When visiting family we were greeted in a very professional manner. Our relative was dressed smartly and looking well. I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work during the Covid-19 outbreak.
My mother has been in care since 5th July 2019 to which this review relates to. She went in for palliative end of life care and was very ill. Over the months she has been totally turned around due to the excellent care provided. The staff are professional in all that they do and mothers wishes and care are paramount. Mother is now taking part in activities in the home such as the entertainments provided and asks to be got up from her bed to sit in the lounge to have her dinner. The future now looks a lot better for her and this has all been achieved by the care provided by the staff at Summerville Care Home.
After what seemed like a hard thing to do, to put my relative in a nursing home, I was put at ease with the friendliness of the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The activities are good. I feel she is safe and secure. As relatives, we are made to feel welcome.
When I first arrived at Summerville. I was upset at the need for my admission. However, I was immediately put at ease by the staff. This care and attention has continued all through my 2 weeks stay. From the house manager to the cleaners, all the staff are attentive and caring. I would recommend this home to anyone.
He has always been happy at Summerville, especially with the care, support, kindness and dignity he has received and the way staff find time to chat to residents. While he may now need encouragement to join in the varied activities, he does enjoy them.
It is good to see that, at 99, a twinkle in his eye has returned once more.
I'm happy here - everyone is so lovely and helpful. The carers who live up to their name will do anything to make life easy and lovely. I'm sorry to keep using the word 'lovely' so often, but everything and everyone here is exactly that. They can't do enough for you to help and they stop for a short chat when they can spare the time and yes - it's 'lovely'. I'd recommend Summerville to all and sundry.
They treated my wife very well. No complaints. Very good.
It is now a calm and kind environment. Staff are very attentive to residents' needs. There seems to be a good staff to resident ratio. The activities that are now provided are very regular, appropriate, varied and interesting. I know mum enjoys her food, the chef is great!
I have nothing but praise for Summerville and value greatly the care, comfort and security provided, which gives me complete peace of mind. The staff are absolutely brilliant - so caring, considerate, kind and helpful and always available if a problem arises. Summerville is such a friendly home with a wonderful atmosphere.
My Dad came into Summerville after having carers at his own home and was in and out of hospital. Since being here at Summerville he is eating properly. He is more alert. He joins in with activities but does need prompting to do so, which the staff do and he then joins in. When I have been visiting Dad I have noticed how nicely the staff speak to people. So, all in all, I am pleased with things.
My mother has been a resident now for 18 months, she arrived at the Summerville in a poor state of health, arriving from within the hospital system. The staff at Summerville have shown so much care that my mother made progress and now takes part in the daily activities. A special mention goes to one member of staff for motivating her out of her room and from all the other residents who take part. The staff are extremely caring and are a credit to the home.
My father recently celebrated his birthday at Summerville. I would like to give a massive thank you to all the staff who gave him a fantastic birthday lunch and included myself and my husband in the celebration, his around the world themed party was amazing right from the decorations to staff dressing up in Hawaiian costumes, the fish, chips and peas were amazing and his cake was out of this world. And to top everything off there was entertainment of a singer. Dad really enjoyed it. And myself and my husband appreciate everything that was done, a massive thank you.
I have been a resident at Summerville Care home since February 2017. I arrived from the hospital in a poor condition. The care staff and senior staff and domestic staff are very caring and happy in their work and very loyal to the home. Visitors are welcomed at any time and hot drinks are available at all times. My sister, who arranged for me to come to Summerville, is extremely comforted to have me here. Laundry service is excellent and chef.
My dad moved into Summerville after several stays in hospital and unable to cope at home with maximum care available. His health soon improved and also his mobility. This has given him more independence than he's had for a long time.
Since my father moved into Summerville Care Home he has been treated with the most upright dignity and respect. All his needs are met. All staff are very friendly, helpful and approachable nothing is too much trouble. My father enjoys the various activities on offer from playing bingo to going out to places. He has also enjoyed the entertainment and visiting another care home.
My mother's general health deteriorated following a chest infection and the total loss of her sight. The efforts put in by all the care home staff to assist her recovery and acceptance of her condition have been wonderful. Her desire for some independence has been balanced with support when required.
It's always a trying time when a loved one has to enter a care home, however, we needn't have worried since the care given was second to none.
Nothing was too much trouble and every time I visited (daily) it seemed like she had her own carer\nurse or as she called them (much to their amusement) waiter\waitress'.
She enjoyed the activities so much that she would plan our visiting schedule around the activities i.e. You can't come visit Wednesday afternoon because we have "X" as an activity, or Thursday morning etc.
Her private room was always immaculate, as was the rest of the care home. Every day she enjoyed teasing me about how good the food was in comparison to my wife's cooking and on many occasions my wife and I were welcomed to join her for meals, for free and every meal was excellent.
My daughter and I visited my sister at Summerville on Saturday 2nd December 2017. Considering she has only been resident in Summerville for 12 months, it is extremely heartwarming to see the vast improvement in her well-being and appearance. Her skin and looks are much more healthy than they were prior to her move to Summerville. We had a nice chat with her care assistant, who was very kind and helpful, she showed us my sister's room which was spotless and very cosy, nothing was too much trouble for her.
We really got a lovely warm feeling of the ambience of Summerville and a tremendous sense of caring coming from the care assistant. Although I have visited Summerville to see my sister before (on my own) my daughter and I were very much impressed. We arrived unannounced, not a soul knew we were visiting. The attention to detail, absolutely marvellous, to all of the Staff, "Well Done". I'm 80 years of age next and I would check in tomorrow.
Thank you so much for your review and kind words about our staff. It is lovely to hear how well your sister and how well cared for she is. It is the little things that do make all the difference.
I cannot thanks Everyone enough, all of the staff are so friendly and helpful and have made what has been the worst time of my life into a bearable time.
Mum has settled well now and we know as a family she is so well looked after and cared for when we are not there.
They are always on hand to answer any questions or concerns we may have.
Thank You to Everyone who works at Summerville.
