here and what a beautiful place this is. The management, nurses and carers are just amazing, I would call them ‘angels’. Our mum was thoroughly looked after, loved and cared for. Not once, did we feel worried about leaving mum in their care. Nothing was too much trouble, even for us as visitors - we could get tea and just stay with Mum as long as we wished. Mum was comfortable and in no pain when she passed away in one of the nurse's arms. As a family, we are so happy that Mum spent her last days there surrounded by care, love and respect, even though Mum was dying. We can’t thank the staff enough for this and we will always think of you all, as well as being incredibly thankful for loving our darling Mum. God bless you all.

Mum went into Kingscourt for end of life care. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The care Mum received was excellent, she passed away only a week later, but in that time she received the best of care. All the family were looked after while visiting. A huge thank you to the manager and al her staff for making my mum's last week as comfortable as possible, and for the family as easy as possible.

Mum was admitted for emergency care as she has Parkinsons and my Dad, who has dementia and also her carer, fell and was admitted to hospital for 4 weeks.
Mum was well looked after, kept clean, hairdressing service available, entertained by the staff and generally very well cared for.
Dad was also admitted for some respite/rehab’ care for 2 weeks and was equally well looked after and Lorraine the area manager bent over backwards to get Dad admitted in a speedy, efficient manner.
There was only one bugbear and that is the telephone system - couldn’t get through to staff, particularly out of hours.

Would highly recommend using this home, the staff are warm, kind people and treat residents with dignity.

I'm very happy with the care and respect that my dad receives from the staff. He has settled in and really enjoys his meals, likes to get involved with the daily events. His room is always tidy, cleaned and bed made every day.

The staff at Kingscourt are always polite and welcoming when you visit.

From the first steps through the doors of Kingscourt Nursing Home, I knew this was the forever home for our dad. The welcome from the staff was first class. Being told that the home was dad's home and that we could visit 24/7. We could also have meals with him. The staff at Kingscourt Nursing Home I cannot fault on anything. If dad has a fall or goes on medication, I am informed straight away. Kingscourt Nursing Home is a lovely home where everyone has their own room in which you can put your personal things in ie chair, TV etc. It is also very clean and just been decorated.

My father moved to Kingscourt after suffering a stroke. My mum had passed away a few months previously. This was such an emotional time for all the family. We are so happy that he is more than cared for. The warmth and care is extremely outstanding. We cannot thank Kingscourt for not only taking the pressure the family were experiencing but the love and support give my father and us. Everything about the home is so good. From management, care workers, the care he receives. We know he is being well looked after.

Overall Experience

There is a warm and homely feel to Kingscourt. My mother's background is not one of 4* hotel experiences, and the building, although purpose-built, does not present as such, yet the care and understanding she receives each day are very much Four Star. The environment is relaxed and friendly, and the staff are respectful in their care and attention. She has been living at Kingscourt for 4 years now, and minor issues have cropped up along the way, all dealt with immediately in a professional, satisfactory way. All in all, a very good choice for my mother, pitched just right for her experience and expectations. Very happy.

My mother moved to Kingscourt Nursing Home for end of life care. The manager and her deputy were very helpful in expediting the arrangements. She had a lovely room (albeit small) and care was taken to ensure the correct type of bed was available. We were made to feel welcome and free to visit at any time. Excellent personal care was provided to Mum. She suddenly deteriorated the morning after arriving. Staff immediately informed my husband and we were able to be with her constantly. I slept on the floor of her room that night. We were able to come and go during the evening and overnight, despite staff having to unlock the front door for us when they were busy. When she died they were sensitive, sympathetic, and helpful in making the necessary arrangements.

I cannot comment on food or activities as we did not use these but I observed that there was plenty for residents to do and company for them in the lounge. I assume food would be good; I was given buttered toast the morning after I stayed overnight.
