Very friendly, caring staff, very helpful, no problems. The bedrooms are lovely and light, very clean. The dining area with TV where everyone can mix or stay in their room if they prefer. Food is very good, plenty of it. Nice, friendly atmosphere. The sitting area outside is lovely, especially on a sunny day. Management and nursing staff are there to sort out any problems or worries you may have and talk to them. Overall, very good.

After recently moving to Peel Gardens from another home, my dad has settled in well. We are really pleased with care given and my dad has shown improvements in behaviour after moving to Peel Gardens. The home has very relaxed, friendly atmosphere which has been beneficial for my dad and his condition.

Thank you to the team at the Colne Site, who looked after my mother for over seven years. Mum passed away in December, and I just want to say thanks to the manager and the staff for their support over the years.

My mother was admitted to Peel Gardens via the hospital. She was totally bedridden but with the excellent care and support from the staff, her rehabilitation has worked so well that she is now back home in the community. Certain members of staff went above and beyond their duty to make mum's stay excellent.

My mother was neglected and uncared for. She was too vulnerable to complain. My father was also in the home for a short period. We moved them both out within a few months of them moving. Even the manager quit because of the poor standards of the staff.

The carers at Peel Gardens have always had my mum’s very best interests as their focus, whether health or general happiness. They treat her with respect and her dignity is always at the forefront of their actions. My mum is treated as a unique individual and not as a “ service user.”

The care that my mother received in the 5 years she was there was fantastic. A care home is only as good as its staff and the staff at Peel Gardens Residential and Nursing Home are amazing. My mother's needs and dementia were complex but were dealt with brilliantly and with compassion and sometimes even with laughter. Her end of life care was given by staff that knew her and had grown very fond of my mum. They wanted as I and my sister and niece wanted the best for her at the end of her life. I feel she would not have got anywhere that in hospital.

Having perused introspectively my findings regarding Peel Gardens, where my Dad is, unfortunately, spending his palliative time, I'm utterly convinced he's in the best place possible. The nursing care he receives around the clock is fantastic, throughout the entire home. There's professionalism in every facet and departmental aspect, within this truly magnificent "home from home". I base my observations on a month's silent judgement and again, I must reiterate, I've found Peel Gardens flawless in all aspects regarding Dad's care. In my opinion, Dad is treated with the dignity and compassion any caring son could wish for. My absolute gratitude goes to every member of the brilliant team within .

The care given to my dad is very good overall. On his clear days he says you can get a kiss and a cuddle when you need one which means a lot when family aren't there. He'll never go hungry or thirsty.

Review from Stephanie W (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 9 June 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My grandma moved to the home as she was assessed as needing 24-hr nursing care. The home manager was fantastic at facilitating the move, talking us through the processes and ensuring that my grandma settled as easily and quickly as possible. The standard of care she has received has been outstanding and she is more settled than we have seen her for a long time. The staff are caring and interact with her, which is very reassuring for us as a family. They have done their utmost to help facilitate safe visits during the pandemic and have made sure we are always able to phone and make contact so we are up to date with how grandma is. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home and we feel very comforted that grandma is being cared for so well there.

We were phoned by the night staff at 06.30 am on the 9th of April and told that my father in law had fallen whilst trying to get up. The paramedics had been contacted and that the paramedics would contact us once he had been assessed. The staff were aware that he is not for hospital admission. We were phoned by the paramedics and reassured that he had cuts and bruises, but no other injuries. We had been made aware previously that it is the care home policy to contact paramedics if a client is taking anticoagulants. The paramedics informed us that the staff had monitored him before their arrival and they were also able to confirm that he was his usual self. The paramedic very kindly conducted a video call with us to reassure us and let us see him. We spoke to staff later in the day and were told that he had enjoyed both his meals. We can not praise both the night and day staff enough for their communication during this incident and their overall care, love and professionalism.

The staff are kind and caring and obviously care greatly for my Dad. I cannot review current domestic conditions due to not being allowed in the home but they were good prior to COVID-19.
