I visit the nursing home regularly on coffee mornings to see a friend. My own father was a resident in 2019 for 2 years and I found it outstanding in all aspects and still today it is the same standard. Very welcoming, clean, jolly staff with good understanding of care, plenty of activities daily. I
would and have highly recommended this nursing home to many of my friends for their parents.

My mother has only been in residence since July 2024 (four weeks). She has settled in brilliantly. She is treated with kindness, respect and dignity. Before going into The Laurels she had become frightened to be on her own after falling but now she is happy and relaxed. Joins in with activities and
has plenty of conversations. Feels like I have my mother back. So thank you!
Reply from Darren Mann-Saunders, Manager at The Laurels Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to complete the review, it is much appreciated, and we value all feedback given. I'm so happy that we have been able to make a difference not only to your mum, but also to you.

I cannot speak highly enough of the team at The Laurels. They made a very difficult time much easier for my Nanna as well as the whole family. I will be forever grateful for the quality of care she received, always ensuring her safety and dignity as well as providing her with the respect she deserved.
The cleanliness, quality of room and furnishings, choice of meals and variety of activities offered made her stay as comfortable as could be. Thank you!
Reply from Darren Mann-Saunders, Manager at The Laurels Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to review the home. We appreciate any feedback, however the greatest satisfaction for us is to know that we made a difference when it mattered, and that we were able to make a difficult transition in someone's life that little bit more 'normal'.

I was very reassured when the manager came out to meet my nan and make sure the home could meet her needs. After a few weeks my nan was like a new woman, she was even up and dancing to live music! The care she received was excellent right through the different stages of her deterioration and she loved
all the entertainment. The wonderful staff were incredibly supportive to the whole family and we will always be grateful

The Laurels have been extremely welcoming to my dad. They are a lovely team, very caring and understanding of his needs, always keeping me updated. They really take the time to listen and are very helpful in all matters. A lovely home. I can highly recommend it - spotlessly clean. My dad's room is so
lovely and homely. They really take good care of him. Peace of mind for sure.

Since my nana came to live at The Laurels, she seems more presentable and enjoys the company of staff. My nana's eating habits have improved since being here. The staff always seem willing to help her no matter what she needs. We, as a family, feel more content knowing she is safe.

All staff in period dress good entertainment tea and cakes home baked what more could you ask for.
You are a super team of dedicated people who demonstrate care and kindness to your residents.

My mum has been at The Laurels in Norton now for just over 11 months and the care that she receives is excellent. She did take a few months to settle in but the staff was very supportive to all her needs and Mum now feels at home. Staff always make family members very welcome when we visit and nothing
is too much trouble for them.

My mum has lived at The Laurels for almost four years and we as a family have had no major issues with her care, only a couple of minor ones. She has had a good relationship with her carers despite the fact that she has no real communication skills. She has had a deterioration in her health these past
couple of months and the staff have made her as comfortable as possible.

My mum is so obviously well thought of and so well looked after by all the staff, she is at end of life and all the staff ensure she is comfortable and they all make such an effort to make sure her remaining time is as enjoyable as it can be and that she is comfortable and pain free. I really enjoy
visiting and I am always made to feel welcome. I am kept informed of everything I need to know. When she first went into The Laurels Nursing Home it was meant to be temporary until I could get her moved closer to me, but she became settled so I decided to make her stay permanent and it was the best decision ever.

to be at The Laurels.

For the money the client is left in a hot room with no activity.
These clients should have better interaction and things to do, not left with the TV on and staring into space.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.866)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.866) out of 10 for The Laurels Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.866 for The Laurels Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (300 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 344 Ratings = 4.866
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Laurels Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
