The home is currently run by excellent management and key staff. Most of the carers have a proactive attitude to the residents who in many cases are very challenging. The whole fabric of the building has been significantly upgraded during the past 12 months and is still ongoing.

When looking for a care home for my mother Adlington Manor was recommended to me. From my very first visit we were made very welcome by every member of staff that we met. Mum was subsequently visited by the deputy manager in hospital and it was agreed that mum would be able to be transferred as quickly
as possible.

The care we as a family have witnessed has been excellent, and we have no hesitation in recommending Adlington Manor to anyone having to make the decision to put their relatives into their care.

All the staff are kind, polite, efficient. The manager, carers, nurses, activity lady, cleaning staff cooks, maintenance staff and gardener we cannot fault them. The food is excellent, although I do feel older people do not need two hot meals a day. A lighter tea would be more suitable. The cleaning
ladies always keep the rooms nice and clean, tidy and smelling sweet. My husband has just had his room refurbished and is lovely. I am sure all the rest of the building will be the same when refurbishment is completed.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.602)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.602) out of 10 for Barchester Adlington Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.602 for Barchester Adlington Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (254 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 334 Ratings = 4.602
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Adlington Manor Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 69 registered maximum number of service users is 13.8, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Aderonke Mercy

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2022

My name is Aderonke Mercy, one of the registered Nurses in Adlington Manor. I have worked as a Nurse here in the home since 2022, and it has been fabulous.

In these years, I have been given the opportunity to provide care for residents as an individual, as the home is about respecting individual choices and supporting them to live happily.

The team at the home is made up of fabulous and passionate people who, over the years, have offered the support needed for me to transition and blend into a new environment, which is the utmost concern about moving to a new country away from home.

My time at Adlington so far has enabled me to witness and be a part of a tremendous contribution by the team towards the care of residents, and also the shared happy moments with both residents and their relatives.

The joy that comes with these tiny but life-changing events in the home shared by relatives has also been a great motivation to keep working and assisting residents while allowing them the freedom to be themselves.

I hope that I continue to impact lives in the home, providing care day after day and providing colleagues with the support required and that the residents have their faces lit up with a smile when they see me.

Dyanne

Dyanne Poquiz

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2021

My name is Dyanne, and I am part of the Nursing team at Adlington Manor. I joined the team in December 2021, and it was absolutely the right choice for me.

I was born and raised in the Philippines. After I passed my nursing license exam, I worked in a business process outsourcing company for more than 5 years until I decided to practice my profession. I worked as a community nurse for 2 years and as an operating room nurse.

Joining the team at Adlington Manor helped build my confidence, and I met a lot of wonderful people who are lovely and fabulous. I did not know in myself that I could lead a team, and I am lucky to have very supportive management and colleagues.

More than this, I became more passionate about what I do and how important mental health is. Looking after the elderly people and making a positive difference in their lives has a different kind of fulfilment.
