Elmwood Care Home

My 96 year old aunt has been a resident for 9 months. On each of my weekly visits I have found the staff to be friendly and welcoming. My aunt has had good care. Unfortunately she is having to move in June as her funds will no longer cover the expenses. Sonia, the Financial Administrator, has been most helpful in providing advice on engaging Social Services and the Early Intervention Team. She has also been very patient in explaining the processes that I must go through over the next few months in order to get Local Authority funding. Sonia is always professional but shows kindness and understanding too.

There is a nice garden to enjoy, and my mother is enjoying the food. Nothing seems too much trouble. We feel reassured that she is being so cared for.

The Team are all really friendly. They are always at hand and any request is dealt with efficiently.

Dad has settled in really well. He is checked regularly and kept clean and refreshed.

The room is cosy and kept clean. He has been able to put his own stamp on it.

Each area of the home is well secured with keypad access only.

Food is above average but limited with Dad's vegetarian diet and the needle for soft food. Having said that the chef and kitchen team provide a well balanced diet.

Mum and Dad very settled at Elmwood. Very happy with the care they receive. I am kept informed of any health issues. Wide range of entertainment with in-house events. Also regular external entertainment/ interesting contributors visit. Days out also arranged. Staff very friendly and management approachable and supportive.

My dear wife has now been a resident at Elmwood for several months.

Although somewhat incapacitated and having difficulty in conversing she has been made to feel at home. She is well cared for as if she were at home.

The staff seem to love her. They work very hard.

At the time of her 80th birthday they made a little tea party complete with birthday cake. It was great! She loved it.

The food is superb, good enough to make me want to move in.

So much for the good points; now here come the complaints

My mum has been under the care of Elmwood for over 4 years in which time I have little or nothing to worry over. Superb staff who are extremely attentive to her needs. All care & nursing staff are polite & patient with the residents who all must have different needs & levels of care. Important to myself & sure others also. Management extremely helpful & will always offer information upon questions regards mum. Reception always welcoming. I applaud the cleaning staff keeping the place clean as possible. Occasional recent needs to feed my mum which has been done. No complaints regarding food & drink. Activity afternoons provided & garden available for all to walk around, sit, view & enjoy. Both good. No complaints, 4 years, example of excellent care.

Overall, I'm very grateful for the care and support provided at Elmwood and I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for a safe and supportive place for their loved ones.

My mum has been living in Elmwood since Nov 2018 and my father from Aug 22 until October 25 when he passed away. During this time my parents' care has been exceptional. My mum receives excellent nursing care 24/7 and since my dad's passing she has also received excellent emotional support. Nursing staff, care staff and management all work together to give the best possible care in all areas. The rooms are clean tidy & well maintained. There are constant activities taking place for residents to join in and a very sociable atmosphere in the main lounge. During the summer months there is a lovely garden area to sit in and activities take place outside. I visit on a daily basis, know all of the staff and management by first names and am always given a very warm welcome. My mum is always clean and well cared for and her room and possessions are always in good order. I cannot praise this care home and all of the staff enough. They give me constant peace of mind for my mother's wellbeing

My uncle moved to Elmwood after a long difficult stay in hospital. Within a week of his arrival, he was cheerful and relaxed, like his old self. The manager and his team are always approachable if we have any questions, and they make the effort to really get to know the residents and support them to improve their health and wellbeing.

Father in law has now been at Elmwood for over 6 months. Both him and my mother in law went in together. He has settled into his new home very well and straight away got involved in the daily activities and entertainment. He enjoys the excellent variety of food made by the on-site Chef. They will also provide him meals that are not on that daysmenu if he fancies something else. All the staff are very nice and supportive. The home is well run, clean and in good order. The manager is very good and approachable. My father in law is very happy there.

My mum is happy at the home and we appreciate everyone working at Elmwood.

Excellent care. Wonderful staff, though I think they could do with more as they are extremely hard pushed to complete all task quickly and sometimes had to wait for the attention because they were so busy.

Location is great, close to shops and Roundhay Park, although sadly he was never well enough to get out. Overall a brief but positive experience, and would happily recommend Elmwood as a small friendly care home.

Arrived at 13:40 lunch was running late and my sister was in her room, she presented as very agitated and delirious. Alerted a member of staff who said it was normal behaviour for her (I visit monthly and have never seen her like this). I raised the issue of whether it could be a water infection but this was dismissed. No tea was brought around in the two hours I was present. Due to my sister's stroke and dementia, she sleeps for long periods but I feel she needs more encouragement to drink in order to prevent her from becoming dehydrated.

It seems to be a happy place to work.

Very happy with Elmwood Care Home and its staff for my 103-year-old mother who has been in this care home and also receiving nursing care since March 2023.

My wife became resident at Elmwood Care Home since 23rd January 2023, I was extremely apprehensive about her admission. Gradually I learned that my fears were groundless, a major reason for this was the faith and admiration I had for one of your staff in particular. During the following 15 months, it became obvious to me that he was reliable conscientious and energetic. I would rate him the star performer at the Elmwood Care Home, Leeds, the other staff support my views and share them. At all material times, he has dealt with us in a very professional manner and I have nothing but praise for him.

Experience is very good the staff are helpful polite and responsive to my mother’s needs, who appears to be centre of their attention, my mother is well fed and her special diet is monitored and kept on. The management team are good and always approachable. The quality of the food is good my mother does enjoy the soups, any fruit and the ice creams as well as many of the meat and fish main courses.

A very warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff excellent, level of care to a very high standard. My mum is very happy and settled here and content. I myself am happy with the level of communication from everyone. The housekeeping staff especially one in particular is very professional and helpful. Overall experience excellent.

Recently had some chicks hatch in incubator in lounge.
