Since my mum has been in the care of Whitby House we as a family have found the staff to be so helpful and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them they all look after her 100%
As she is confined to her room it is really nice to know she is sat with and talked to so as not to be alone.

Thank you all.

I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful establishment. Since my mum came I have had full peace of mind that all her needs are met with dignity and compassion, nothing is too much trouble.
The staff are amazing, warm, compassionate, thorough, to name a few of their attributes. I can sleep at night knowing my mum is in safe and caring hands.

Thank you so much!

After a long spell in hospital, it was decided that dad would have to be discharged to a nursing home. This was no easy decision but dads wellbeing was our priority. I was initially heartbroken but how wrong I was. Whitby House has been so good for him - he is registered blind amongst other health problems and has gone from being fiercely independent to totally dependent in a short space of time. Everyone at Whitby House has welcomed him and us the family and made it so much easier than I expected to make this life-changing move. The transfer of care was seamless and he has really settled in thanks to the warmth, care and friendliness of everyone there. Nothing is too much trouble, the food is good and wholesome with plenty of choices and the entire home is clean and always smells fresh. His room is great - being allowed to bring things in from home has made it very comforting to dad. From my initial phone call to now, I know we made the right decision in choosing Whitby House for him.

My mother has been a resident for five months. She has always been treated with the utmost dignity and respect.

She is encouraged to take part in all activities and enjoys the stimulation, even if she has limited cognition.

Everyone at Whitby House is friendly, helpful and supportive. My mother became a resident here a few months ago and has settled in quickly. Her health has improved since she arrived and this is due to the care that she receives on a daily basis.

My nan's final days at Whitby House were undoubtedly the ones where she received the best care. Nothing was an issue. She wasn't aware of where she was or who people were, but nonetheless, she was still treated with dignity. There was no problem with her having as many family members there as we wanted. My sister and I, also slept on the floor in her room just to ensure she was never alone. The staff were amazing. The sister that was on, on the day she died, was so supportive and understanding.

Sadly, my nan never got to benefit from other sides of the home. But every time I was there, the residents were being entertained with games of bingo etc. In fact, we helped raise funds for a projector so they could watch the films they liked, together. My only regret is that my nan spent so long in hospital and only came here once she was close to the end. However, my heartfelt thanks must still go out to all those who work there, that made her final days pain-free and comfortable.

Overall Experience
My mother was in Whitby House for about three weeks for palliative care, she was very poorly when she arrived at Whitby House so the staff could not really establish a connection with my mum but that did not stop them giving her the highest level of care. From the first day of her stay there she was treated with utmost dignity and respect and every carer we ever saw with her spoke to her as though she was a long lost friend of theirs.
Because of my mother's condition she had many visitors who happily stayed with her for many hours sometimes all through the night. Having many close relatives so often at my mother's side was never a problem with any of staff and they could not have treated us better.

Thanks for everything that the staff of Whitby House did for us, you will always be in our thoughts. At the home, we could see how hard the staff worked to entertain and interact with all the long-term residents. It was a joy to watch. The kind of care the team organised is so important for the residents.

My Grandmother was a resident at the care home for a few weeks before she sadly passed away. Throughout her stay, my Grandmother was treated with respect and dignity at all times. The staff were always very caring and welcoming. They were very understanding and had great sympathy for our loss.

Although my Grandmother didn't take part in any of the activities within the home, we were aware of some exciting and engaging events that were taking place for the residents both on and off-site.

My mother has been a resident in Whitby House now for just over three years and has built up a good relationship with a lot of the nurse's and health care there. They treat her well and care for her well being. Although she doesn't participate in the activities, they seem to try and keep the residents upbeat and entertained. The care home though does seem to lack in staffing levels at times.

My mum passed away June this year. During the time my mum was a resident, which was over 3 years, my sister and I were really pleased with the care she had.

The staff were always caring and nothing was ever too much trouble. My mum was always kept clean and food and drinks were adequate. The home is always kept clean and not smelling like some homes do. At the time of my mums passing it was dealt with sensitively.

First class home, care and attention could not be better. Clothing and bedding washed each day. Food provided cooked on site, first class, with a good menu to choose from. Visited in her room to check she is OK on a regular basis both day and night.

The attention to my wife is also extended to me. I am at the home for about six hours per day.
