My mother lived at the home for just over 2.5 years and experienced a great level of care. The staff were remarkably good to her health, mood and mobility improved almost immediately on moving there. I honestly believe that we would have lost her much sooner had she not experienced such wonderful care.
Mum
passed away in the home in March 2024 and her last days were handled with the utmost care, respect and love. We felt that she was really cared for by people who knew her and wanted the very best for her. It was a great comfort to her family that she was offered such excellent care which met her needs and respected her wishes.
Reply from DANIEL BEAUMONT, Nomindated Individual and Owner at Holly Bank Care HomeThank you for taking the time to review Holly Bank, we will pass your kind words onto the team, we are glad your happy with the care and support Mum needed, she will be missed by all our staff.

Each time I visit Holly Bank to see Mum, I am met with fantastic, friendly staff who are genuinely happy to be working there and really do care for the residents. I am always blown away by the improvements the owner makes to the home. It really feels more like a boutique hotel than a care home with
the gorgeous improvements he has made. Due to the distance I have to travel (8 or 9 hours each way!) to see Mum, the staff are great at helping set up a video chat session with Mum once or twice a week and I can see Mum is comfortable, content and very well cared for by staff she knows, likes and trusts. Holly Bank is run efficiently by a very capable and personable manager who leads her staff very effectively from what I can see. It is very notable that very many of the staff have been at the home for many years and enjoy working there. Thank you to all of you amazing folk!

I found the home very caring, with friendly staff. The only thing that let it down was there were no plugs in the sink in the bathroom and no hot water.
Reply from Daniel Beaumont, Nomindated Individual and Owner at Holly Bank Care HomeThank you for your review your feedback is really important to us. We have had some issues with the boiler which has caused some hot water problems, it is scheduled to be fixed. Hopefully, this will l rectify the issue.

The lovely staff at Holly Bank have been caring for my aunt for the past eight years.
Sadly she died in the home in November 2023 at the age of 99, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, responsive and caring. They looked after my aunt and us so well in her last days, thank you.

A great start as my parent arrived yesterday for respite care. We were all made very welcome. She settled into the room and despite her huge anxiety at moving in she said she liked the room. All staff were very welcoming and we loved how my parent was given choices and made her own decisions. She had
a welcome bottle of sherry and a card and we left her feeling secure and reassured.
We feel we could ask anything without any concerns. Thank you for such a great start to her stay.

Our dad moved into Holly Bank Care Home very recently and this was obviously an anxious time for us and our dad. However, everyone at the home have been so welcoming and thoughtful which is really helping our dad settle. Anything we have asked for has been sorted really quickly.

The home welcomed my cousin with open arms. They were caring and professional at the same time. Nothing was too much trouble. He was particularly demanding - due mainly to diminishing powers of understanding - but the home were not phased by it and handled him with love land kindness. I cannot praise
the patience of the management and staff enough. A fantastic home from home with caring, knowledgeable and efficient staff. Thank you Holly Bank Care Home for all you do for your residents. You provide a happy and safe environment for them all.

Mum had been in hospital following a series of falls and wasn't ready to be at home but didn't need to be in hospital.
We were made very welcome as we arrived and I was shown to Mum's room whilst she relaxed with a cup of tea. Her room was clean and freshly decorated with nice touches such as a reclining
armchair and throws.
The rest of the home has been upgraded or in the process of being upgraded and is akin to a boutique hotel! Nothing is too much trouble for the requirements of the residents.
As I came to visit Mum, any member of staff who I hadn't met before came and introduced themselves, which I felt was a nice thing to do. Anytime I needed to speak to a member of staff or the management, there was never an issue and they were happy to answer any questions or resolve any issues.
Sadly Mum's health deteriorated rapidly but Holly Bank were happy to continue to care for her which they did with kindness and compassion until she passed away four days later. Thank you Holly Bank!

My dad has been at two other care homes prior to coming to Holly Bank, he truly feels likes he's at home and respected by the caring team. The staff are attentive to his needs and the management team have been fantastic at helping him settle in. I can’t not thank Holly Bank for giving us as a family
peace of mind. My dad also was able to select the decoration for his bedroom including wallpaper.

The staff are well-trained, kind and efficient. I have had experience of this home for 12 years and most of the staff are still there from 12 years ago. The home is clean, well-furnished and up-to-date. The residents are clean and very well cared for. The food is also very good and there is always a
choice. Residents’ rooms are light, clean and airy. Management and staff work well together and everyone knows their roles. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I am a regular volunteer at Holly Bank. From the minute you walk in the door you can feel the homely atmosphere. All the staff are very welcoming and I can tell they are passionate about their jobs and caring for the residents. When I'm speaking to the residents they all say they are very happy at Holly
Bank and feel very well cared for. The home is very clean and very well looked after. Really couldn't fault it and I'd be happy to put my own family in the home if ever needed

I find it difficult to give an opinion as we have not had unrestricted access due to Covid. There has been a lack in management information regarding keeping relatives informed. Regarding visiting times etc and a lack of resident information.
Reply from Daniel Beaumont, Owner/manager at Holly Bank Care HomeThank you for taking the time to submit your review, we take our feedback very seriously. Our aim is to provide the best possible care to those we support. Obviously, covid was a very restrictive time for everyone, especially for care homes, we are sorry that you didn't have unrestricted access within the home, unfortunately, this was something out of our hands, and we were following Public Health England Guidelines. Regarding keeping relatives informed of visiting times and guidelines, during the whole of covid we sent out emails and rang families, including your own which I have a record of. We also have a public and private Facebook page where we keep families informed of daily activities coordinated by our activity coordinator and staff, this was also the case during covid along with visiting times and any information we received from Public Health England. Regarding management, we don't have a record of any formal complaints made by yourself, would you be available for a call to discuss this in more detail?

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.958)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.958) out of 10 for Holly Bank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.958 for Holly Bank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (226 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 236 Ratings = 4.958
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Holly Bank Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
