After visiting a couple of times, the staff have been friendly and helpful. My brother has been well looked after by the staff, they cater to all his needs and the home is lovely and clean.

Our church goes to Hesslewood House Care Home about every two months to hold a service for the residents. The residents are always keen to join in and it is great to see the staff encouraging them to do so. The staff and residents are always so welcoming to us and look forward to our visits. The residents
we meet are always friendly and it is easy to see that the staff really care for the residents.

Really difficult to make the decision to move Mum to care home, but since moving to Hesslewood mum has improved with her memory and is very happy. All the staff are so kind and caring and do everything they can to make Mum feel comfortable and happy. My family and I have also felt really supported and
informed about Mum's care and welcomed to the Hesslewood family. Have recommended to others who are considering move to care home.

I have been in Hesslewood House Care Home for approx one year and enjoyed it immensely, considering my condition. Everybody works together with a constant target of improvement! Activities are important to me; this avoids boredom and helps keep my mind active - regular meetings with staff and patients
are very important.

It is a wonderful experience to be here. The place itself is like a holiday hotel. The staff are fantastic and so helpful. Everyone here is so polite and friendly. My room is kept spotless and tidy. When my wife came into Hesslewood I was dubious and concerned as to how she would settle. After nearly two years of residence, I can confirm that my worries were completely unjustified. She settled in immediately and the staff have expressed to me how well she is liked and loved. Although she cannot
speak she understands me very well and she is very happy with the care that she has and I could not wish for better.

I see on a daily basis how hard staff work. I and my family are so grateful for their care of my mum. Especially during the horrendous time they have all been through. I'm very grateful for all their sacrifices on our behalf. Mum says how kind they are to her. Can't ask for more than that.

After a really difficult 2 years, I feel that all the staff I that all the staff have done their upmost to keep all the residents safe and happy.
I was quite impressed when I attended the meeting for family that things are finally picking up for everyone. Activities will commence and actual visits
out into the community.

It was difficult for me to get Hesslewood but this is the best home and was what I wanted for my mother. She isn't the easiest of ladies and she blames me for everything but with the help and support of staff she has settled and got used to it and made friends, she now joins in with activities which
over the last year I have watched on the internet facebook page. Over covid, the home has gone the extra mile. I have been treated with dignity, caring and sense of humour and constant updates about my mom.

Overall been really happy with this home for my dad. It's always clean and tidy, and the staff are always really nice and friendly. Whenever I've spoken to one of the night staff, they don't always seem to know what's going on. I think they organise a lot of activities within the home, but not always
many going out (pre-Covid).

My mum has been in the home for end of life care. In the 8 days she was alive the nursing staff were excellent.

We are unable to visit because I am vulnerable. It is such a relief to know that my mother-in-law is happy. She is clean, tidy, warm and well-fed.
She always enjoyed going to a local restaurant for meals and to know she can still see the peacocks is a great joy for us. She thinks of Hesslewood as
her home now.

My relative was very unwell a fortnight ago-needing attention from the paramedics.
The staff nurse I spoke to last week about her was very understanding about her condition and needs and spent quite a long time talking to me. I felt reassured that my relative was in the best place possible.

Mum has been in Hesslewood House for six years and the whole family are very happy with her care. The staff are all wonderful with her as she has to be cared for in bed. If we gave any worries or concerns we know we can always speak with the manager. All staff are very approachable. Through these difficult

Alison

Alison Hudspeth-Lamb

Job Title: Home Manager at Hesslewood House Care Home, Hessle Joined: 1997

Alison has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 20 years and knew care was the career path for her. She loves working with people and finds helping people to be extremely rewarding.


Throughout her career Alison has worked in roles including Senior Carer, Unit Manager, Deputy Manager and now Home Manager. She has a Level 2, 3 and 5 NVQ and she and her team at Hesslewood House have been nominated twice for the Care Awards.


Alison is fluent in Afrikaans and English and has worked all around the world. She loves travelling and spending time with her family. Words of encouragement from Alison for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Visit the home if you can, so you can get a real feel for it, I love working with my fantastic team and building strong relationships with our residents.”
