We had an unexpected event, and Mum was taken to see St Oswald's, and she wanted to stay immediately. Mum, 86, was accommodated four days later. She wanted to join in activities immediately and has adjusted to this full-time accommodation, and likes it to being in a hotel. I am so pleased, and all requested
food, hairdress etc, all done.

My mum was in St Oswalds for two weeks respite care. I felt the experience on my behalf, was organised and informative in the run-up to her stay. I felt she was left in a safe and secure environment on my departure. The staff, with who I had dealings with, were friendly and reassuring.
Mum has said
she enjoyed her stay, the food was lovely, and the staff were friendly too.
Covid safety protocol was followed on each of the visits made to my mum.

I always find the staff polite, pleasant and helpful. The venue is always clean and tidy. Mum loves living here and cannot praise it high enough. The Facebook site enables us to see Mum in various activities.

Both my parents have been residents at St Oswald's. Dad sadly passed away. The care provided to both parents is extremely excellent. Nothing is impossible. The support that all the staff give to our family is equally excellent. The home has a "happy environment", and each visit never feels rushed. No
matter how busy the staff are, they always take the time to listen to our concerns and answer questions about my mum's health and care. Although Dad passed, the staff still continue to show their care and compassion and always ask how we as a family are coping. St Oswald's is truly a home from home experience.

We are very happy with the care and respect that my relative, who has multiple health problems, is receiving. The home is welcoming, comfortable and hygienic. All the staff we have met from nursing, caring, administration and housekeeping are pleasant and approachable. We would recommend St Oswald's
for short term or long term care.

Since my mum was admitted to St Oswald's House almost three years ago, I felt that she has been looked after and cared for with dignity and empathy. I was originally concerned when my mum first went into the home, but my concerns were quickly alliterated due to the contact quality care and attention
that she was receiving. This step was an extremely difficult decision to make, but I have absolutely no regrets. Everyone is both hard-working and professional in their approach.

Mum has been a resident since last May and has settled extremely well, and I would say mainly due to the way she feels so loved, cared for and accepted. She feels it is like a family. She was quite fussy about her food, but the staff listened to her and have gone above and beyond to accommodate her
and meet her needs. Mum loves the activities, and the team do amazingly well with their ideas! I have found the management and senior nursing staff always approachable and caring towards Mum. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending St Oswald's to anyone.

Made to feel comfortable when enquired by phone, even though busy due to lockdown. If I needed to know anything the staff did not hesitate to contact me.
It is very reassuring to know that my mum is being kept comfortable, clean and safe.

We have been so thankful for the wonderful care my mum has received. She had to go in for nursing care and really didn't want to. However, she settled very quickly, has thrived and is doing amazingly well and she now loves living there and the attention and care she receives is just wonderful. I don't
think she would want to go home now, which says it all.
It's all down to the wonderful and caring staff (and the lovely food they serve).

My dad was at St Oswald's for over five years, it became his home and a second family for us. The care up to and including his final day/hours was of a high standard, the relationship he and we had with staff was brilliant. He had key senior care and nursing staff supporting him daily including the
manager, all went above and beyond and all were friendly, attentive and shown empathy and affection to him and his family.

It is hard to find adequate words to express our deep gratitude to the manager and all the nurses, carers and staff at St Oswald’s for their treatment of Mum during her twenty months residence. The cheerful and homely atmosphere of the home and the beautiful grounds, together with the unfailing kindness
and compassion of all the staff ensured that Mum was as comfortable as possible throughout her stay and particularly in her last days. Your support for us during this time was also greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten. We hope you all keep safe and well during this difficult time for everybody and that it won’t be long before we can pop in for a cup of tea and a chat.

Superb support, the information provided from day one.
Nothing has been too much trouble face to face, on the phone or social media.
Feels like we leave Dad on a holiday being cared for and getting anything he wants.
All we can say is in the short time we have been in contact, thank you to each and
everyone involved in running a superb caring home!

My mum has been a resident at the home for nearly six years. She is a resident due to a mobility issue following a stroke and does not have any illnesses generally. That all changed just over two weeks ago, when Covid came into the home and Mum was tested positive. The staff have been amazing, and I
can't thank them enough for the care that they have provided to my mum throughout the last few weeks and also the compassion that they have also provided to me with their continual reassurance that they were doing all they can to make her comfortable. She's smashed Covid and is now making a slow recovery. I have been constantly on the phone and not once have I been made to feel that they are too busy to talk. All the staff are a credit to this home, many of them leaving their homes to make sure that they can care for our loved ones. So from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of all mum's family; we thank you all, and we will be forever grateful!

I would wholeheartedly recommend St Oswald's care home to anyone who is considering becoming a resident there. My nan is a resident there, and it’s so lovely to see how much effort the staff put in to get to know her and look after her. The staff are amazing and are always looking for new and fun activities
for the residents to take part in. The care standard is brilliant, and it puts our families mind at ease; knowing that she’s being cared to such a high standard.

I cannot praise St Oswald's highly enough. There is always a very warm welcome from all the staff, and they are happy to discuss anything no matter how busy they are. Mum has been a resident for 2-years and has consistently received a very high standard of care. The staff have a very good understanding
of Mum and respect her views. It is clear to see the positive relationships that have blossomed as a result of their expertise and nurture. They regularly go the extra mile to ensure that she has the best care. The little touches also make a big difference. We are so pleased that we chose St Oswald's House and know that she is in the best place.
Huge thanks to all the staff for their dedication, hard work and commitment.

My mum has gone into care at St Oswald's as she has dementia. She had stayed there for respite care before when she broke her foot.
St Oswald's were kind enough to take her in before the Coronavirus outbreak lockdown.
They have all been absolutely amazing and have remained really positive and upbeat
for the residents despite there own concerns.
They are keeping my mum safe and entertained, not an easy task.
I can't thank them enough for not only their professionalism but also for the genuine caring and respect that they show all the residents. Thank you.

My mother needed additional recuperation time after hospital stays, neighbours recommended St Oswald's from their experience and on visiting we were happy to place her here with round the clock care just in case.
Food menus were varied and tasted nice and drinks were regularly brought round as desired.
Although initially a little reluctant, the activities organiser encouraged her to join in with some of the regular events and activities and when she seemed less well staff encouraged her to eat and drink, and called a GP and further medical specialists. Everyone in the staff were friendly and kind.

The home is well maintained with tea and coffee at reception. Staff are well presented and always polite when we ask for help. Although my mum hasn't been able to eat a lot of food, there is a good selection of meals for residents and if there is nothing on the menu that they like, the chef will make
something individually for them. Sometimes there can be a wait when entering the building in an evening or at a weekend, but this is understandable as there are reduced numbers in staff. Overall the home has a very calm, relaxed, caring feel which is why we chose St Oswald's and we're not disappointed

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.741)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.741) out of 10 for St Oswald's House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.841 for St Oswald's House is calculated as follows: ( (91 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.841

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Oswald's House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
