My auntie has been living at Holly Bank Care Home for seven years. She is disabled with Polio and is 98 years old. She can be a bit difficult at times but the staff have been fantastic with her. On the whole, she is happy and I am, for I know she is being well looked after.

Thank you for your review, the home has recently employed our own activity coordinator so hopefully, we will improve within this area.

Since my dad moved into the home in October 2022. The management and staff have made the experience very welcoming. Dad's room is very spacious, but there was nowhere to put his books. We asked if he could have a bookcase and one was fitted to the wall within a couple of days. The TV in his room broke and it was replaced the same day by the manager. The manager and another member of the staff always ask if everything is okay and help with any requests, very pleased with the situation.

My husband had a stroke in June 2020 and as a result, suffers from vascular dementia. This was a significant deterioration in his physical condition in September 2021 and he was hospitalised in November and December. As he continued to deteriorate he was admitted to care in February 2022. The care that my husband has received in at Holly Bank has been first class. They have shown great concern for his physical and emotional well being (which has massively improved) and standard in realistic to all aspect of his care have been very high. The physical and material environment is excellent. Management and staff appear extremely kind and patient in their interactions with residents and visitors' queries or difficulties are addressed properly and sympathetically.

My mother has received excellent care since she was admitted to Holly Bank Care Home on the 30th July 2020. The staff are really good, also the management. They have done a marvellous job through the pandemic. Have nothing but praise from the ancillary staff through to the management.

My father joined Hollybank in Dec 2020, very frail after 3 months in hospital.
The manager did everything he could to admit Dad to be with my mother for her last days, for which I was very grateful.
During the blight of Covid staff worked well to keep everyone safe and carefully followed regulations. During that period much hard work was also put into improvements i.e. a new kitchen, lovely outdoor patio, seating, flower baskets etc.
The staff and manager work together as an excellent team. They are kind, caring and compassionate and have a sense of humour. Their patience, respect and calm professionalism towards both my father and myself are exemplary.

We are very appreciative of their care and support in these stressful times.

Holly Bank is such a lovely place, my loved one came here first of all for respite and ended up staying and it is now nearly 4 years. The staff are absolutely amazing, they treat your loved ones like family and they get to know them and spend time with them. They are so caring and treat everyone with respect.
During Covid, it was hard not being able to visit but the staff did video calls, texts and photos to make sure you kept up-to-date. The staff made sure that the residents were kept entertained and kept busy with parties and activities.
The management team are fantastic they are very approachable and nothing is too much.
The rooms are immaculate and are regularly maintained.

I can't thank Holly Bank enough for letting me be part of the Family.

After Mum was in and out of hospital, it was decided that she would benefit from being cared for by Holly Bank and it was the best decision we made. Mum thrives in there. We have the best of both worlds as I know she’s safe and being well cared for and that’s peace of mind for myself plus I can see her whenever I want and she often comes to my house regularly too. The staff are lovely and friendly. Would highly recommend Hollyban. Mum and I like to call it a hotel for the elderly.

The staff at Holly Bank gave our grandpa the best possible care in his final years. He really enjoyed his time there and the staff became friends with him, constantly going above and beyond to provide him with care and companionship so he was never lonely. We will be forever indebted to the home for making our grandpa so content and comfortable before he sadly passed away from old age in 2020.

Overall Experience
My Mum lived at Holly Bank for 1 week short of 5 years. Throughout that time she received exemplary care in beautiful surroundings. Holly Bank isn't like a care home, it's like a hotel for the elderly. Each room has it's own individual charm, enhanced by beautiful decor. There are regular activities, including regular themed parties. Holly Bank is a very nice size, home to around 20 residents which meant Mum was a name, not just a number.
The carers are amazing, having visited twice a week for almost 5 years they are like family to me. It's clear that the staff feel valued by the manager, a feeling that is clearly reciprocated.
During 2020 the Manager and his team worked tirelessly and with great success to keep the home Covid free.
Sadly my Mum passed away, from old age, in Dec 2020. The Manager and his team treated my Mum, and me, with the utmost care and respect throughout this difficult time.

Finding a place for mum at Holly Bank is one of the best decisions I ever made.

Overall Experience

As a family, we cannot praise the team at Holly Bank highly enough for looking after my mother for 5 years until she passed away in December 2020 aged 91. Mum found mobility very difficult and had mild dementia. The team always dealt with those issues with total dignity, respect and patience. Mum had a very spacious and comfortable room, such that she was able to bring furniture from home and make the surroundings very familiar. The home always made sure that the residents socialised as much as possible and provided regular activities and entertainment. When family members visited every week, we were always made very welcome, and the team always made sure they had time to chat with us. The management team have been extremely proactive in dealing with the requirements for Covid 19 and often making decisions for the resident's security and welfare in advance of the official government guidelines. Holly Bank is a caring, care home and not an institution. I would highly recommend to anyone.
