For the 3 months my mother has resided at Adlington Manor (Rowan Suite) the staff have always been polite and accomodating towards us. My mother has been very happy living at Adlington Manor, she enjoys her meals which do look very nice. She is always clean and presentable and the staff have a excellent
understanding of her needs, and they seem to be able to deal with any situation that arises. The building always kept clean and tidy with lovely outside grounds.

My Husband has been in Rowan Suite now for just over 12 months and I have not had any bad words to say about them. They are treated with care and dignity.
Foodwise it is excellent and also varies.
The staff interact wonderfully with all of the residents.
I cannot recommend them more.

Lovely staff, nice environment and setting in the Rowan Suite. Staff always go out of their way to provide a nice visiting experience. Staff have a good positive relationship with residents.
I feel my father is well looked after.
My only critisism is that his room sometimes has a very strong smell
of urine which seems to be from his bedding. We have to open the window to try and reduce the smell.
Reply from Fiona Gough, GM at Barchester Adlington Manor Care HomeThank you - we will investigate the odour and take all steps to correct

I have nothing but praise and thanks for the staff at Adlington Manor. They have taken a lot of pressure off the family and provided good solid caring and compassionate care to my dad. We cannot thank them enough.
In addition we have had good advice on practical matters which has helped a lot dealing
with the situation of my dad in care.
I do think bathroom facilities in my dads room need renewing though, he is in the Rowan unit

The staff are well trained in dementia and have always treated mum with kindness and understanding. Mum likes the majority of food but especialy the soup. I would like them have more entertainment from outside providers like musicians etc.
On the whole mum has thrived.

We were so pleased with the care our mum had for many years at Adlington Manor so we didn't hesitate to choose here again when we needed respite care for our dad. We were met with open arms and kindness from the moment we enquired.
Our dad's illness sadly progressed quickly and the staff were amazing
looking after his every need and supported us through this difficult time. We all and especially our dad felt we were part of a big family. We can't thank the staff enough and would highly recommend Adlington Manor.

My sister-in-law is 80 and probably in the final weeks of her life as the incurable cancer enters its final stage. VIsiting from abroad where I now live and probably seeing her for the last time (on this earth), I just took my final leave of Joyce.
I'd just like to say a big thank you to the staff
of this home genuinely and lovingly taking care of Joyce. Beginning with the manager, Fiona, right the way through the team I experienced true kindness, interest and love. My sister-in-law is really loving her time here which is proving to be a very real comfort for her in what are probably her last earthly moments.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.602)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.602) out of 10 for Barchester Adlington Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.602 for Barchester Adlington Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (254 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 334 Ratings = 4.602
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Adlington Manor Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 69 registered maximum number of service users is 13.8, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, my name is Adrian Stoian, and I joined Adlington Manor in February 2019.

Aderonke Mercy

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2022

My name is Aderonke Mercy, one of the registered Nurses in Adlington Manor. I have worked as a Nurse here in the home since 2022, and it has been fabulous.

In these years, I have been given the opportunity to provide care for residents as an individual, as the home is about respecting individual choices and supporting them to live happily.

The team at the home is made up of fabulous and passionate people who, over the years, have offered the support needed for me to transition and blend into a new environment, which is the utmost concern about moving to a new country away from home.

My time at Adlington so far has enabled me to witness and be a part of a tremendous contribution by the team towards the care of residents, and also the shared happy moments with both residents and their relatives.

The joy that comes with these tiny but life-changing events in the home shared by relatives has also been a great motivation to keep working and assisting residents while allowing them the freedom to be themselves.

I hope that I continue to impact lives in the home, providing care day after day and providing colleagues with the support required and that the residents have their faces lit up with a smile when they see me.

Dyanne

Dyanne Poquiz

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2021

My name is Dyanne, and I am part of the Nursing team at Adlington Manor. I joined the team in December 2021, and it was absolutely the right choice for me.

I was born and raised in the Philippines. After I passed my nursing license exam, I worked in a business process outsourcing company for more than 5 years until I decided to practice my profession. I worked as a community nurse for 2 years and as an operating room nurse.

Joining the team at Adlington Manor helped build my confidence, and I met a lot of wonderful people who are lovely and fabulous. I did not know in myself that I could lead a team, and I am lucky to have very supportive management and colleagues.

More than this, I became more passionate about what I do and how important mental health is. Looking after the elderly people and making a positive difference in their lives has a different kind of fulfilment.

As well my trade experience, I managed a combination of projects, including school, supported and social housing and large professional offices, as well as numerous environmental schemes. These varied roles allowed me to develop a greater understanding of not only construction, but also the wide variety of people living and working within them.

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2010

Hi, my name is Alfie, and I am the head chef here at Adlington Manor.

Originally from the Philippines, I have worked here since 2011, starting as a kitchen assistant and working my way up to second chef, and now head chef. I finished my NVQ 2 Level 2 in Hospitality & Catering Principles in 2018.

I love my job, as I think that it is all about dedication and having a genuine passion for doing what is best for the residents. Our food is all homemade by our team, and we pride ourselves on our ability to produce wonderful meals that the residents love to eat. Our team is passionate about food, and if the menu choices are not to residents' tastes, we are always happy to make something alternative.
