Over the years, several members of my family have required social care. All homes have been high quality, but pale into insignificance when compared to High Peak. Cannot speak highly enough about all the staff. They are professional, caring and are a real credit to the company. I have no hesitation in recommending High Peak to anyone requiring first class social care for a loved one.

The home is always lovely, clean and tidy. All staff are approachable, and nothing is too much trouble.

They have a variety of meals with choice. The staff go above and beyond when it's a resident's birthday, Easter, Christmas, providing extra activities including buffet and singers, etc. Weekly entertainment - dominoes, trips out to bingo.

My father William has just spent 6 weeks in High Peak, and as a son I can't fault in any way. The staff was lovely and couldn't do enough for him. The change in himself is unreal.

I am very happy with the care of my partner, and he seems very contended and enjoying his food. The decor and surroundings of the home are great, exceptionally clean, and bright. His room is spacious and ensuite, and he has his own television. The activities are well planned, and he likes to watch even if he cannot join in everything and particularly enjoys the singing. Looking foreard to Christmas festivities

I was very apprehensive prior to Dad being transferred from hospital. After just one day, it was evident that I had no need to be. The nurses went the extra mile to make Dad comfortable and sorted his additional GP help.
All the staff are very friendly. (Only one slight downside was the personal hygiene of one of the care assistants.)

With a bad experience with another home 7 years ago with my mum, High Peak Lodge has now changed my opinion of nursing homes for the better. *Fully funded care & not experienced activities.*

My wife has dementia and was a little afraid when she first came to High Peak, but the staff made her very welcome and put her at ease. I was very impressed by how clean everything was. The bedroom was newly decorated, and all the communal areas were kept clean. The staff seem to have a good understanding of how to treat a patient with dementia. The meal are good. I noticed that the carers helped residents who couldn't eat their food. My wife can't speak very loudly and finds it difficult to attract the attention of the carers.

Overall, my experience of High Peak is excellent.

My husband has been in High Peak N H for just over a year and has settled in well. There is a good atmosphere in the home and the management and staff are very helpful and kind to the residents, nothing being too much trouble. The catering staff provide excellent menus. The social activities are enjoyed by the residents and visitors alike. There is also a lovely garden. I would definitely recommend.

Dad is well cared for. The carers are very observant and notice if anything is wrong. His room is always clean and fresh. He enjoys the activities and has a good rapport with his carers. Our family have peace of mind knowing he is safe and comfortable. We enjoy our daily visits to see him and the staff.

My dad was reluctant to go into a home, but once in, he had the best care possible. The carers gave him so much care and attention that he loved being there. I feel he's had the best quality of life he possibly could coming towards the end.

I was apprehensive about putting him into a home as we have been together and married for 62 years. His quality of life at home was not good and was very hard for me to care for him. When he went in, he was welcomed with open arms, and the care and attention they gave was outstanding. All the visitors were made welcome and also cared for. I, myself, always offered a cuppa. Fantastic place to go.

My mum has been in High Peak Lodge on a short-term placement for about the last 2 months. She had previously been in a different home that basically just left her in bed all the time for a month. Since Mum has been here, I have nothing but praise for the nurses, carers and all staff at the home. They are wonderful with her and ensure she is up, dressed and in the communal areas every day, mingling and keeping her mind active. Today was her birthday and when I visited they had planned a surprise with all the staff, singing 'Happy Birthday' to her as they took a cake with candles for her to blow out. She was overcome with emotion, it was such a thoughtful and lovely surprise. I feel so comfortable there myself whenever I visit. I know she is being well looked after and is safe and loved.

I write on behalf of our family - our mother has been in High Peak Lodge Residential & Nursing Home since December 2021. She a difficult case for staff due to family conflict. However, my mother loves her home at High Peak. She has a fantastic relationship with all staff and residents. She enjoys partaking in all activities. The staff are extremely patient, friendly and helpful. They ensure she has a balanced diet of regular visits from all her family. Staff are extremely professional and on the whole, as a family, we are extremely satisfied with all aspects. Would highly recommend.

When first visiting the home, we noticed that it felt very homely and didn't smell of anything nasty - it just smelt nice, it was clean, and the residents looked happy. They looked like they were being looked after well. All the staff go the extra mile while caring for the residents. I feel confident that my partner is being cared for, as well as I would care for him if I could.

My Nan moved to High Peak Lodge Residential & Nursing Home in January, she required palliative nursing care and although she was only at the home for just under 5 weeks we cannot praise the staff here enough. The manager, nurses and care staff all took the time to regularly communicate with the family and offered comfort and support as my nan’s health deteriorated.
My Nan sadly passed away at the end of February surrounded by her family, with comfort and dignity due to the high level of care provided by the home. We are so grateful to the care provided in the last weeks of her life and on the day she passed. We could not have asked for any more support on that day.
As a social care professional, I had previously heard good feedback about High Peak Lodge and had some interaction with the manager of the home that led me to believe that my nan would be well cared for here and resulted in this being our preferred home.

Thank you so much to all the staff at the home.

Amazing place, I cannot thank this home enough for what they have done for my family, they have been caring for my Dad, till he sadly just recently passed away. They also are looking after my Grandma, who has been with them since August (2020) she was only given 3 months and these amazing people got her to her 100th birthday in February and she is still going strong. All the staff from the management down are just fantastic, I cannot recommend enough.

Carol Mills
Carol MillsJob Title:Care Home Manager

I became the manager of High Peak Lodge in 2017 and this is my first job for a private care home following a long and varied career in several sectors. I qualified as a nurse in 1984 and worked at the former Hope Hospital in Salford as part of its community learning disabilities team for 17 years.

I was then a programme manager for environmental regeneration charity Groundwork for eight years and five years I was a manager, rising to head of operations, at the Carers Trust For All.

I am able to put my combined knowledge and experience to good use at High Peak Lodge. My overriding interest is in the quality of care for vulnerable people.

The thing I like best about my job is the people – our residents and staff. There is great camaraderie in our team and a real willingness to go the extra mile, every day.
