Summerville Care Home, located in a quiet residential area of Stockton Heath in Warrington, provides personalised residential and nursing care to older people.

The professional care team at Summerville takes the time to learn about each resident’s individual hobbies and interests, empowering them to lead an active and fulfilling life. In addition to the range of activities available, residents are also encouraged to take an active role in the Warrington community, from building relationships with neighbours in local community groups and schools to arranging sightseeing trips in the local area.

With sitting rooms, space for residents to pursue their hobbies and interests and a lovely dining room, Summerville has a host of places in which to relax, dine, exercise, socialise and be creative.

The delightful landscaped garden and patio is the perfect spot to spend time with friends and family, and is happily looked after by some of the residents. My dad was a resident at Summerville for 3 months, whilst he was here he always appeared to be well looked after, content and enjoyed the activities that one member of staff in particular arranged. The staff were always cheerful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble and they were always caring
and kind both to Mum, Dad and myself. The food is excellent, everywhere is very clean and the social areas provide a homely atmosphere for the residents to socialise and get together. It's a wonderful place that I would recommend to anyone.

My mum has been at Summerville Care Home for four and a half years. When I first looked for a nursing home I started my search near to home but wasn't satisfied with any of them, so gradually widened my search. As soon as I walked into Summerville I knew straight away that this was the right one - no
shouting from dementia sufferers, no offensive smells and just a generally homely atmosphere with good home-cooked food and lovely, caring staff. Sadly the management has changed numerous times which has been upsetting.

The only problem is with the staffing within the home. They seem to have an influx of staff who have English as a second language. I often have to ask them to repeat what they are saying. Talking over the telephone is extremely difficult. They are extremely caring, but my mum has great difficulty understanding
some of them. The home is still looking for a senior manager, which means that the staff lack leadership.

Caring, helpful and attentive staff, residents and visitors all made to feel important. All the staff are helpful and always smiling, they look after the residents and treat them with dignity and respect as far as I have seen and can't praise them enough. My mum is well cared for and all her needs are met. The food choices are good and all the residents always seem happy when I go in.

My mother has been in care since 5th July 2019 to which this review relates to. She went in for palliative end of life care and was very ill. Over the months she has been totally turned around due to the excellent care provided. The staff are professional in all that they do and mothers wishes and care
are paramount. Mother is now taking part in activities in the home such as the entertainments provided and asks to be got up from her bed to sit in the lounge to have her dinner. The future now looks a lot better for her and this has all been achieved by the care provided by the staff at Summerville Care Home.

After what seemed like a hard thing to do, to put my relative in a nursing home, I was put at ease with the friendliness of the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The activities are good. I feel she is safe and secure. As relatives, we are made to feel welcome.
