Overall Experience

Having only been in a care home once or twice before, I was a little apprehensive about going to visit my grandad, but all my worries were soon lifted by the amazing staff and environment. It felt homely as soon as I walked in, and I was always welcomed by staff offering any help, tea, coffee and even meals to enjoy with my grandad too. Although he was very poorly, I did look forward to going to see him, even towards the end of his life, staff and even higher management (deputy) couldn’t do enough, even giving care! I would 100% recommend Stocks Hall Burscough as my whole family truly felt at ease, knowing he was getting high-quality care, human connection/interaction and love from all who worked in the home.

My mum was transferred to Stocks Hall on 16-5-23. She has improved greatly over the last week; she is taking more fluids and pureed meals. She's brighter and more awake.
The staff are very caring and happy in their work. They are always welcoming and explain how she has been.

It takes special people to work in the care environment. All the staff I have met are happy and enthusiastic in their work.

My mum has been in Stocks Hall for over five years. As her dementia takes hold, they have moved her from the Red Admiral floor and is now in full nursing care on the Peacock ground floor.

I cannot fault the care provided. The staff are excellent and are very caring and kind. The home is clean, well-maintained and truly welcoming. I live a long way away, but I am so reassured and feel so comfortable knowing Mum is in the best hands as the carers feel like family too. They keep me informed and up to date with Mum's progress. Overall, I am very happy and feel we made the right choice for Mum.

My dad has been in Stocks Hall for almost a year now, and we have been very happy with his care from the outset. It is very difficult to have a parent in a care home, but we have complete peace of mind here, as we know that he is being well looked after. We can visit any time and speak to staff if we are worried about anything, and we are always made to feel welcome. The staff are amazing with the residents!

Since my wife was admitted to Stocks Hall in February 2022, I have found it to be excellent. The management has been very supportive and has gone out of their way to help, including help with the (complicated) financial side of things. All the staff have been brilliant and looked after her in a compassionate, professional and caring way and cannot be faulted.
The home is well run and well maintained, the rooms are comfortable and well managed, with the food and laundry facilities excellent.

All in all, I am more than pleased with the care my wife has been given and would recommend this care home to anybody.

Mum was transferred from another care home 18 months ago, initially to the dementia unit, then six months ago to the nursing unit, as her needs changed. The care she has received has been amazing, always treating Mum with dignity, respect and compassion through some difficult times. The atmosphere is always positive, and the staff are smiling and passionate about their work. It's a difficult decision when choosing a care home, but I would recommend Stock Hall without hesitation.

Dad has been in Stocks since last June 2022 after a stroke. The care he has received is second to none, he is well looked after, and there are plenty of carers. Dad needs lots of care which he gets on a daily basis. The staff are just lovely and always look after us when we visit, offering cups of tea and biscuits. Dad needs a special diet, and the chef/cook does an amazing job, and the food always looked well presented, and Dad never leaves any!
Dad was quite poorly a few weeks back, and the staff contacted us straightaway and kept us informed; they couldn’t do enough for him.

We, as a family, were very upset when Dad had to go in a home, but he is so well cared for; we couldn’t ask for more - it gives us peace of mind. Everyone, including management, is very approachable. Would definitely recommend Stocks.

When my very special friend was finally discharged from the hospital into the home, the relief to both him, his wife, his son and all visitors was instantly noticed. At last, he was receiving the loving care and dignity that he deserved. I cannot thank the staff enough, from the management team to every single member of staff; they are all so dedicated and proud of the care they so skillfully give. They supported his wife throughout his stay. I cannot commend the home enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On the third of April 2023, my husband was transferred to Stocks Gall Care Home from the infirmary, where he died very peacefully on Sunday the seventh of May. Throughout his stay with you, he received excellent care both physically and mentally and was always treated with respect and empathy, for which I will always be very grateful. I was able to visit and stay with him in the privacy of his own room, and your care was also extended to me and my extended family. Thank you so much, all of you, I will always be grateful to the staff of Stocks Hall, and you should all be very proud of yourself for the high standard of care you give.

Lovely staff, couldn't do enough for Dad and our family. Nursed back to health from a poor care home.
Staff went above and beyond their duties and were so welcoming on every visit. So lovely to see him out of bed and participating in the home's activities and regular entertainment.
The manager and deputy were so helpful from enquiry through to admission and were always on hand to speak to. Both were very hands-on and involved with his care.

As a family, we couldn't recommend this home enough.

I cannot commend Stocks Hall nursing home enough for the way they looked after my late father. My dad could not have been cared for in a more compassionate and dignified manner during his final weeks of life. The nursing staff absolutely loved and cherished my father, and did everything they could to attend to his every need, including being with him at the end. All that remains for me to say is thank you for the way you looked after Dad and the support you have also given to his family during this very sad time.

Thank you. Your care was second to none.

My husband has been in the nursing unit in Stocks Hall for a year now. The staff are all exceptional. The care and attention to detail are far superior to other care homes he has been in. The atmosphere is really homely from the moment you walk through the door. I feel he is safe, and all his needs are attended to with great dignity. His food has to be individually prepared, and the standard is very high. The management is very approachable and helpful if he has any personal issues.

Mum has been at Stocks Hall Burscouugh for over seven months now after moving from the hospital with a spinal injury, which has confined her to a wheelchair. During all my visits, the staff have been very nice and do keep me informed of any changes with Mum's condition. Although I think her room is a little small for the size of her wheelchair, overall, the staff do an amazing job with her.

We were so lucky to have found this forever home for our Dad. The standard of care is above and beyond what we could have hoped for. Just to see the smile on my dads face when a member of the staff speaks to him is lovely, this is so genuine, to him, they are his family; what more could you ask for. My dad is always clean-shaven and dressed smartly. Staff have so much time for us as family members, and you never feel like you are asking too many questions, and greet with a smile. We cannot thank the staff enough for all that do for our lovely Dad. Thank you, Stocks Hall Care Home Burscough.

The team really enjoy their jobs, and this is reflected in the care and kindness they give Mum. She is cared for, and this gives great peace of mind. The staff make adjustments to meet Mum's changing needs, and visits have been so nice now we can sit with Mum in her room.

Review from Rachel H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 10 August 2020 Submitted via Website

I honestly can not fault the care provided to my grandad. He arrived a broken and unrecognisable man after an awful experience with another provider. The staff here treated him with dignity and respect, he was an individual and the care provided to him helped him to thrive. He was back on his feet and his witty personality was back. Throughout the time he was there the team kept us up to date and nothing was too much to ask. As a family, we made the decision to bring him home in May due to the Covid pandemic but this would not have been the success it was without the care and rehabilitation provided by the care home. I wouldn't hesitate to allow you to care for a family member again. Thank you.

My husband was admitted to Stocks Hall, Burscough on 2nd July 2018. He was transferred from a nursing home in Southport. He was settled in very quickly and responds well to staff. I am glad that we decided to move him, as he seems more content and is being very well looked after.
